Warmag does great products, even if its ultimately just the convenience of marrying an existing product with an easier sheet than doing it yourself. They are on the expensive side, but I burnt to much money on trying to DIY it and having sheets that didn't work, so its nice to know they will actually do their job. Shame they didn't give you a discount link! Actualy needing some more of them rn
Tbh if you compare it to other storage solutions like foam cases it's a lot cheaper. And the price of a normal plastic bin isn't much higher than theirs, so in that regard they are priced pretty fairly imho.
Thanks for the review Max.i have been doing this for a while with ferro paper or self adhesive magnetic sheets and standard magnets glued to the bases. But the super glue would loose hold over time and come off. These magnetic disk look like the perfect solution
Been using these for a while and they are great. If you get a taller box you can put a magnet sheet in the lid and double up the storage in the box by having some models upside down on the lid.
@@LizardofDoom or stick it on the edge for tall flyers / dragons save you geting a 12L not for price they cost the same nearly ,, but for space - but just for safe ,, stick sume pick/pluck on a 35mm magnet just to rest wing/head on I have been keeping a dark elf hydra, on its side , stuck on one end for three years I also have a dragon with magnetised wings stuck on its side , on one edge , in a different box I magnetise my old world bases and then make a magnetised movement tray (made from two magnet sheets one up - one down - with plastic card edges) so the units just pop in and out of , my lovely black box's
I've also just use RUBs and warmag stuff with my entire collection, and in over 30 years its the first time i've found something suitable and managed to get everything safely stored all in one stackable pile of boxes. Excellent stuff.
They look amazing and the price is incredible. I have already created my own magnetic boxes. But this looks much more cool and professional. Thanks for the shout-out!
Its circumstantial. For my Old World Dwarfs, KR foam is *ideal* because the models are small and tough and stocky. But Shatterpoint? Magnets all the way.
i diy-ed this concept for myself years ago and never looked back. genius use of space, putting a magnetic sheet on the inside of the lid, the magnets are strrong enough to hold small infantrie and such upside down, so just get the middle sized box for starting out and an aditional magnetic sheet for the lid.
These youngsters inventing a thing us old farts did decades ago. Ive got a beastman army (or daemons, havnt seen it in many years so cant remember) up in the loft. Magnets, magnetic paper, box, done. I remember people using magnets + metal biscuit tins. That all said convenience is a real thing. Sadly none of these bases will work for me, im all about Infinity (grew up from gw years ago). Zero of these magnets will work with the troops. Tags, bikes and werewolves maybe but not line infantry.
definately like the look of this product. Currently have a couple of the Battlefoam boxes but need more storage.. Price sounds good based on current economic conditions so think i may have to try me some of these. Great video man, glad i came across it.
I got my first one of these yesterday, and love it. One thing that caught me out though, and this is only a slight issue, is the new magnet system will not work with models such as the Leviathan box models that are push to fit. The parts that push into the base stop the new style magnets from being able to be attached. Small problem I know as GW doesn't have a huge amount of models that are push fit, but something to be aware of none the less. Otherwise, fantastic product, and I'll be buying more going forward as I need them!
Company states they can be cut with scissors. I was just looking at these wondering if they will work with bases for other games. I would try a hole punch on the magnet. Rub some marker on the protruding part, push magnet with the paper attached over adhesive to mark location first.
I have been using Warmag since the start of 2022, and I find it a great system....... However. I have found the glue holding the magnets to the bases is too weak. I have had many magnets fall off. I now attach them with Gorilla Glue and could not be happier.
Hello there :) I'm sorry to hear about this, the main issue is that our "standard range" magnets, which you must be talking about, can only do so much work as the adhesive is having to stick to the rim of the magnet. Since the beginning of 2024 we've had a premium magnet that goes inside the hollow citadel bases. Seeing as you've been our customer for so long, I'd love to send you some of these to try out, for free ofc. Can you send us an email if you're interested? Thanky :)
I have been wanting to try the war mag system out myself. But last time I looked they don’t ship to the U.S. so for now it’s my ghetto glue on magnets on sheet metal taped to boxes for me. Unless things have changed. lol.
We do ship international again now. And the rates we have with FedEx are the cheapest we could get into America. These are advertised on our site the same as we actually pay them. We do sell a USA sized sheet for the USA sized Really Useful Box, so you might find you can save some money on the shipping with these options instead, by sourcing the Really Useful Boxes in the states. Thanks for the interest :)
