You really are an inspiration Ryan. As a cyclist, who was off the bike due to having a young family for 4 years. Your videos have really inspired me to push more and try and get back to the level i was. 4 years older, and 3 stone heavier, but this year, having followed your Journey, ive pushed myself and im seeing results. Im not quitting throug the winter either and have got on Zwift myself and this week attempted Alpe du Zwift for the first time. Keep pushing Ryan your videos have also inspired me to start a vlog in the new year. Thanks again and Merry Christmas to you and your family
Ryan. What can I say. You are a true inspiration. I am 60 next September. Rather than do the usual celebrations I am doing lands end to John o’groats in nine days on a cycle for motor neurone research. I lost my father to it 20 years ago and it seems right to do it. I had a similar lifestyle to you and weigh about the same. I found Zwift 3 months ago and I am trying to progress like you. The age gap doesn’t help me though. 😱😂. I did ADZ today for the first time and completed it. Didn’t eat right but finished in 131.35. A lot harder than I thought. Your wattage output is amazing. Please keep posting. I need to lose weight but these videos are so helpful and genuine. Merry Christmas and thank you.
Lands end to JOG is an amazing and inspiring thing to do. Your father would be proud I'm sure. Congrats on your Alpe climb, age is just a number! Thanks for watching and commenting. 💪
this is so inspiring. I'm a similar age to you, the last ten years I've been fairly fit but let it go a bit during covid. then a year ago I got really sick, had arthritis so bad I couldn't stand up, and was diagnosed with crohn's disease, it's a lifelong remitting relapsing sort of deal. 3 months of walking on crutches or with a cane really gave me a brush with frailty and it's terrifying. it's been a real journey back to health, my first goal was just being able to walk my dogs again. now I'm on the right meds and the disease is under control, but what you say about trying to be the fittest healthiest version of yourself in everything you do really resonates with me. thanks for making these buddy ❤
Congrats on smashing the Alpe! Sub 90 is in reach. For myself, I ran a 10k in 54 minutes. More importantly, I’m back on full bike commute, which at the beginning of the year was totally unimaginable for me. 91 kg to a much more healthy (especially mentally) 77 kg version of myself. Yeah, this year rocked.
I teared up there as you crossed the line!! Amazing effort pal... 😢 I PB'd AdZ recently (3rd attempt). I shaved 13 mins off my PB and it's now 72 mins! Can't wait to go again!! Ride On bud 💪🏾💪🏾
Ryan, I think this is probably your most inspirational video to date. Great that you highlight about the small gains and making YOURSELF better, life is not a competition with anybody but yourself. If you can be better each day/week/month/year then you're winning. There will be times when you fail, but this is just a part of the journey. I think you need to start setting yourself more goals, as you're smashing every one that you've set so far.
I needed this video :) First, you're my hero, some time ago YT suggested me 'The Four Horsemen' video - ride which I tried 3-4 times and never completed (Alpine du Zwift takes everything I have and I can't finish last kilometers ;/). Congrats for finishing it, I'm very impressed! Your video inspired me to not give up and train more :) About 1% topic - yesterday, after 3 months I decided to ride Alpine du Zwift doing my 100% again, to check the progress and increase FTP... I did that (FTP +4w, took ~18sec less time) and I felt depressed, because the progress is small :/ Now, I see - I should be happy because I did some progress and I shouldn't feeling down, because it wasn't a huge increase as I planned. When I analyze this year (bigger picture) I feel impressed - during last 9 months I went from dying after a 1h ride with 210W to feeling ok with 1:30h ride 235W and going from AdZ 67mins to 58:53. Because of cycling and flat renovation (IT guy doing physical work) I gained weight (+5kg) this year, still losing some fat (my current fat level is around 13%). Finally, I feel better since I wanted to be heavier without being fatter :) Thank you for the video and possibility to sit and summarize my year!
If I get no more views and comments (I hope I do 😅) then this comment makes this video worth while. That fact you have the self awareness to appreciate the small wins means you'll succeed. I'm pleased you reflected on your year and took some pride in your accomplishments. 💪 Thanks for watching and commenting.
Absolutely smashed 100min! I started watching you around a month ago and love your videos and mentality. Just did my second Alpe de Zwift attempt and got 58:10. Keep moving forward through the years to come.
