Ozzie is the best man. When I was a kid I asked him to sign a baseball card for me. He said yes and noticed I had a bunch of cards of him . He said give all of them. He signed like 25 cards . I still have all of them. I loved hoe hard he played. Yhem double plays with fred wow
Ozzie wouldn’t be able to deal with this year’s Sox. He can’t stand losing; it makes him physically sick. He also has no filter, so I can only imagine what he would say to his team or to the media.
The sad thing is, EVERYONE knows this. The Sox were so talented, they outplayed their manager in 2021. People remember 1983, but they forget how the Sox fell flat in 1984. Same thing happened under LaRussa in 2021-22. People also forget that LaRussa’s A’s and Cardinals were juiced to the gills. Not so Ozzie’s 2005 White Sox. But let’s not kid ourselves. Reinsdorf, Williams and Hahn (to a lesser extent) would not have been able to tolerate Ozzie returning to win. Reinsdorf believed Jerry Kraus’ mantra: “Players don’t win championships. Organizations win championships.” What Reinsdorf didn’t understand is that organizations can’t win championships if they let their pride and egos dictate their decisions.
The Houstons, Atlantas and the Tampa Bays have baseball people. This is why they have successful teams. The CWS have pretzels and Dippin Dots people. This is why the Sox have balk-off and 8-5 triple play losses. This organization is as interested in winning championships as Ford is interested in making Big Wheels.
The Chisox Really need to bring Ozzie in to manage for about 3 0r 4 years to get them back on the winning track. Let Ozzie burn a serious fire on these kids asses. That's exactly what they need.
Met both Ozzie and Ron Kittle 2 years ago at the final game of the season. Ozzie was rude, took 2 pictures with only 2 fans, no autographs, no conversation ... Kittle, took pictures with everyone. Signed everything and sat with my family (this would be my father's final game as he would die a few months later) A.J. called Ozzie out perfectly, while he may be a great manager, he's a real POS as a human being
I think you should cut a break to Ozzie who may have had a bad day. Keep in mind that the White Sox ran him through a fake baloney interview and hired La Russa two years ago. I met Ozzie and he was nice. My friend met AJ and he was rude to everyone. Maybe AJ had a bad day too.
as a lifelong Cubs fan, and growing up a few miles from Comisky Park, where I walked to the games many times as a kid, and followed baseball closely for a long time, what do I see ?? It would seem that Jerry HAS spent a lot to put good players on the roster. AND he is willing to give out a big $$$ free agent contract IF it puts the Sox over the top and be a serious playoff contender. Rick Hahn did a good job, he had horrible luck. Look what he did. The 2 big hitting young OF's, Robert and Eloy. Good INF, with Moncada, Tim, and Abreu. Solid starters, Giolito and Company, then he signed Lance Lynn and Liam Hendriks, the best closer in baseball. He added a solid catcher Grandal. That was a damn good team. Well, injury injury and more injury. And NOTHING coming through the farm system. Go check Sox draft picks since they won the World Series in 2005. What has it produced ?? WHAT rating does Sox CURRENT farm system have ? No,. not good. Hahn knew they had NOTHING behind the plate and made sure he got 2 catchers at the trade deadline. Sox scouts were the ones that needed replacing MORE than Kenny and Rick. Its gonna be ugly for quite a while. Thats what it looks like to me. What free agents are gonna sign here ? What young players from the minors are ready to make solid contributions to the big league club ? It has to start with a new scouting staff so they can start drafting correctly and build the farm system. Give someone else a chance. Hey Jerry, guess what ? Your plan is not working. Comments welcome. And yeah, Cubs farm system is LOADED now, good trades for young players and good drafting lately. But THEIR history is CERTAINLY nothing to brag about either. But they changed the scouts years ago, drafted Kris Bryant and Schwarber etc. As I said, IF the Sox draft and get some solid young players again, Jerry WILL spend the $$$ to put a good team together.