I’ve used these magnets for a while now. I’m in Australia and they stopped postage yearly this year. But they have reopened international postage again. Well worth the postage cost imo
thanks for the kind words - these are honestly the cheapest rates we could get, and they're advertised on our site based on what we literally pay them for them. The boxes take up a lot of volume so FedEx ain't budging on the price! I do really appreciate the support honestly. There is a voucher code atm which is WARMAG-7 (expires Halloween 2024) so this should soften the blow of the postage costs. Thanks again (and again!) WarMag
You can get the varying thickness and do custom ones. I did and never had models damaged. Plus playable armies are coated in clear coats to prevent paint damage. The gw ones suck.
Good overview of the product, but any chance of a drop test from a few feet up? That seems a bit more representative of the greater risk in transport over a few firm taps, plus it's the one worry I always see with these magnet setups that's never properly addressed considering if the force of impact is enough, there's nothing additional protecting them from impact damage. Whilst foam has its challenges, several firms now have reasonably costed custom cut trays and there's enough firmness but compression ability that I've never had any significant damage from several significant drops whilst carrying around or knocking off of a shelf.
Funny you should ask for this, yesterday I dropped the smaller box by accident from about waist height. it landed sideways on a corner on carpet. Not one model moved! :)
i had six RK Multi-case in black just filled with orc boyz - they would snap all to bits every time i closed the lid - why ??? because blue foam has a hatred of miniatures and is harder than a hard boy - also if you do not fill the case right up, with foam it can not be transported using the handle or shoulder strap - thus defeating the object - unless you have 25 foot of IKEA shelving to put minis, on , when they, are not in their box - magnetised minis in boxes are dust free safe do not need you to recycle money into foam, before you move them. and using a carry strap you can carry six boxes in one hand !!!
@@LizardofDoom Prove it or you're just pandering to your sponsor, I've seen these dropped, all the models inside move and break and the box itself breaks and is unusable after. As you're so confident do a follow up showing the box, full of painted minis, being dropped on the corner, from waster height on a non carpet (as most gaming venues are not carpeted) and show what happened to the box and models inside. Bet you don't have the confidence to do it.
No one will ever do a real world drop test vs the comparable foam on camera becasue they know that while foam may be the thing to pick on, or "old fashioned", when used properly it will always offer the best protection.
I completely agree with you about the zigzag foam cases, I hated when they went away from the old foam inserts (although I do own one of the zigzag cases, but I dislike using it for the reasons you mentioned). I own two or three of the older style cases and they've done me well for many years. As for the silicone nipple cases, I don't know what they were thinking. Something along the lines of "Why yes, we do sell a case you can only carry one squad in!". These cases look like they solve a problem. That said, I believe there are other companies who provide similar products, although I'm not sure how the prices compare. As you said, the only downside i the sizing of the magnets, I'd have thought with a little planning ahead they could have avoided that issue entirely.
I think GW realized other companies sold what they did for cheaper (and better) so went with something new and weird on the offchance it might attract more customers. Not seen anyone use thier cases irl yet...
Was really interested in this and was filling a cart to order, but the shipping itself to the US costs more than the box bundle and adding another set of the oval magnets, so unfortunately looks like I won't be ordering this anytime soon
Maybe worth an email to them saying you would of bought if it wasn’t for the costs, might give them a bit of motivation to sort it out. How many others have done the same thing?
@@LizardofDoom that's a good point. Might also have some sort of thing planned to eventually make some over here. I know I've seen that happen before with other products I've been interested in
hello :) thanks for the feedback - The issue we have is the shipping is the CHEAPEST we can get, it's very frustrating I'm sorry. FedEx always seem to be the most competitive to send to the states, and the rates we're showing are literally what we pay them for them. We are quite far ahead with setting up fulfilment in the USA, it's just been a bit of a lengthy old process, but we're getting there. If you haven't emailed already, please do so :) Really appreciate you showing an interest in the WarMag range! Thanks :)
@@ParallaxSound315 thanks for understanding :) I promise I've tried my best. We are quite a small team so I spent a lot of my weekends working it all out when I had enough free time. Yes I had lie-ins on those days but who's checking lol - I really appreciate your interest. Could you send us an email asking about USA fulfilment specifically? Then we can save your details for when we eventually figure this out :) thanks again!