@@TheMoodyedge good luck! I found when easing back into it it was nice to just focus on riding and not worry about the effort too much. Then once you're back in routine you can start going harder if you want. Collection route badges is good motivation and I did an alpe du zwift climb on the weekend with my extra motivation 👌
Absolutely amazing stuff man I’m 23 and have taken lots of inspiration seeing you work really hard you’ve even convinced me and my friends to do a park run! Keep up the work !

First of all my respect for your achievements since 2019. I am also a heavy rider with 125 kg. And today i did my first attempt on Ald du Zwift. I did it in just under 133 minutes. Just like you I set my goal to do it under 100 minutes. I also ride outside.
Ryan it is the youtubers like you that give a hefty fellow like myself inspiration, I started cycling in SEP 2021 as a early 30s yr old man at 300#. Currently at 280# after gaining some of the weight I lost back (bad diet choices). I completed Alpe Du Zwift for the first time in JAN 2023 and it took 90mins to get up the mountain. I started training for a race in APR in JAN as well, so in APR a week before the race I decided to try the mountain again, and made it in 83mins!! I started back into training for some races I want to do next year and in JAN I plan to tackle the mountain again and see if I can beat my APR 2023 time!! Keep being inspiring man!!
And commenter's like you are the reason I keep making these videos. Thanks you for taking the time to write this. Welldone on your ADZ time of 83 mins, great time and I bet you'll smash it in 2024. Merry Christmas.

Another great video Ryan! Your videos are full of not only great positivity, but also genuinely constructive and supportive messages. My smart bike arrives next week as you’ve inspired me to get on Zwift, it looks hard, but a lot of fun.
Another 10/10 video. You've pushed yourself through some insanely tough challenges and come out the other side stronger each time. Amazing to watch, and even better to see all the positive comments on the video of people who've found your content inspirational. And the AdZ time? Dude, just awesome. Absolutely killing it now. You're going to start smashing that down now. I did my own attempt at a PR on it yesterday, and I kept thinking about this video all the way up.
Never realised how far you came. Been watching your videos for awhile because I started cycling and began watching zwift videos and stumbled upon your channel. Keep up the content and thanks for sharing your story
Congratulations Ryan. We have been following your journey for a few months now. You have inspired us to continue pushing on with our own fitness goals. We are planning on ending the year with one last big challenge. Strava's Rapha Festive 500 challenge. Between Christmas Eve & New Years day you ride 500 kms, all for a Strava badge. Lol. Good way to help keep the Christmas pounds off. Maybe a good way to end your year too? Merry Christmas.
Great stuff as always! You got me by 1 sec! 92:22 was my best this year up the Alpe... there are still a few days left though ;) Particularly enjoyed the Mark Lewis dismount from the bike. Looking forward to hearing your 2024 goals; my 'Misogi Challenge' next year is looking like a bike ride the length of North Carolina, on a fat tire bike, on the beach, carrying a raft for the 18 water crossings, maybe i'll even video it...
Legs gave way when I got off. Just didn't want to hit the ground hard. There is no way you can let me beat you... ;) That challenge sounds both fantastic and great fun. It would be a real shame if you didnt make a video... :)
Fantastic work Ryan! I love your movies and I know that it takes a lot of work. But oh my what a way to crush your ADZ PB! Love the way you think. Relentless Forward Progress is the way to go, it drags with it Consistency, drive and it builds a strong character. You said it yourself that Consistency is key. My ADZ pb is 44:36 set on 2. October this year when I went up the ADZ just to se how far I have come with my progress. I had not done a try for over a year then on the ADZ and my previous pb was right over 60 minutes. So I must say I was surprised to see that I had sub 45 minutes in me. But the story is I started out for the first time way over 100 minutes in 2020. Tomorrow I will tick of over 22000km this year on a bike(Indoor an outdoor) and over 630 hours in the saddle. Never ever done so much in one year, my best previous year has been a bit over 10000km. "I do not stop when I`m tired. I stop when I`m done". Best of all from Winter Wonderland Norway :)
Thanks for the comment Richard. Hi all the way from Norway. That's some amazing progress, congrats on the sub 45 mins. That's serious going. 💪 Thanks for watching.
