    Great Flight Skylite! Question, Are you planning on flying KoreanAir's 747-8's from HNL to ICN Seoul in the Near Future? Thanks

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад +2

      I would absolutely love to do that. It is on m list of ideas. Sadly it's very expensive. That's a minimum $800 ticket. Just for one flight. So, at the moment it's remaining an idea haha.

    The old terminal building a few more times...

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад

      Looking at my backlogged flights. I still have one more departure to post from the old terminal, and one more arrival. Then it's all over.

    • @marcbyrnes293
      @marcbyrnes293 Год назад

      @@sla31 actually like the original KCI. it was actually a really good concept, you'd be able to park(or rather enter the terminal within 200 feet of your gate. I worked for United at O Hare. The distance from the east end of concourse B to the west end of C was something like 1.75 miles. I know. I had to cover that distance way too many times.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад

      @@marcbyrnes293 I liked the old terminals too. But sadly, they just weren't efficient at all in a post 9/11 world. The idea of drive up to your gate was a great idea until September 11, 2001. The new airport in Kansas City is a major improvement over what had simply become an outdated and inefficient design.

  • @nikolauswolff5791

    What i really notice since years is that we have strikes in Germany almost every year in aviation. One year it's the union of the pilots and the next year the cabin crews. One year later the ground staff and baggage handlers. I never ever heard from a strike in the USA no matter from whom. Why is that so ? You have unions like we have and inflation is also a thing to handle. Hmm.....

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад +2

      Yeah, I was worried it would affect my trip to Germany last year. I missed it by like 2 weeks. The reason why you never hear about it in the US is because it's illegal for airline workers of any type to strike. They have unions and collective bargaining, but airlines and their workers don't fall under the standard set of regulations in the US. Instead of falling under the National Labor Relations Act, airline employees fall under the National Railway Labor Act. And in that piece of legislation it classifies anyone in the transportation industry as "critical infrastructure." It also prohibits employees in those sectors from going on strike. Basically making it illegal for airline employees to strike. And if they do, they are fireable on site, regardless of union affiliation or protection. You may have heard of the 1981 PATCO Strike. It's the only large scale strike that ever took place in aviation in the US to my knowledge. Air traffic controllers decided to strike, and then President Ronald Reagan simply fired all of them and hired new controllers. So that is why you never see strikes in the US transportation industries.

    Does anyone know why the smoke at 5:10?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  14 дней назад

      No need to worry. This was filmed in January and the temperatures were well below freezing. When jet engines are started, especially when the air temperature is cold, you tend to get this effect as the engine begins to produce exhaust. There's always small amounts of smoke when engines fire off, but when it's cold the effect is often amplified by moisture from the hot exhaust condensing. So most of what you're seeing here is actually condensation in the air and not actually smoke.

    How did you no aircraft types?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад

      Well, every aircraft has a tail number and if you don't know the aircraft type, you can then use that to look up the type. www.airfleets.net/home/ is a great place to look up aircraft. Just type the tail number into the search bar on that site and it will tell you aircraft's exact type.

    As usual... too much wing in shot. 😩

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Год назад +3

      I understand that not everyone wants to sit directly behind the wing. I sit in this spot often because this is an aviation channel and this is the best spot to sit if you want to hear/see all the mechanical workings of the wing, however that said, of my last 12 uploads, 6 of them have been from different vantage points so everyone get's something they enjoy. Roughy 50% of my uploads are filmed from in front of the wing/engine, or farther back behind the wing. Because I genuinely do try to have a good variety of content in all forms so everyone has stuff they like. And that's different airlines, aircraft, places/airports, and seating positions, all of it.