Thank you mate 😄 Unfortunately the plants are all fake, I film in the attic which fluctuates between scorching hot and freezing cold, nothing survives 😂
I like those round base magnets because they're flush fit so if you use movement trays, they'll fit just fine without adding height (unlike like the ones you put on the vehicles). However, some of us that have old model on slotta bases, it would probably be easy enough to cut them to accommodate the slot. Now the newer bases that have those posts might require a hole punch of other tool. I'd like some of these but the shipping to the US is a factor and the last time I saw their website it was really difficult to find certain sizes.
I've always wondered when it comes to those transport boxes: What's the advantage of magnetizing the miniature's base and adhering it to a metal box bottom instead of adding a metal washer to the miniature's base and putting it into a magnetic box? What am I not seeing (besides selling magnetic stickers over and over again)?
I've been making my own with the exact same Really Useful Boxes, sheet metal, and a rivet gun. My models I've been magnetizing with 2x3mm magnets and milliput to get direct contact. I've never actually calculated how much I spend on all this, but if this is genuinely cheaper or at least equivalent to what I do than I might just switch for the convenience.
Good to compare with GeeDubs pricing, but what about if you were to buy the components yourself? Not sure what Really Useful tubs go for in the UK, but I'd imagine you're paying for convenience here.
I did it DIY with magnetic sheets, small neodymium magnets (which were superglued underneath the bases) and really useful boxes, and honestly it's not a big difference in price. A 9L really useful box is about £10, and on the warmag website the ferrous sheets are £5, so you're saving maybe £5 by doing it yourself, so seems like really good value to me, and I say that as someone who has done it myself in the past.
Heya :) thanks for the comments :) we don't get the best price for the boxes and as they take up so much space, and they take ages to pack/ship. It's been a bit of an experience tbh haha, as we mainly just used to shipping sheets and other flat items. For example, 5 sheets of ferrous/rubber steel takes up 180 times less space than 5 of the boxes does! So we've found that quite problematic. We've tried to make it as competitive as possible, and as we're a small family business, we just can't compete with big department stores like B&M and also places like Amazon! it's just not possible - I don't think it's a bad thing to be paying for convenience either. The sheets with designs on are very labour intensive as well, so they're as cheap as they can be really, and people do love them. We do actually sell the components ourselves, and we have been doing so since 2012 as "the magnet shop" - we don't sell the neodymiums because our whole thing as always been to make the rubber magnets tailored to fit the bases. Our new magnets that go inside the bases are super useful, if you want me to send you some I'm happy to do so if you can email us ;) Cheers!
@@HMJ66 hello :) thanks for the feedback, we've really tried to make it as cheap as we can for the size of our company, as we do have a fair few overheads - regarding the ferrous/ rubber steel sheets, you can get these from us as well, we don't just sell the designer stuff. People often don't realise we are actually "the magnet shop", that also sells that stuff and has been doing so for the community since 2012 - but we're also selling a lot of these materials now on the WarMag site for people who want to save money. We even have a discount code running at the moment until Halloween 2024 which is WARMAG-7 - I really appreciate your feedback once again :) Appreciate ya!
I use the silicone kill team case and like it a lot. In fact I'm looking forward to picking up the new expanded size silicone case. Pros: - Sturdy outer shell. Doesn't break or open when I drop it from 2 meters / 6.5 feet. - Flexible mini lock mechanism. The silicone sticks can wrap minis very effectively that stop them from moving almost completely. - Compact and small form factor Cons: - Opening the box upside down can cause half the minis to be stuck up and others down. Not optimal if you just want to look at your minis. Perhaps this doesn't matter as much if you use it to go play games. - Only works for minis up to 50mm bases All that said, I use magnet + metal sheet at bottom of storage box for most of my mini storage.
These look awesome, getting one for myself, it would be cool to see if they could do like a 2 level box in the future, don't know how it would work but we will let the engineers figure that one out
Even if I was still in a fit enough condition to go out gaming (I’m disabled and can bearly walk and standing is immensely painful) I just couldn’t afford GW products they have ramped the prices so much, it’s no wonder that 3D printing has become such a prominent thing in the hobby. As for the magnetic bases I used to put fishing weights onto the bottom of the bases (especially if they were a top heavy model) I actually did try casting the waste white metal into the shape of the holes in the slot bases but due to inexperience with casting molten metal I ended up with a nice little scar on my arm (it’s actually surprising how fast the metal cools …luckily) I could have got that to work but decided it was to much hassle.

