The WC module mimics a 1911 grip with mostly straight front and back straps, thin and rounded at the front and back, with a gently contour on the sides that is similar to what side panels do. Seeing how 1911's are what most people find comfortable and natural, this makes a lot of sense. Their p365xl grip module makes an even bigger difference for that gun.

Between the Sig factory and the Wilson Combat I wanted to like the Wilson Combat but I found it too slim for me. It caused me to fight to present the sights on target whereas the factory medium size module allowed me to align the sights upon presentation naturally and has a better overall feel in my opinion. Additionally, the sides of the Wilson's grip appear to be textured but are quite slick with sweaty hands.

I had a very hard time putting the Wilson Mod on my new Sig p320 compact. When I got the fire control unit out and went to install it in the frame, a large pin fell out of the FCU. I saw where it fell out, so I put it back. But when I went it put the FCU in, the take down lever would not go in all the way.

I have tried all of these grip modules except the Icarus Precision ($400 to try one out? nope!). But one you didn't try is the Sig AXG module. It, too, is aluminum and costs about $400, but I was able to try one out at my local range before buying it and found it to be by far the best fitting, in my hand at least. More like the X-series or the Icarus in shape, but the weight just makes it drop perfectly into my grip, especially with the brass LOK grips on it. Give it a try! I think you and your big hands would like it!

I run a rapid force level 3 holster from alien gear for on duty use. I found that drawing with the x grip I had to adjust my grip as I came up to the target. With the Wilson since it’s smaller and contoured I don’t have to adjust. Overall a cleaner draw.

I originally got my P320 with the original factory (not X series) grips, and from there moved onto the WC320 grip module. In my personal experience carrying daily, the more exposed mag release has been a non-issue. I experimented with an extended mag release and that was a bit too much for reliable hand placement, but with the standard mag release length it's fine. One thing I did have to modify about my grip is placing my thumbs so that I didn't interfere with the slide catch, but that was easy enough to address. The Icarus grips look great, a little out of my budget right now but definitely on the board for when I can justify splurging on gun parts again.

I only own and shoot FS P320 ‘s in IPSC and IDPA competition but I’ve tried different modules just to them check out. I primarily compete with a P320 Max , which is the top of the P320 line. I did high speed drills testing rapid fire group size with the TXG , AXG, P80 and Wlison Combat , all mounted with a FS Pro cut slide, Xseries FCU and a R1Pro. The TXG came out on top as expected , next was the P80, the WC and then the AXG . I’m guessing that the Icarus would have a similar recoil impulse to the AXG which is a sharp push to your strong hand palm . The AXG performed much better with Lok brass grip panels The ability to change the grip panels would put the AXG over the Icarus for me .The texture on the WC is pretty good but for pure performance, I don’t run any polymer grips without Talon Granulate tape as none of them , including the TXG have acceptable traction . The stippled grips on the P320 Spectre Comp module are an improvement on the standard TXG ( But I’d still tape them lol )
I can’t carry where I live so I realize that my experience is only relevant to my shooting purposes , grip style and hand size .
The modularity of the P320 platform really allows shooters the most options to easily find the best set up for their requirements.

I choose the Wilson Combat modular frame over the original factory Sig Sauer P320 M17.
I am pleased with it. It made an improvement in the ergonomics and my grip hold. The original Sig M17 frame is a shortcoming cheap cutting cost mass production decision to sustain an attractive price for the DoD. It worked.
The right frame for the M17 should be the one designed for the X series, but it costs more to get a better grip texture and a slimmer design 😉 So, the military got the low-cost end product.

I went the same route for my M18. I did think the WC grip needed some additional work though. I ended up deepening the trigger undercut, added a second undercut on the trigger guard, as well as serrations to the front of the trigger guard. I also raised the beaver tail as much as could without filing a hole through the plastic. With all of that, the WC grip absolutely makes the M18 a joy to hold and shoot. I also modified the takedown lever to work as a memory pad for my trigger finger and a gas pedal for my support thumb (it’s amazing what you can do with epoxy and silicon carbide).

I m leaving it stock I’ve thought plenty about flipping the mag release to the other side for index finger release and will try it eventually. If it’s good, it will be every one most likely. It’s personal & on certain guns the right mag release Extention can be a great inexpensive fix. I did it on a Glock 33 once & was much better,no downsides. Varies gun to gun. A lot of this stuff is putting stuff under a microscope that doesn’t need to be there. All good if ppl are buying,…sell sell sell. Then on to the new & improved. Thx G.

I have that same IP frame with a compact slide and I love it. The small amount of added weight feels good in hand and is barely noticeable when carrying. And I’m 5’6”, 130 lbs. polymer grips make my hands sweat like crazy regardless of texturing and I live in FL lol so the IP frame works well and the grip stays solid even when my hands are sweaty. Well worth the price tag imo. Also, my P320 is chambered in .40 so the aluminum frame combined with the thumb rest/gas pedal, it feels so comfortable. It may not be the “best” gun, but it’s the best feeling to me currently. And idc if the finish wears, I’ll just respray it with a matted clear coat. It’s only gonna happen again so I’m not worried about sending it back to get fixed. It’s my carry gun, it’s gonna happen eventually. Oh, and imo, especially with the longer slide, the IP frame helps to offset the top/front heavy nature of the P320.

The P320 has been a curious case, in my personal experience. I've always admired the P226 but the way it feels in my hand is atrocious, especially the trigger reach. I feel as if I have to dislocate my index finger and wrap it over my middle finger in order to reach the trigger, also the feel of my distal pad rubbing along the trigger guard as I pull the trigger makes the P226 a total deal breaker, (same is true for the P220, P225, P228, P229, etc).
But, with the P320 the grip feel is beautiful and the trigger reach is excellent. So much better than the P226 ! However, if you compare the two, side-by-side, they share a very similar outline. (SIG definitely went through the effort to make the P320 look like a SIG). The difference in feel cant be overstated, the P320 is very much its own gun.

    • @theKashConnoisseur

The two Sig branded grips are Mediums. The Wilson grip only comes in one size, and it's somewhere between a Medium and a Small. No idea on the Icarus because it's $400.

I just got the California M18 P320 and I wanted to change out the grip for the WC. I went to the website and saw the carry and combat version and now I'm not sure which one to get. Someone told me that I would have to get the carry being that the clips that come with the California will stick out of the combat grip. I'm not sure if that's true but if someone can confirm I'd appreciate it.

I have the after recall sig p320 compact and have the Wilson, Frank castle custom, second gen. Module, and polymer 80 grip modules and do not have to change my holster at all, even the one with my olight mini or mini 2

My favorite is the Wilson and the frank castle custom (mainly the looks)

Currently using the WC with tungsten rods and a Hogue overmold grip. Contemplating spending the money on the Armory Craft AXG aluminum grip frame with brass grips and steel back-strap. I've shot the Scorpion, but not the set up described above, and believe it would be ideal.

Not sure where this guy shops but there are zero frames out there for $9 or even $40. Most are $67 and up

@@GBGuns No I’m sure where I shop. And the multiple places I looked for frames for the 320 platform, still haven’t seen a $9 frame. So if you come across one of those unicorns without a safety let me know

We can't link to such places here on RUclips (that's why we have GBGunsDepot.com), but check the clearing houses, that's where I found mine. Dirt cheap places where manufacturers off load items they're fazing out or that didn't sell well.

So this gun has to be "tamed"?... I think a better title would be.. "how to spend twice or more the money", to tame a pistol that doesn't need it.
    Give me a break. 🤣🤣

No it certainly doesn't, and you don't "need" a steak knife to cut steak, but if something can be easier and more comfortable why not?