Wow, well done! After the Silver Stoneman Taurista last year, but just around 400km on a bike this Year I joined Zwift recently. I'll try the Alpe in 2 weeks when my bum is ready for 2 hours in the saddle 😅
Having only recently subscribed to your channel this video is inspiring to say the least, I kind of come from the other end ie I joined my local cycling club at an early age, raced got extremely fit then found alcohol & have been on a slippery slope ever since. But this latest content has given me inspiration thank you💪 keep up the good work 👍
Thanks for the comment Andy. Everyone's story is different, I'm still working on the extremely fit part. 😅 I'm pleased I've inspired you. Hope you get back there again. 💪
I'm going to lay on the shower floor... After the garage floor 😂 love your enthusiasm buddy and looking forward to seeing your new-year goals. Absolutely smashed your PR BTW 👏
Crushed it well done, I will be back in week with my marathon PB, it was a good year for me, last year I hit the all hard gave it 3 PB hack in December, 22 best time was just over 67 minutes.
@@RyanCondon thanks so much, I’m going to give it hell😂. I did a 20 week block dedicated to the marathon and I score myself. 6/10 on it. I know I can do it, it might be a bit presumptions but it will kind of feel like your running right beside me when things get hard.
@@RyanCondon you joke, but I fully believe you can and will do it. Might take a year, might take more, but your determination and drive is off the chart. Have you any intention to ride outside for real next year or are you sticking with Zwift? You are smashing the running, and no doubt you’d smash some sportives and rides like the Ride London event too.
@@TomPhotoix I was going to sign up to Ride London but Im getting married and wouldn't win that choice. 🤣 But I have signed up for L2B ride. Thanks for the vote of confidence, I appreciate that. 👍

Class video this!! You are currently the inspiration/motivation I need to get my fat arse into gear! Have the Glencoe challenge in Scotland next year booked but will be booking much more. Keep up the good work Ryan👍🏼💪🏼
Subscribed! Looking forward to seeing updates from you. I just discovered Zwift 10 days ago and found you through your Zwift videos. Do you have any principles to share for someone wanting to do the same in terms of goal setting? Looking forward to your new year's resoution video
Ok, good but tough question especially as I don't yet know all the answers however I'd say that you should race and ride your way to at least level 15 and embrace all the failures (of which you will have alot) and use them as a springboard to something bigger and better, eventually and you'll know when this happens. Don't take yourself too seriously and have fun. Don't set yourself any targets yet other than learn the dynamics of the 'game' then set a decent FTP target to aim and race towards. "They" always say to be an expert at something, you have to put in at least 10k hours. This deffinitely applies to Zwift. I'm no expert but happily on the journey. Thanks for the watch and the comment. Welcome on board. 💪
Just found your channel, seen it in suggested vids so clicked and watched a few, including your Alpe Du Zwift videos 👍 Good stuff. Inspiring. Subbed. Will go back and watch a bunch of your others to see what I've missed. I started road riding in July last year (2022) at 39 yo, after wondering what the appeal of it was, especially all the climbing up hills? What is wrong with these people I thought? Well I got the bug, bought my own bike and rode the Fred Whitton Challenge this year in 9h 47m. Completed it without walking which was the aim. Turned 40 in june and am still riding but have really let it slip the last 6 months. Motivation has been at an all time low. I have been using road cycling/exercise to battle anxiety and depression. Have now thrown in swimming and sauna sessions 5 times a week. All in attempt to avoid reverting to SSRI. Regarding Alpe Du Zwift PBs....I just managed a 66 mins 4 sec which is 40 seconds quicker than my PB of 66:46...Really want a sub 1 hour, so must work my way back into it and hopefully acheive that goal. Have entered the ballot to ride the Fred next year too, so will hopefully get a place, it will give me something to focus on. Zwift really helped me train for the Fred over winter so I intend to use it again. If I get a spot next year I will be going for a time, not decided what time yet but I think I could shave at least 1 hour off, especially with managing to get the fuelling right. Getting enough fuel in on the ride was very difficult.
That's fantastic to hear. Welldone on your 66 min ADZ PB. That sub hour is deffo within sight. I've never heard of the Fred W challenge? Tell me more. Good luck in your training. You've got this!! Thanks for your comment and I'm pleased you liked my vids. 👍🙌

Always enjoy your blogs, some one who raced through the 70s just like to say British riders were basically amateurs who weren't state sponsored on drugs. They got a kick in in the peace and milk race by East Europeans yet still battled away. When lottery funding came in and the sport got " cleaner " we are now seeing fantastic performances by British riders across all disciplines. If back in the day a bike supplier refused to sell a bike to a certain Mrs Burton they would have been mad , not that she would have riden a foreign bike away 😅
Ryan, I love your videos and really look forward to them every week. Although I get the 1% analogy and it was a book you were quoting, but I think Brailsford and Steve Peters get a lot of credit, some of which might be due elsewhere. There is a great history of cycling with Tommy Simpson being world champion, Barry Hoban winning multiple tour stages and many others from the mid-60s onwards. As the comment above suggests the lottery funding and world class performance programme introduced by Peter Keen was pivotal and followed his coaching of Chris Boardman on the track was really where marginal gains originated. Having said all of that, Brailsford’s delivery of the ambitious plans with Team Sky and the work of British Cycling academy were key to improving cycling in Britain, but the riders themselves deserve the main credit.
