Cry Baby Lane: The Banned Nickelodeon Movie?

- Nickelodeon's first original Halloween movie, "Cry Baby Lane", never aired on the network after its October 2000 premiere. Was the film banned as many believe, or is there more to the story? In this video I explore not only the lore surrounding Cry Baby Lane, but also the history of horror programming on Nickelodeon.

you explained it in the best way possible. people went in with huge expectations because of its history but you have to remember this was a made for TV movie for nickelodeon, targeted towards children. it’s not bad, but you can see it was made for a younger demographic and several of those who were disappointed have simply grown up.
IIRC, they also aired it in April 2019 (on one of the offshoot channels if not Nick proper) for their 40th anniversary. That’s when I saw it for the second time.
That all being said, The main reason they didn’t hear it again was probably the cardinal rule of horror movies; they’re just not a scary the second time around. Plus, remember that the turn of the century meant all the network executives were getting so ratings conscious that everything had to be formulaic, so all of the unique, out of the box stuff got put back on the shelf.
And you become the lost media itself, such a poetic moves ~~
Why are there not more watchers!? This is awesome
Honestly think animorphs would have done better if it were as gorey as the books. But I get that you can't show disembowled animals and aliens on kids TV lol.
Crap, blameitonjorge would be proud.
Rare childhood scares..PEANUT BUTTER SOLUTION, THE QUEST(FROG DREAMING)
Alex Mack was my favorite show!
r u tbe same guy with the other channel nick something?
I sure hope you haven't quit youtube, you're a great creator!
I was thinking the same thing. I had just found this channel recently and it’s a shame he hasn’t posted in a while. Hope he’s alright and simply busy with other things and will post again soon.
It has been confirmed by a Nickelodeon representative that the reason it was never aired again wasn't because it was too scary it was simply forgotten about.
Hey buddy just found your channel and I really like your topics, can you bring this channel back you really have something here.
Same, just found this yesterday. Great content
Same

I actually vaguely remember this airing. I was a college freshman at the time(I’m 41 now for anyone wondering), and I was at Vincennes University watching Nickelodeon when it came on. I watched it for a few minutes, and I lost interest and turned it off. Part of the reason is I’ve never been a fan of Nickelodeon live-action shows, although I have seen a few episodes of “Are you afraid of the dark” and thought it was ok. I don’t remember anybody saying anything about it or about any so-called controversy. I just assumed people like me tuned it and found it uninteresting. I have sense watched it here on RUclips, and I found it to be decent.
is this a dead channel?
I hope not but it sure seems like it.
I remember wanting to watch this movie but my Dad made us go to bed. I remember that he was then going to allow us to stay up later but decided not too because we were not laying in bed when came back into our room 😂
The real lost media is the loss of Channel Serfer.
I’m working on a new video
@@channelserfer that's amazing! I can't wait. I'm glad you're coming back.
I actually watched the film and it was actually very good
Your insightful, nostalgic explorations have a degree of vulnerability that often come from looking back in time to the safety and security of childhood. You’re under appreciated and absolutely earned my sub. Thank you and keep it up!
Just discovered your channel and I am hooked! You make amazing content on fun and interesting subjects for us millennials. Thank you !
I found about Cry Baby Lane as a kid and too this day it still scares me. I’ve seen it, it’s not that scary, but the pure white eyes on the groups of kid mixed with the low quality footage just scares me in a way nothing else has
Nice video, I'll make sure to watch the rest of your content soon. May your channel grow and long live the algorithm.
I'm glad the algorithm served me this channel. The content is great.
This whole time I thought it was a fever dream because no one knew what I was talking about
You know what's funny? I watched Nickelodeon around this time and I never saw this on TV.
Man Tom waits would have made this amazing

i never heard of this
I remember watching it and not really getting scared as i seen worse horror films as a child lmao.
Can you do a video on the #Halloween tree
Make a Video on ABC family !
Animorphs mention!
I would like to see those deleted scenes mentioned.
Same here. The second one sounds bizarre
Would love to hear more about these. I hope they were saved.
The Tale of the Phantom Cab was the first episode of the series I'm pretty sure. The tale of the twisted claw was episode 4.
Twisted Claw aired as a Halloween special in 1991, Phantom Cab was the official "series premiere" in '92

I'm sorry, I know frank as skeletor moreso than Dracula, sir.
I've been meaning to ask before you reuploaded, but I kept forgetting. Lol. What's the background music that you used starting at 6:49? I want to use it for a video I'm making based around my current special interest.
show name at the 3:58 mark?
What music did you use?
Could you please credit the music in this video?
lmao, came down to the comments to ask about the music, but it looks like I beat myself to it a year ago!
Try Noggin next time.
Great video. How comes it had to be reuploaded?
I was trying to make an edit to add some links at the end, and I guess there was a processing error, leaving the video unplayable with an error message. Apparently its rare but other users have had the same issue.
@@channelserfer I don't have A Drivers license You told Me You did I'm sorry Those Lines are Hilarious
Dracula? No, Frank Langella is best known for playing Skeletor in the 1987 film classic Masters of the Universe