Heh, I still have four of the original GW cases, with the red foam. The only reason I haven't switched to something better is pure laziness, but having the magnets precut to the right sizes should make it easier. They will be put to the test with my old metal models though and the slotta bases they come on And I do have my doubts whether they will be holding my old solid metal vehicles. (We used to joke about putting the dreadnought in a sock, bludgeoning the opponent to dead with it and it would come out dent free) Being a mieser, I noticed that the big box has plenty of room on the lid for putting in another lining for a smattering of infantry
@@LizardofDoomcould drill magnets into tracks on bottom of Baneblade, so if knights can stand erect then a BaneBlade should fit as well. I’ll be looking them up and see if cost effective to send to USA.
I bought 28mm sheet. 9.5 out of 10. The lost the 0.5 as the foam on some of the minis came away from the magnets. But a drop of super glue and it was sorted. Top tip, done throw out the left over bits, cut them up and used them on other bases, worked like a charm, it doesnt look great but really, when do you look under a mini, ironically the magnets haven't come away from the foam on these left over bits. But other than the tiny issue i cant fault the warmag magnet. I also got a nice wooden box off amazon 3 £35 with metal trays that has a handle.its very portable and can hold a 2000pt votann army with 3 tanks easily.
Heya :) thanks for the good review. You know what though, I'm realising recently that I think the metal trays are probs too strong for the magnets as they're pulling too much. I would say that metal is overkill, although we fully understand why people might want that peace of mind. Another thing that REALLY helps, is letting the adhesive cure for 24 to 48 hours before pulling at them. Plastic bases often have embossed branding/trademark info on the bottom and this can sometimes make it harder for the adhesive to adhere, but that was part of our reason for the premium foam, as it moulds to this hehehe. I'm so glad you like it, we've worked really hard on making it as convenient as possible. There's currently a discount running until Halloween 2024 which is WARMAG-7 - Appreciate ya! Thanks again for the 9.5 rating, it means a lot to me!
@@warmagofficial4658 thanks for the reply. In contrast the GW cases score way lower. Yes the models are safe when transporting but ive snapped so many bits of my minis in the past due to them snagging on the foam they are just not worth it. 4/10. Warmags are superior in every way by a large margin.
Sorry about the international shipping. We quite experienced in selling online and the cheapest we've been able to find is FedEx, and tbh their rates are increidbly cheap compared to say, DHL or UPS when shipping from UK to USA. One thing that will make a huge difference, is the volume of these plastic boxes. In America, the "Really Useful Box" we sell are actually a different size when it comes to their 4 Litre and 9Litre boxes, so we sell the sheets for these on our store, and if you buy those on their own then you should be able to make considerable savings on the shipping. It's not the weight of the shipping that is so much the problem, as the sheets and magnets are naturally very heavy. It's just the volume of these boxes as I mention, they just take up so much room that it's impossible to get cheaper prices. Thanks for the feedback :) Fulfilment within the USA should be on its way soon enough :) Appreciate ya!
YES you can IF you do not wont to be able to stack them properly or find magnet sheets the correct size - they are this size, because they are A4 sized
I use magnetic dots and magnetic sheet from the dollar store. Cheap and far easier than neodymium magnets. I use baking tins to transport, covered with cereal box material held on with rubber bands.
people have been asking, so I have bought some to check them out but they have varying depths on the inside of the bases. We could make hexagons that stuck to the rims of the bases, but this would add height to the minis. One of our customers has already told us they bought some of the premium insertable magnets we made, and cut them yourself to fit. if there are pegs in the way. What I can say though, is that the 25mm premium magnet we sell does fit inside the hex base that seems to be approx 30-35mm wide, depending on how you're measuring this. It's actually a great fit, just tested it on my desk as I'm speaking to you. This was a pre-assembled "inner sphere battle lance" - as you probs know loads of them have bits sticking out on the inside of the bases, but our magnets are quite versatile, so you can just cut them to size, but of course this just means that they won't be as strong. We should do a blog about it tbh. Would help!
@@warmagofficial4658 I am painting my new a Clan Ghostbear Supernova Trinary right now, of the 30 bases I have, none of them have the little bits in the hex base. The open space under the hex is about 28mm across and about 5mm deep, I believe the 25mm might just fit perfectly in that space. I am truly wondering how it hard it would be to modify the magnets for the bases where the pegs exist? Then with that, how much attraction strength you would lose in that process?
I've had a long old break from them and can now face them again so i'm going to be working on them in the background now and putting something out in the new year :)

