    As a professional pressure washer, who deals with algae and mold everyday, if you spray the boat with a 50/50 mix of bleach(chlorine) and water, wait 15 minutes for it to kill the organics, it will rinse clean easier without have to use the high pressure turbo tip.

    • @RedAndYellacuddlyFella
      @RedAndYellacuddlyFella 8 месяцев назад +1

      ☝️ what he said. Bleach (or hypo which is more concentrated) is amazing at killing organic matter so every pressure wash should start with treatment and then the job is a piece of p!ss. Work smarter not harder

    • @preston0877
      @preston0877 8 месяцев назад

      Serious question though. I have my boat parked in my yard. So would using bleach also kill grass and plants where in runs off? Or would the water from the pressure washer be enough to dilute it?

    • @davidmelinsky841
      @davidmelinsky841 8 месяцев назад

      Immediately rinse any vegetation with water. Bleach is around 4% chlorine before you dilute it so it doesn't take a lot of water to neutralize it. Never let the bleach or chlorine dry on anything you want to keep alive.

      We always pretreat with sodium hypocholrite. Best to get it from pool stores since its fresh as it does have a short self life depending on sun light and heat. @@RedAndYellacuddlyFella

      Before using bleach or more toxic or corrosive chemicals try treating it with white vinegar first.. its surprisingly effective safe and commercial preparations may also contain an anti surfactant which will help with the wetting out of any mold or algae.
      Breathing aerosols of chlorate bleach are not recommended for the lungs, eyes or skin. Ditto for mould spores..🧙‍♂️

    • @opticmanz
      @opticmanz 8 месяцев назад +2

      99% of what was removed in this video was mold/mildew. Simply having a boat cover won't prevent this, no matter how good it is. Even with a proper boat winterizing wrap like you see in the northern states, moisture always finds a way in. Mold soon follows.

      These boats normally come from the factory with gelcoat. Not clear coat. Its thicker and has more surface to recondition. But you have to be careful with the pressure you can go right through the fiberglass.

    Just some unsolicited advice from a guy who has detailed quite a few cars and boats in his day. On surfaces that are seriously moldy or otherwise covered with caked on dirt, if you soak it with a degreaser mixed 5:1 with water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes, the grime comes off much easier and the end result is an even cleaner surface.
