The Death of Hollywood Pictures
Просмотров 118 тыс.3 месяца назад
After the success of Touchstone Pictures, the Walt Disney Company expanded further into the adult-oriented film market with the creation of Hollywood Pictures in 1989. The label produced some huge hits for the company, but was dissolved with little explanation in the 2000s. In this video, we explore the history of Hollywood Pictures, and why, despite releasing one of Disney's biggest hits ever,...

Cry Baby Lane: The Banned Nickelodeon Movie?
Просмотров 15 тыс.3 года назад
Nickelodeon's first original Halloween movie, "Cry Baby Lane", never aired on the network after its October 2000 premiere. Was the film banned as many believe, or is there more to the story? In this video I explore not only the lore surrounding Cry Baby Lane, but also the history of horror programming on Nickelodeon. Twitter: channelserfer1 Instagram: channelserfer Sto...

I just want to understand why people think that resigning "in protest" ever helps. Quitting wont fix or change anything, _staying_ will. Now if its a matter of "I'm tired and don't want to fight anymore," that's different. If it's a matter of "this makes me unconfortable," that's different. But "I want them to change so I'm quitting" is just stupid.
Thank you for the recommendation RUclips 🫡
A request. The Death of Dimension Films.
That intro sound will Always remind me of Ernest Goes to Camp !
That’s when Disney Channel was good! Anything after 2003 from Disney Channel, I refuse to watch.
Originality and Creativity are dirty words at Disney. Touchstone would have survived, but greedy execs kept pushing for more. Hence quality suffers.
Thank you God 🙏🏿 And Disney…I moved to Burbank and used to walk along Alameda, where the Disney lot is, and say one day I’m gonna work there…and I actually did! Lol
Rip Touchstone pictures (1984-2016) 😭
I used to love FearFest. Last time I watched was around 2018 or 19 and I remember they just played what felt like the same 5 movies over and over, and not even good ones like they used to.
We would be lowed the video card on the weekend - and you could hire 3 videos for £2. Touchstone - or as soon as you heard the music, you knew it would be a great film.
Great movies are not always profitable and profitable movies are not always great. What Dino gave us was creative freedom and risk taking. Dino wouldn't have been making 27 Fast n Furious movies or endless Marvel movies. He was in it for the art, rather than the money. He was just naive enough to believe that making a great movie would be rewarded financially. European and US attitudes to movie making were even more diametrically opposed in those days. Europeans made movies for the sake of art. US made movies for profit. European movie makers were like renaissance artists, US movie makers were more like PT Barnum. Totally different approaches to mass entertainment.
5:00 what’s that ⭐️
The only reason i clicked on this was because of The Transformers 😂 The DEG logo skipped at the beginning of the movie
You left out the reason for Disney's recent failures as if it were just occurring in a vacuum. Disney went woke, and their movies are filled with woke ideology. No one wants to see racial remakes of cassics to somehow assuage some perceived offense by a bunch of race hustlers. Trans ideology is woven into every storyline. Disney has forgotten that its escapism that brings most people to watch a movie in the first place. Let the social issues be hashed out in the political arena, not in entertainment. If they won't stop their current direction, they will cease to exist.
Dino had hit huge hits and terrible misses, but he showed that taking risk is what gor him to be one of the most well-known producers in the world.
You missed the economic war the Hollywood clique waged against him, ask anyone working back then and you’ll get the whole picture.
Waterloo produced by De laurentis was really good, recommend it. It’s here on YT in fan cut.
Do not forget they issued laserdiscs as well
There was something about ntsc touchstone laserdiscs and dvds…..they were remakably well made, color focus tint aspect ratio, surround sound…..they were not labelled as delixe editions, but even being barebone editions, they were
You have a very boring way of presentation.
Libs and women took over is why
I think it's the first Disney film that ever used a curse word. The word "Damn!" is used.

I prefer by far his earlier Italian films. LA STRADA is excellent.
Really cool content !! 💯✌🏼🍔🍟
Simon Birch is a pox against mankind.
Great video I’d be very interested in a video about Vestron, Artisan, or Wizard
Nice video 🏆🏆🏆 Thank you Good Sir 🎩
These videos are quite interesting Great job 🏆
Funny how Disney has the same problem again recently with pushing these big budget films that have ended up floping and costing the company big time. They have not learned from Hollywood Pictures mistakes.
I'll wait for Orion, Carolco and Franchise Pictures video essay.
This video is more interesting than it implies - I’d actually watch it again Liked and subscribed! 🏆
Also, Manhunter is awesome.
Love your retrospectives. Cheers.
Year of the Dragon & Breakdown , Hannibal were Dino 's best films
Cool Video of De Laurentis Entertainment Group. Are you going to do Artisan Entertainment next?
I only know the label because of Deep Rising. It might have bombed at the box office but I love it. It's the best B-movie with a blockbuster budget I've seen haha
Disney also cancelled the Lizzie McGuire remake because they wanted it to be for kids, and Hilary duff wanted it to be for an older audience (the same audience that watched it originally but grown up) but now they put scary movies on Disney +. They really have bad judgement and play it way too safe.
All new Disney movies are soulless and crappy remakes now, they went with a safe bet (they thought) with Bob Iger, but he brings nothing new to the table. They just make crappy sequels and remakes now and the Disney magic is gone. Traded away for safe profits that prey on our nostalgia of better times.
thank you Dino for Dune
Awsome movies.
Dune really didn’t get the attention and respect it deserved- then again, the story has tons of details and if you never read the book , the movie wasn’t a great preparatory for what was playing out .
I think it's quite interesting that British Channel 4 stepped in with investment. They produced my favourite conspiratorial series Utopia that was cancelled after 2 seasons and somehow depicted a scenario of controlled pandemic to reduce population.
Hollywood made sure the fix was in on DEG. DEG's movies were awesome. But critics were bought out
I don't think Nick at night aired at 8pm when I was a kid because Doug was on at 7:30 and Rugrats was on at 8pm
Raw deal in manhunter are good movies manhunters exceptionally great
Year of the dragon is excellent movie
