    I love Mill Valley; it is really a beautiful place to live but the traffic has gotten out of hand; and now the state is making it worse by mandating even more housing in this little town. The one thing that has scared me the most however, is the fire danger. Combine the heavy traffic with the narrow winding streets and steep wooded canyons and you may be able to envision the nightmare of a wildfire burning up the slopes of Mt Tamalpais. The 1991 Oakland hills fire provides a preview, and it isn't pretty.

    I am a real estate appraiser. Totally agree with all of your comments. That is what makes it difficult to appraise in that market. So many variables to take into consideration. Also, Ross is hands down the best neighborhood in Marin, if you can afford it, especially if you have school age kids.

    I’m from England and I lived in MV for 15 years , before moving to Tiburon after a horrible divorce. I’m now considering moving to a floating home in Sausalito… I love Marin :)
    Couldn’t imagine living in San Francisco again, I lived there 20 years ago. SF crime is off the charts, education/indoctrination system is a joke and it’s in no-way safe for kids.

    Guess this guy would never live in a hilltown such as Sausalito, Monte Carlo, Aspen, or Taormina. Yeah, we need wide roads to make it easy to drive through neighborhoods--never mind the people who live there and prefer the "charm" that you don't get with wide roads (he probably complains about narrow roads in Montecito and Carmel too). Also, contrary to what this guys says Marin County restaurants have always been relatively so so with maybe 3 exceptions. Living in Marin is about getting away from public transit (covertly implying the people who use it), breathing cleaner air, and having more natural scenery to see and live amidst such as the ocean and the bay as well as the trees (or, as Cal Fire would say, "overabundance of tinder"). It's not about having level land and big yards and wide roads like most exurban sprawl that characterizes Phoenix and Las Vegas. How do I prevent RUclips from showing me this kinda stuff?

    • @seaneendelong8065
      @seaneendelong8065 2 месяца назад

      Yeah this is surreal, that someone MOVES OUT of a congested terrible roads and parking city to get away from the people and lockdown of all services....
      Directly into a string of small towns that have ALWAYS HAD congested terrible roads, horrific neighborhood parking limits, more people/homes than the abundance of trees would imply, and locked down/nuked small businesses and services even harder than SF did.
      I mean, and he was a LAWYER??? I guess it holds true that those with specialized elite careers rarely have common sense or practical skills and logical thinking. 💁
      Mind you, he's now trying to tell others to avoid the place- but is he really leaving Marin Co or just trying to stem the flood of City-abandoning expats?

      OK edit:
      He never left the City but thinks he can sell real estate in Marin?????
      Dude
      The 101? Wtf is he from?????
      This is hilarious to hear him expound on- with the supposed flat large lots near lots of shopping etc areas... I drive all over there in all conditions to homes and businesses and even where he claims there are flat large lots THERE AREN'T . Strawberry is absurdly hard to drive and park in, and most lots are crushed together
      I give up.

      Guess you don't want to sell to MV. People have lived there for over a hundred years. I did in the 60s. The road was very narrow windy. I'd be in town in 5 minutes. I know how it is today. It's not for everyone. Just the very rich that love the beautiful Town and area.

      I love Mill Valley. Very nice people there. There is even a song about the town. I went to seminary there from 1994-1997 at Golden Gate Baptism Theological Seminary.
      Btw, I was driving a beat-up Chevy S-10 with a crack in the windshield. A cop pulled me over because I stuck out like a sore thumb. Obviously I couldn’t afford to live there, so what was I doing there? He questioned me for some time, then lectured me to replace my windshield and drove off in a huff. Lol. I still love the place, but still can’t afford to live there.

    Mill Valley is safe. Kids and families walk to the center of town where there's a beloved grocery store, tons of restaurants, 3 coffee shops, outdoor eating, and more. There are public steps that take you down the hills and all through town. You mention Tam Valley neighborhood of MV as more ideal - but that's the "hood" relatively speaking. Sycamore park is a flat neighborhood, like the rest of America. We don't come here to live like we would in the midwest. Take a look at a map. We are living in and surround by nature, wildlife, serene views of the Pacific, the Muir Woods, and more. You've completely missed the appeal of living here, but thanks for the video and your point of view.

    • @austinklar
      @austinklar  Месяц назад

      Appreciate this. Definitely a lot to love about MV (lots of videos showcasing the plusses in the description). And yeah I didn't mean to imply Tam Valley as the good part lol. It was meant to say it doesn't have some of the physical characteristics I don't like about other parts. Sycamore Park is flat, but it's narrow and the lots are small. I actually like Strawberry a lot even though it is not walkable to downtown. It's convenient to get to downtown MV, Downtown Tiburon, and SF.

    Just go sell in Brentwood and San Ramon or something.
    You aren't even accurate about the lots and terrain conditions on the various places you prefer in Marin Co, and appear insanely oblivious to the actual environs.
    The comment about Kentfield vs Mill Valley lots is jaw droppingly off for example.

    I will always have a huge place in my heart for SF. ❤ There’s lots of community there if one chooses to participate, ppl mind their own business, Karen’s (it’s the truth. Sorry not sorry 😂) are shut down immediately since there are more important things to focus on than being on Nextdoor.
    I do appreciate the beauty, nature and calm of MV, how close it is to the 🌆 city and there are some really cool ppl, but I do miss the energy of SF.
    When I was in search of a home, it really helped to look at every property and neighborhood, in person, at night and on weekends to see if it was a good fit. It’s a lot of work but important.😊

    😂 U mentioning suburbs, but want to be able to walk to great restaurants & shops, as if u in a city.
    That's the trade-off. Everyone gets more space, but that space adds distance to all the restaurants in a city. The houses near the stores are few and all that extra walking is due to 2 or 1 story homes next to each other, instead of on top of each other, like say a high building apartment. 😅

    • @austinklar
      @austinklar  Месяц назад +1

      I could live in the Ross flats, Baltimore Park Larkspur, Woodland Rd in Kentfield, Forbes neighborhood in San Rafael and be within walking distance of what I want. And have more space in those places. I could be in the Belvedere lagoon and while lots aren’t larger they’re literally on the water (an ok tradeoff at least for me). People move to different places for different reasons.

I've done several transactions in Marin, including in MV--feel free to look it up it's all public record. My website has highlights from the past year. And of course thousands love living there, as I mentioned. And I understand why people do. Just like thousands of people love living in Texas, or New York, or Arkansas, or Montana, or Georgia, or Florida. Or in a 3 story house. Or in a mid-century modern house. Or on a farm. People have opinions and preferences, not every place is right for every person. Welcome to reality.
