    A similar route to my previous camp, but I really wanted to see the views I missed out on. I am so glad I went a second time. Only went down to -2 Celsius and with 30mph winds at some points. Will definitely make a point to get back up to Scotland in the future.

    Amazing views indeed, looks like it was a cracking camp, want to do a Lochnagar camp sometime in winter conditions, your start trail photography was brilliant, takes a bit of doing in those temps 🥶

    Looked like a cold one up there Rowan. Stunning views. I loved the star trails shot, what camera did you use and how long was the shot mate? ATB Jiffy 👍

      It was indeed, glad I went back again to get those views. Thank you, I use a GoPro hero 11, and the camera was out there for just over 2 hours, used 60% of the battery. Thanks again. Rowan.

    Some great views. Thanks for the video. For these conditions which tent do you prefer - the Nallo or the Vern 1?

    • @RowanWildCamps

      No thank you.
      That is a tricky one, because the both performed well and would have both coped if the conditions got worse. The nallo is lighter and smaller pack size so it was easier to walk with, but the Vern was a lot easier to pitch due it being free-standing, I would feel safer in the Nallo, but that is because I trust it and know what it is capable of (I do have a video on the way with the Vern failing on Dartmoor) plus the Nallo is a 2 man, so I had more room. For those condidtions I would say it doesn't mattter and I would use both equally. Both have their pros and cons as they are completly different designs.
      Which would you rather?
      Rowan.

      @@RowanWildCamps The Vern failed? Ooooooh, I'm looking forward to seeing how that went. That'll generate a lot of views I'd say. Which tent would I prefer? Personally, I'm not a fan of tunnel tents. I also prefer free-standing tents. I have a Staika, an Unna, and a Vango Helium 200 (they only produced this tent for a year in 2013 & then discontinued it). I did have a few other tents before those, one of which was a tunnel tent. Which would I prefer between the Nallo and the Vern 1? I'd pick the Vern 1 because of pitching style and free-standing. I'd also consider the vern 1 PC for some conditions because the fabric looks super durable. I'm defo looking forward to seeing your upcoming Vern 1 failure video! :D

      @@citizenwolf8720 Good evening, yes it did unfortunately (will provide a clear explanation of events in the video) and perhaps, I'm not fussed about chasing views I would go camping the way I do regardless, but when I get nice comments from yourself and others, it certainly has its ups.
      That is understandable, the Vern was considerably easier to pitch but I have a soft spot for good tunnel tents. You have a decent selection, I had also considered the Staika, but weight-wise it is similar to the Tarra which I was tempted by, but both are on the heavier side for what I would like to carry. Definitely agree about the Vern 1 PC, looks like a very robust fabric.
      Thanks, I'm working on it now.
      Rowan.

      @@RowanWildCamps There's a guy on the Nortent owner's group on FB who, just for the heck of it, decided to replace the poles on his Vern 1 2024 with 10.25mm DAC poles. 185g more weight for a significant upgrade in pole strength from what he shows in a short clip. Anyway, thanks again for your videos. I've watched quite a lot of them (even if I didn't comment under them).

    Epic camp that, were you arse or door into the wind?

    • @RowanWildCamps
      @RowanWildCamps  5 месяцев назад

      It was indeed. For that night it was tail into the wind (Hilleberg recomends vestibule into the wind) and if it was over 40mph I would have it vestibule into the wind, it is much stronger that way, quieter, and doesn't compress the living space.
