Great vid! I like to use a battery powered leaf blower to clear off excess water and a spotless car wash water system to minimize hard water spots. Makes drying the boat much easier and quicker.
Started using Shine Supply after watching your videos on our older boat. Super easy products that have transformed the boat. Heavy cut with microfiber on a DA, then wakeup with an orange pad on the DA, followed by Punch-it. Made our 20 year old black boat shine. It would be great to have a series on what products from Shine Supply to use on campers and how to tackle them. The decals on campers always seem a little more sketchy to use with any powered buffer or DA. They don't seem to be as high quality.
Yeah, the decals on boats definitely hold up a lot better to buffing. Thanks for you positive review on shine supply!!! They have amazing products and they are amazing people!
Stay off the decals on the RV but you can use a magic eraser and maybe purple power to clean them. I have a decent detail business in south Florida. Drake has taught me many useful methods.
I’m very new to boat detailing and cleaning services, we own a luxury cleaning service for commercial residential and now looking to do boats. What would you recommend to price the job by, by ft or by hour? How do you make and set your prices based off the boat. And lastly, do you take payment after a job or require deposit and then final payment or just all up front. We deal with some places not wanting to pay after a job which is why I require a job paid beforehand but I also figure most people getting boat detailing, are wealthier and probably would pay

Thanks for making these. They have really helped. One thing I haven't seen is if you use any different techniques/products for boats that have been Awlgripped. What would you recommend to remove, polish and protect an Awlgripped boat? I've always used a wool pad on my Dewalt until recently watching your vids about pads.

You don’t need a super powerful one. An electric one from Hope Depot will do the trick. Hi Drake, looking into boat cleaning and came across your videos awesome stuff!! Do have one question, we are going to be trailering extensive amounts with boat, wondering if you could elaborate provide advice on removing bugs and road debris from boat from road travel(I'm thinking bugs splattered on tower, etc.). If there is any additional products or if its just good elbow grease and washing with Shift Soap, and if there is any tools. I know bugs/road grim can be tough to handle from cleaning vehicles, I typically use a degreaser for stubborn spots, with boat we would have a ceramic coating.
Hey bro! If you plan to trailer the boat, I’d recommend that you do a ceramic coating. The bugs will come off with just a light rinse! However if you just have a sealed/waxed boat, shine supply makes a good big remover. shinesupply.com/products/bug-off
@@DrakesDetailing Thanks for the advice! I think our plan is to use a ceramic coating for boat so maybe I'm over complicating it. Just wanting that year round shine!! 😁
1st time here. What do you recommend for an outboard? Also, I have a 2022 Ranger 188P. Can I wash/wax it the same as a fiberglass? Thanks! I boat all the time so hopefully I learn something here! God Bless!
Thanks so much, bro! Yes, rangers should be fiberglass so all normal processes should still apply. For an outboard motor, the paint is usually send on those so I would recommend just washing it with regular both soap, and then using a TA polisher to wax it for protectant.
Hey bro, if you want to clean Sedek really well before you detail about, you can take Zep, purple, degreaser, and a short, bristle, stiff Libman brush. It works amazingly. However, be careful if you’re doing it around a sealed surface as the degreaser could strip the wax from the nearby surface.
Hey bro! I don’t have a video on that in particular. However, in some places, you just need to blend it in by hand and make it look the best you can. Or, you can invest in a mini machine, much like the one Rupes makes: www.rupes.com/product/lhr75e/
@@DrakesDetailing thanks for the response Drake! So I do run that 3 inch Rupes machine and also use the mini ibrid Rupes machines as well but trying to get a little bit better with it. Hey man Love the videos and your work!! Will denatured alcohol take away black scuff lines on the hull? Kind of nervous and also wondering about if I do other boats with painted surfaces that it's safe and won't ruin the finish.
Hey bro, yes it will take the black marks away, but it will strip your wax right off the boat. If you are doing a deep clean before you buff and wax it’s okay, but once you buff, polish and seal your boat you cannot use it because it will ruin the finish
Hi Drake, I'm detailing my first boat. The boat is covered in water spots. I buffed them off with a foam cutting pad and Adams compound. The spots came off, but now there is a haze that won't come off with polish. I tried using several different pads, and polishes, including Adams one step, but the haze is still there. Any thoughts?
I did a prep wipe. I detail cars, and I understand that process, but I've never worked jelcoat. Tried polishing with a heavy cut compound, and pad. Then tried a polish to remove the haze. Knocked down some of the haze, but still not clear. I used a prep wipe between steps.
Not exactly from a specific boat, but on boats, the console is not waterproof to play around with a pressure washer, or is it? Older boats probably don't...
Yes! Most everything on a boat’s dash is waterproof. Just don’t hold the tip of the pressure washer to a Garmin GPS for 5 minutes straight, and all will be good 😎
Not much, you don’t need a whole lot of PSI around boat, nor do you want to just for the sole purpose of potentially scaring the gelcoat, poking a hole in a seat cushion, etc. my pressure is around 1500. Nothing too crazy.