Maybe I'm just being a cynic, but those boxes are available in B&M in the UK called "Really useful box" and that 9l one costs £8. A magnetic bottom on eBay probably costs about £8 for 10 sheets. Bit of time and effort you can get exactly the same thing for less so essentially all you're paying for is the pattern on the magnetic sheet and the custom cut magnetic base stickers. Really, really not sold on that at all. They're making a massive upsell on just pure convenience.
Some of the sheets on eBay/Amazon are pretty poor quality, I took a couple of attempts to find decent ones. But I agree cheaper way to do it if you don’t want the fancy patterns/colourful box. But having stuck my fingers together gluing little magnets to the bases of minis. The pre cut sheets that fit in the bases are excellent.
Heya :) thanks for the comment. Whilst I do really appreciate the feedback, I feel I should say some stuff though... Our 9L box costs £10.95 on its own and is £14.95 if you want a plain ferrous sheet, tailored to fit the box with rounded corners. I think considering B&M are a massive department store, and we're a small family business, it's not that bad really. Added to which we offer colours that they don't. We also offer the materials that can be used when taking a more DIY approach; we stock A4 (ferrous not magnet) sheets in our range and we have been selling to the community under the name "the magnet shop" since 2012. A pack of 10 A4 ferrous sheets costs £14.95 from us (0.75mmm thick) which I think is a very fair price. Of course eBay is going to have cheaper stuff but 9 times out of 10, if people are buying "magnetic" sheets, they're buying the wrong thing, because it's ferrous you need to attract to magnet. And of course eBay is going to be cheaper because it's full of Chinese sellers that can afford to sell things for crazy cheap. We created WarMag to give the community what they want and the response has been very good, I have put hours of my time into it and I still do each day, taking the job home with me. I know you can't please everyone, it's understandable, and everyone is entitled to their opinion... but I feel that I should probs reply based on what you've said, because it's on a public platform and it just isn't true that we are making a "massive upsell". Especially when you haven't seen our margins or overheads etc.. I will admit we've made things more convenient for people though! We spend a lot of time manufacturing most of these items, with the exception of the really useful box. A lot of effort goes into this, and much of the space in our tiny premises is taken up. People can easily go to Amazon or B&M and get the boxes elsewhere. The boxes we have don't sell that much and we just supply them as there was a small demand for them and many customers like the "one stop shop" system. Most of our customers just buy the magnets and ferrous sheets and get the boxes elsewhere, so we don't sell many of the boxes at all really. It's very hard to compete with big chains as most small businesses know. I think you'd probably find that if B&M sold Warhammer minis and other supplies, they would also be cheaper than the other things you'd get from smaller independent shops. We just can't afford to compete with them as they have massive buying power, plenty of storage space and many more staff members. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion though! I do appreciate the feedback, but if people make these kinda comments in a public place, I think it's fair to respond. Thanks :)
@@warmagofficial4658 @warmagofficial4658 Appreciate the breakdown reply from the company itself. It's also cool that you're taking the time to reply to both positive comments and criticism 😎. I still don't see the appeal, despite the explanation you've provided and the cost breakdown, as even if we take away the pedantic pointing out of "Ferrous" sheet Vs "magnetic" sheet I can still price up a do it at home option for cheaper. Ultimately, people will pay for convenience. Hell just look at just eat and Uber eats etc and I am super glad that people love your products. Maybe it's my DIY nature of doing my own jazz that is at the front here, but a £4 markup for rounding off the corners on a blank ferrous sheet is crazy to me now you've explained that bit. Awesome your business does well, just don't see the price difference for convenience being worth it at all.
The mini case by gw does not work, I tried to fit models in it and struggle, think I got a couple of genestealers in it ...its also very thin and cheap...think of those those plastic sandwich boxes you can get from tesco for a few quid...actually the tesco ones will be better
They don't pay, nor provide the option for you to, vat if you are outside of the UK. This is a huge downer because not only does it add additional VAT costs to the order after the fact, but also allows the carriers to charge you an exorbitant amount for 'handling' the import stuff.
Heya :) not really sure what you mean coz our parent company pays VAT - Would you mind emailing us about this so we can look into this please? We're a very small business so we haven't just been able to go fully international overnight, quite a lot is involved in this. Please send us an email and I'll see if there is anything I can do to help, as we'd love to have you using WarMag :) Thanks!
@@warmagofficial4658 I meant that as an international customer (e.g. EU resident) we would not be charged VAT (as per your FAQ), nor stuff like import duties so this falls to the carrier to charge. This means they add an additional 'handling' fee, like 10 bucks, which can be a quite hefty charge if you are say, ordering a 20 pound box. Don't get me wrong I understand how much of a headache setting up international shipping can be, but if we could pay the VAT/Import duties directly with an order it would save the additional costs of the carrier 'handling' fee.