Thanks for taking the time to comment Nigel. I will have to bow to your superior knowledge here. I was quoting the book Atomic Habits, interesting read but I can see how the story may have been streamlined. 👍 I should know better than to throw out random cycling facts with my new viewer base. 👌
Thanks for commenting Roland and for elevorating on Nigels point. My knowledge extends as far as the book I was quoting (Atomic Habits). I should have known better than to assume it was as straight forward as that. I was focusing on the 1% aspect more than anything but you're right say what you've said. I'm pleased you like my vids. I've got a big Zwift one coming this week Friday. 👍
I only recently got on Zwift also 😂 I attempted alpe de Zwift once & nearly died 😂 so good on you for riding it more than once 😮I’ll let you know when I’m brave enough to try again 😂
Not everyone has the luxury to pick and choose a job especially if youve got a family to support. I agree that mental wellbeing is important but so is paying the mortgage and I'd argue no one really knows if they like a job until they've been there at least three months, I always had this rule and if I hadn't I wouldn't of been able to achieve the funds that allowed me to walk away and setup my own business. Same rule applies to most of lifes requirements. 👍 Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Mark.
@@RyanCondon Agree to disagree on this one. 3 months, that's ridiculous unless you are a Martyr. Move on and put yourself under pressure to find something else. Like I said we aren't going to agree on that one. I was your 400th sub and well done on exceeding 2k but turning into "I know everything" channel. Good luck with your journey.
@MarkBruceUK It depends on your philosophy. Personally, I agree with 3months trial. I had multiple situations when I was doing sth which I didn't feel right. It helped my to understand many things, have a better picture in some topics. Thanks to these "trials" I was able to define multiple do and don'ts in my life :)

There is no way you can let me beat you... ;)
That challenge sounds both fantastic and great fun.
Thanks for watching.
just came accross your channel. Nice work and good videos. I Zwift as well and agree 100% that the races are stinkin hard. Press on.
Welcome aboard. Pleased you like the vids. 👍
Inspirational as always and thanks for answering my question in the previous video. I would subscribe again to your channel if I could.
I'm pleased you saw it. Thanks for asking the question. 💪
Wow, well done!
After the Silver Stoneman Taurista last year, but just around 400km on a bike this Year I joined Zwift recently.
I'll try the Alpe in 2 weeks when my bum is ready for 2 hours in the saddle 😅
It's never ready for that. If anyone invents a mini sofa as a saddle they'll be millionaires.
I'm pleased I've inspired you. Hope you get back there again. 💪
Another inspiring video, Ryan. So great to see you thriving. Merry Christmas and all the best in the new year.
Merry Christmas Steven. 🎄
Brilliant, well done!! My PB 2hr 4mins 56sec! Wasn’t right for 2 days afterwards lol. But definitely gonna have another go. Thanks buddy!!
That's a great starter PB. I know that feeling of a two day recovery. Good for you!
I'm going to lay on the shower floor... After the garage floor 😂 love your enthusiasm buddy and looking forward to seeing your new-year goals. Absolutely smashed your PR BTW 👏
Yes lol. I didn't expect that until I realised my legs didn't work when I stood up. 😅
Thanks for watching Stephen. 💪
Crushed it well done, I will be back in week with my marathon PB, it was a good year for me, last year I hit the all hard gave it 3 PB hack in December, 22 best time was just over 67 minutes.
Good luck in your Marathon. I bet you'll smash it!
@@RyanCondon thanks so much, I’m going to give it hell😂. I did a 20 week block dedicated to the marathon and I score myself. 6/10 on it. I know I can do it, it might be a bit presumptions but it will kind of feel like your running right beside me when things get hard.
Great job on the new alp PR! Massive improvement!
Thanks Tom. Only another 32 minutes left to shave off for a sub hour. 😅
But I have signed up for L2B ride.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, I appreciate that. 👍
Congrats Ryan, Smashed it, your vids are inspirational , Back on Zwift seriously Myself after almost two years not really bothering. Well done keep pushing and Merry Christmas to you and your Family 👍👍
Keep going! 💪 And good for you for getting back on it.
