Awesome I surprise nobody else make a video essay about this show I love how you added illustration the behind of scenes to get a morw depth with the storytelling
I'm one of those seemingly rare people that actually remember this show and watched it every Saturday morning. It was on around the tail end of Saturday morning shows and was what we watched before Soul Train. LOL! Pryor was definitely a man with demons. A product of the era of Hollywood he came up in, but when he was all together, the man did have a side that was really very admirable. FYI This is an excellent channel! Seriously the niche topics are always the most fun.
I discovered your channel very recently, & instantly subscribed! Looks like i discovered it just in time, for your return! I discovered Pryor's Place on RUclips, & was shocked & dumbfounded that i'd never known that Richard Pryor had had a Saturday morning tv series!!! Thanks for covering it. What episodes i have seen, i thought were really well written & entertaining. It's a shame it only lasted for one season.
Damn, dude. I just found your channel a few days ago. I thought it was pointless to subscribe, since you've clearly stopped doing this. Nope. Glad to see you're back.
Subscribed a few months back because I loved how succinct and to the point you delivered such dope information, but I did it with the expectation you would probably never upload another video. Was greatly excited at your return, and it lived up to that excitement. Great video dude!
Wow! Very cool and informative. I remember Pryor from back in the day but didn't know he'd hosted a children's show. Pretty trippy that the execs had the vision to actually go through with it. Amazing, really. Thanks!
Peewee was so uninteresting to me even as a lil kid. All the yelling an ludicrously done jokes. Go figure barney got big afterwards 😂 I grew up w sesame st gi Joe he man etc. 😂
Thanks for posting this. I used to watch a lot of Sid and Marty Krofft productions when I was a kid. There was always something a little off about their shows. Surreal to the point of being unnerving. But somehow I never caught this show. Too bad it only lasted one season. But kudos to Pryor for agreeing to do it.
Your work has been such a pleasant discovery - thankyou. With reference to your closing narration - please don't refer to what you create as "content". It's a term which cheapens and demeans creation. You make exploratory videos about bygone eras which are relevant and worthwhile mini-documentaries. This is not "content".
Welcome backk
The idea of a Richard Pryor children's show is hilarious to me.
Funny enough, George Carlin was in Thomas the Tank Engine as a narrator
Ever see The Toy and Bustin’ Loose? Pryor’s worked with kids before this show you know?
@@SaiOkami777And later on the UK narrator would be Ringo Starr shortly after he left The beatles
Feels like a spoof sketch from SNL or Fridays. Like, you don't want to believe it's real because it's so incongruous.
I found the old videos some months ago, glad to see you again.
Thank you RUclips suggestions! I really enjoyed this retrospective and the art is great!

This should have WAYYYY MORE than 3k views… you’re a professional!

Maybe this is what Jim Carrey's kids meant in Me Myself & Irene???? lolol "Daddy, let's watch Richard Pryor!"

Your videos are incredibly well researched. Also, whoever made peak Pryor a childrens TV host should share his cocaine.
Welcome back big dawg ❤ always a pleasure even if it’s bi-yearly
Welcome back.

Pryor's Place walked, so Pee Wee's Playhouse could fly.
Peewee was so uninteresting to me even as a lil kid. All the yelling an ludicrously done jokes. Go figure barney got big afterwards 😂 I grew up w sesame st gi Joe he man etc. 😂
Richard Pryor doing a Kid's Show is just bonkers.
Ever see The Toy and Bustin’ Loose?

Thank you for another great video 😊
Hey glad you're back
Hmmm, me-thinks that’s where Chris Rock got the idea for Everybody Hates Chris. Same concept except he dropped the variety show aspect.
I’m glad you are back. Could you do some histories of broadcast networks like Fox and the WB?
welcome back
Welcome back!!!!!!
I watched Mr Crocket last year and loved it, the inspiration for his design seems very clear
Willy Nelson on opening vid 😂😂❤
Fs in the chat for Marty krofft’s passing rip Marty 😢

Imagine if this lasted. Peewees playhouse was a little out there. Couple years too early i guess