They look good, but sadly, they won't work for Warhammer as it has square and rectangular bases. Perfect for 40k and Horus Heresy. I have loads of those useful boxes. I just need the magnets. If they ever do ones for Warhammer, I may have to pick up some of their magnets.
@hatesitrick I guess the joke was a bit too high for you to reach. These are for warhammer 40,000 (also inown as 40k), which had round/oval bases. Warhammer Fantasy Battles/Wargammer the Okd World, also known as Warhammer has square and rectangular bases. Hope this helps.
Would love to use Warmag, I enquired and the shipping cost to Aus is horrific...utterly horrific...the shipping costs more than the actual item, other people manage to ship globally without too much trouble, but not these guys...
hello :) Thanks for this feedback, but would you mind emailing again please? I would be good to have a chat with you to see if we can improve on anything. I'm wondering if this enquiry was back when we had our old website, and decided to turn international shipping off because we weren't able to calculate it accurately, or fairly, on the (poorly built) website we had. The rates we currently have are the best we can get for the little amount of items we're sending. We've worked very hard on the new website, and it now has a plug-in that literally displays the exact rates we're paying FedEx, who are our new chosen courier. We just weren't able to find anything else this cheap and we are a small company, so we don't have massive buying power for such things. We'd been using DHL before and it was utterly expensive, and we've found that FedEx seems to be the most reasonable in price/reliable. One of the big issues we face, is when people are wanting to order the Really Useful Boxes from us, as these take up a lot of volume and the price just naturally goes up. I want to ask, when you say: "other people manage to ship globally without too much trouble", could you please give me an example of who these other people might be, and what kind of items they are selling exactly? I only ask because it would help us greatly, because I'm always looking for ways we can improve, and if there is something we can do that's better, I'd like to try my best to achieve this for the customers. I think that ultimately, heavy items (which rubber steel and magnets are ofc), and large empty plastic boxes, are just expensive to ship unfortunately. Added to which, we are a fairly small team. We do really appreciate the interest and I'd love to get you using WarMag. It would be amazing if you wouldn't mind getting back in touch, quoting this thread, so that we can discuss this further :) Thanks again for your interest :)
There are dark tales told by longbearded grognards that the day a true gamer paints his last miniature is the day that he dies. It's not a Pile of Shame. It's an Immortality Gambit.
you mean to magnetise a clear base? I don't think invisible magnets have been invented yet but hey that gives you something to work on! See you on dragons den in 5 years!
hello :) thanks for commenting. You know what though... GW are annoying for that one! They made their "60mm" Citadel base to be 64mm, so we'd initially been hoping the fly base was going to be the same size, but the clear/fly bases are actually 60mm. The top area of the citadel is 60mm but the bottom bit is a larger diameter. But then for example, the 40mm citadel black base is even smaller in both areas. You could argue they're just rounding the numbers up to make it easier for people to remember/understand, but then why have one called 28.5mm? LMAO - Anyway... that being said, we defo gonna do a 60mm magnet for fly bases/clear ones, we have actually started planning this now so it will be released this year. We're not made of money so we're having to do stuff one thing at a time when we can unfortunately. Please rest assured it's on the way! Our 32mm standard range ones do fit the 32mm clear bases tho FYI - thanks again for the feedback!
The warmag cases are a slightly nicer presentation with the printed sheets, and slightly more convenient with the sticky magnet inserts, but they are SO much more expensive than buying a really useful box, some magnetic sheets, and some rare earth magnets. Especially when the boxes they are sending are literally just the "really useful boxes" so all you're really paying for are the printed sheets and the magnets and the convenience. I bought a bulk pack of "really useful boxes" and a pack of magnetic sheets last year, worked out to be about £6/box to kit them out to store my entire collection. Little bit more of a DIY option, but definitely something to look at for the more budget conscious!
Totally agree. You can buy the components of it a lot cheaper from other vendors. The only upside is the neat looking sheet which isn't worth the hike in price... since when do you really sit there and look at the bottom of your box?
@@xvanathemavx the sheet is neoprene (mouse mat) not flexy thin magnet sheet - it helps with bumps - most cheep sheets are not A4 so you have to cut one in half and glue it on - looks crap