Merry Christmas! 🎄
Class video this!! You are currently the inspiration/motivation I need to get my fat arse into gear! Have the Glencoe challenge in Scotland next year booked but will be booking much more. Keep up the good work Ryan👍🏼💪🏼
Good luck on the Glencoe challenge training. Thanks for the watch Dan. 💪
Great video, very inspirational.
Great ride!!
85min.😊thanks, for all video you did😢😅😊
please please make it a 2025 goal to go to the alps and climb Alpe d'Huez IRL I would absolutely watch the living sh*t out of that content
That would be awesome!
Nice work on the Alpe PB! Sub 90 soon!
I think I'd have done sub 90 if I hadnt lost track of my time and assumed my ghost was my 100min PB.
If I did it today I reckon I'd get it under 90.
You smashed it! Well Done! I guess PB on Alps is arround "i don't know" :)
Cheers Andy. 😉
Massive effort mate! 🙌 Love to follow your journey. I also follow Mark Lewis. He is inspirational and have some fun PB' on Alp d Zwift.
Thanks Bjarnestrand. I'm pleased you enjoyed it.
I also enjoy Marks videos, I agree he is very inspiring to watch. 👍
@@RyanCondon Maybe a colab in the furure?
92:01.64 is my PB. 😅😂 Good Job! Love your videos.
Fair play! That climb is not easy. 🙌
@@RyanCondon Did a 1:06:07 on the 9th dec which was my PB and just managed a 1:02:17. Sub 1 hour seems impossible! Maybe if I lost 25kg
@@TheMoodyedge but it's sooo close!
congrats on your parkrun I go everyweek Your four horsemen video got me to do it today.
How did you get on?
@@RyanCondon I enjoyed it lucky I listened to you and ate well before I started lol 4.19 not crazy pace I got into zwift last year and brought a wahoo at xmas I'm a runner but am loving zwift and finding it helps with my running too.
@@lukevirtualgameruk3523 welldone. Smashed it. Zwift is so good for run training.
@@RyanCondon Cheers mate, you done awesome with the weight lost keep it up.
Well done buddy I always forget my towel when I'm on zwift to.😂
Everytime bloody time! Without fail... I always forget it. I even bought three colourful ones in the hope I don't forget them and I still do. 😅
You could be very successful in motivational speaking, maybe even write a motivational book.
The bit where you went into your zwift room, switching on all the switches, made me think of back to the future when he turns up the guitar amps up to full before it explodes 😂
I did think of this scene from BTTF too. Great minds!
Thanks for the kind words.
Wish I was as dedicated to food/motivation as you (think I would win an Olympic medal) 😂
You smashed that PB 8 minutes!! Woah!! Massive gains
I spent 30 years being the complete opposite. Wish I started sooner.
Star Sport Name Cat. Dist. Elev. Diff. Avg. Grade Men Women My PR My Goal
Ride Alpe D'Huez 14.1 km 1,096 m 8% 44:00 51:00 1:01:40 --
Run Marathon de Paris 42.1 km 44 m 0% 2:30:00 3:00:00 3:36:40 --
Been back at it after 18 years off. was B/A grade racer and 36 min 10K runner. Was 109kg, not 78 after 8 months
So got both goals by a few seconds.
sorry those numbers dont look right. I was sub 1 hour Alpe by 20 seconds, and ran 3:28.. weird
I should know better than to throw out random cycling facts with my new viewer base.
done it 2 weeks ago second time at 1:09:29.3 with a average of 205 Watts / 2.77 W/kg
Everest Achievement Badge on ADZ in 2024?
I've been asked this before. What is it, 8 times up the Alpe? Im not scared of the effort but I am terrified of my ar3e being destroyed. 😅
I only recently got on Zwift also 😂 I attempted alpe de Zwift once & nearly died 😂 so good on you for riding it more than once 😮I’ll let you know when I’m brave enough to try again 😂
Let me know how you get on. Thanks for the comment. Good luck on Zwift.
What's your business?
Hard work and time consuming.
Stick at a job you don't like for 3 months!!!
Sod that I'd rather turn Vegan 😉
But I do agree about the Christmas decorations!
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Mark.
@@MarkBruceUK call me opinionated, that I couldn't disagree with. I think I'm pretty open that I don't know everything. On the flip of the convo, thanks for being my 400th sub. I remember your comment at the time. 👍
Level 21 zwift cycling, cat C, level 2 zwift running. 😊