Warmag does great products, even if its ultimately just the convenience of marrying an existing product with an easier sheet than doing it yourself. They are on the expensive side, but I burnt to much money on trying to DIY it and having sheets that didn't work, so its nice to know they will actually do their job.

Tbh if you compare it to other storage solutions like foam cases it's a lot cheaper. And the price of a normal plastic bin isn't much higher than theirs, so in that regard they are priced pretty fairly imho.

Been using these for a while and they are great. If you get a taller box you can put a magnet sheet in the lid and double up the storage in the box by having some models upside down on the lid.

@@jamesmaybrick2001 You can cut and trim the magnets with scissors.
definately like the look of this product. Currently have a couple of the Battlefoam boxes but need more storage.. Price sounds good based on current economic conditions so think i may have to try me some of these. Great video man, glad i came across it.
Same thing DIY, with a metal plate stuck on a box and neodymium magments under your mini. Bang! Done!
magments
Well obviously that's an option, but this is more convenient and potentially cheaper depending on how you do things and where you live.
Honestly, I don't really need the boxes right now, but those magnets are so cool! It would save a lot of time super gluing the smaller magnets.
Will be interested to see how these stack up against KR Multicases, no pun intended :P
I just glued 2p coins in the 32mm round bases (1p coins for the 25mm round bases) and then they stick to magnetised sheets in boxes.
Yes this is a cheaper method and you can buy magnetic white boards which are easy to cut to size
You have iron in your coins? I don't think there is a single U.S. coin in circulation that's magnetic.
Just bought mine last week!, the inner magnet bases are an absolute game changer!, my search for the perfect magnetic bases is over 🙌
I like the idea of the storage, but we use a TV display to put our miniatures on. Would the magnets mess with the TV?
no defo not :)

These look sweet and not too expensive either! Tis a win!
@@odycayblue stop it you're making me blush!! Really appreciate you.
@@DismemberTheAlamo Best protection vs dropping sure, but not again rubbing damage over time.
On the bus and train, I use a carrying-strap-with-handle for up to 3 boxes to make it easier, leaving one hand free at all times.
I know I've seen that happen before with other products I've been interested in

i have started geting the black ones three years ago = £20/£25 free shipping in uk - i love them - so tidy to stack
I've got a set and they are great.
Thanks for the Lizard Look. Will have to check this out soon over here in the US
I've been making my own with the exact same Really Useful Boxes, sheet metal, and a rivet gun. My models I've been magnetizing with 2x3mm magnets and milliput to get direct contact. I've never actually calculated how much I spend on all this, but if this is genuinely cheaper or at least equivalent to what I do than I might just switch for the convenience.
those magnet bases are nice but you cant use them with easy to build models because the bases have holes for pegs.
@@geertbeekman8680 very true but once the glue is set you can usually clip them off from underneath 🙂
Pros:
- Sturdy outer shell. Doesn't break or open when I drop it from 2 meters / 6.5 feet.
- Flexible mini lock mechanism. The silicone sticks can wrap minis very effectively that stop them from moving almost completely.
- Compact and small form factor
Cons:
- Opening the box upside down can cause half the minis to be stuck up and others down. Not optimal if you just want to look at your minis. Perhaps this doesn't matter as much if you use it to go play games.
- Only works for minis up to 50mm bases
All that said, I use magnet + metal sheet at bottom of storage box for most of my mini storage.
These look awesome, getting one for myself, it would be cool to see if they could do like a 2 level box in the future, don't know how it would work but we will let the engineers figure that one out

This is amazing! Too bad the cheapest shipping to me in the US is £32…
Sorry about the international shipping.
@@warmagofficial4658 yeah, I understand. And all I had in the cart were those perfect-fit foam backed sheets, no cases.
And you can go to hobby craft and get a whole host of other box sizes
YES you can IF you do not wont to be able to stack them properly or find magnet sheets the correct size - they are this size, because they are A4 sized
Looks good, and a great alternative to foam. I wonder how long the stickiness will last? (Of the pad to the base not the magnets themselves)
I use magnetic dots and magnetic sheet from the dollar store. Cheap and far easier than neodymium magnets. I use baking tins to transport, covered with cereal box material held on with rubber bands.
Poorhammer storage solutions.

Are they going to do Hex's for Battletech minis?
@@andrewparsons7876 not sure but it’s worth an email to them
people have been asking, so I have bought some to check them out but they have varying depths on the inside of the bases.
Sooo Lizard of Goon OF incoming?
Do they do hexes? i play battletech which use hex bases.
not currently but you could get a smaller size circle to fit within the hex :)
Nice. Better than the shoe boxes I currently use.

A good approach, but I've never seen the glue under the foil magnets last long enough.
But what happens when you drop it down the stairs? Does the case and the magnets hold up?

Maybe I'm just being a cynic, but those boxes are available in B&M in the UK called "Really useful box" and that 9l one costs £8. A magnetic bottom on eBay probably costs about £8 for 10 sheets.
Bit of time and effort you can get exactly the same thing for less so essentially all you're paying for is the pattern on the magnetic sheet and the custom cut magnetic base stickers.
Really, really not sold on that at all. They're making a massive upsell on just pure convenience.
I agree with you. That said, almost everything you’ve ever encountered in your life is paying for convenience is it not?
@@yonstenger To a degree for sure

Only in the UK

Still no option for clear bases...
you mean to magnetise a clear base?
@@LizardofDoom LMAO! 🤣
So you haven't varnished your minis... I mean... get on that.
