I have a Toyota Corolla Cross LE and I love it! Full of safety features, love the lighting, space, display, blind spot alerts, it so many wonderful things about this vehicle. Get a Corolla Cross, the best
I appreciate you sharing your ownership input!
Fun fact for anyone buying this car or the corolla. Hidden in the settings there’s a display mode to go from that blue digital analog speedometer to an actual digital speedometer that will show your speed in exact numbers.
I was able to test drive a new 23 HRV this summer and was hoping to love it, but walked away very underwhelmed by it. So many things lacking in the back seats and it just felt cheap! After watching countless reviews, I decided to order a Corolla cross without having been able to track one down to test drive 😬 it is definitely nerve wracking but I’m hopeful that I will love it since my last 2 cars have been corollas. I should have it in the next month or so and can’t wait! Thanks for posting great content to show what’s out there!
Have you gotten it yet?
Did you end up getting it?
Well,…
My wife and I both work for Mazda Toyota where both the Corolla Cross and CX 50 are made, both are amazing vehicles!!! Nice video
I'm going to the dealer to check this car out. Yes, it checks off a lot of boxes for me - great gas mileage, low roof for carrying kayaks, cargo space, AWD, good looking, driver seat lumbar adjustment. Now I have to see if I can get it with a tow package for holding a bike rack, and occasional utility trailer towing.
Toyota all day! I think Toyota makes the best vehicles not knocking on Honda but I'd go with Toyota I owned several back in the day mainly corolla very fine vehicles they are!
My daughter helps assemble these engines into the Corolla Cross. This was a good video to see the work paying off. Not my kind of car
because i love speed. But a great car for someone new to driving or long commutes.
Oh wow that is fantastic!
Where is the assembly plant?
I’m hoping the hybrid has better acceleration
@@XDMIIIIIIIII They're built near Huntsville Alabama at the new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing Plant.
Bought a 2022 HRV a few months ago. One thing I hate is the older software for the infotainment and the poor reverse cameras. Think they could have easily invested more $$ into that.
That is a very good point!
Is the 2022 HRV an older generation HRV?
@@joecommenter1332 The 2023 had a total redesign and the 2022 still used the older base designs.
I have Toyota Corolla Cross for three months and I’m very happy with vehicle easy for drive and Toyota quality that you can beet. Thank you for nice review like always. 👍
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one from your ownership.
Great Corolla Cross I think Toyota did a dandy of a job and although it doesn't have a lot of luxury on the interior I think it's a nice nice SUV.
I am so glad that you like this one Luis!
I had one of these as a rental for a long road trip and averaged 35mpg even with some city and lots of mountain passes. Comfortable seats and just the right amount of tech and space for me. I only disliked how buzzy the engine got sometimes. Otherwise i really liked it and may buy one in the future.
I was dying to buy the Corolla Cross . I Went to several local dealers here in LA . MRSP was $28k - $30k PLUS “ dealer mark up” , the LE was selling out for $34k - $37k . Totally gave up, that’s too pricey for me. I ended up getting a used Nissan Rogue 2020 for $25k . I just need a car to drive local. Home to work to be exact. Toyota not playing with the prices rn .
Hopefully they crack down on that crap the dealers up charging.
@@JoeCnNd indeed , but not just dealers . Car insurance company as well , they’re over charging right now . 😩
How many miles is your 2020 Nissan Rogue?
I recently bought a 2023 Crosstrek Limited & markup was $1000 over MSRP.
@@jayvee9629 I got it with 20 miles .
Wow , $1k over MRSP it’s better than $5k - $10k .
What was your out of door price If you don’t mind me asking ?
@@beckygomez-beaster2828 I got it out the door for roughly $33,000.
I had originally wanted the Sport trim($1000 less than the Limited at my dealership) but would've had to wait a month for delivery.
I always watch your vids thats a must but i also get hungry at the same time👍😁
Thanks Jake! I know how you feel!
Now that you say it. I'm always eating something when I watch Raiti.
I have been eagerly awaiting for your review of this vehicle, Joe. As a shorter guy (5’3”) it’s difficult for me to climb into an SUV like a RAV4, and if the Cross is the same ground clearance I’m going to have to pass on it, which makes me sad.
I really enjoy your perspectives.
Thanks David! I appreciate you say that!
Get a pair of high heels....bingo !.
That’s the point of these crossovers to ride higher than a normal car. Maybe the Kia Niro is lower
Come on dude I think you are exaggerating it. There are plenty of 5'3" women driving average SUVs like a Rav4. It's not a real problem.
@Jamison Z. You know nothing about me or my situation, so before you start telling people what they can do, maybe trust them to know what they need. *Dude* 🙄
just bought one and its perfect for a city dweller like me ...its got all i need ..
Great stuff Joe! 0-60 in over 9 seconds!! Wow!! I could have Afternoon Tea with scones covered in clotted cream and strawberry jam before it gets to 60 mph! 😂😂 Great video! Thanks for bringing it to us.
You are so very right Michael!
“He was signing his balls” I’m dying 😂
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the SUVs with you!
I don't understand why they give you AWD and a CVT. If you want to be fuel efficient and use a CVT just go FWD. If you want to go AWD give me a real transmission.
I rather go to the hybrid model but I love the car itself. It looks nice. Love the videos keep it up. 👍
You got it!
I agree 👍 but you won't know either a yes 👍 or a no 👎
Yeah these cars are already slow might as well just get high gas mileage
I do AGREE with you @asitisinheaven21
@@RaitisRides next time you do a Toyota Corolla Cross could you do it as a Hybrid setup?
I could’ve sworn you had already reviewed this car when it first came out. I’ve seen a few of these and they’re kind of nice. I might buy a hybrid one as a daily commuter.
Nice to go a little more in depth with it.
At least Toyota was smart enough to add rear cupholders in their Corolla Cross..Honda HR-V have zip, not even on the highest trim. The interior and exterior is what Honda HR-V have the leg up against the Corolla Cross. But falls flat on some features for the price they're offering.
Brooooooiioooo 6:50 got me dead 💀
Hooray for the LED lighting all around, including (and especially) the turn signals!
I agree with you Eric!
Really? The "rear turn signals" are a joke!
I’m really liking what I see with the Corolla cross. It seems like a vehicle you can buy, pay it off rather quickly because it isn’t overly expensive then drive it for years and years and years.
The plastic cladding is to protect the paint if you need to go off the road. I for one live on a bad dirt road. So I wouldn't mind the plastic cladding so I don't get rock chips ❤
this is the fifth car i see reviews on. I am honestly now contemplating between the Hyundai Kona and the Kia Seltos.
Did he say "I know some of you guys are use to little things dangling there?".......
You heard correctly! Thanks for letting me share some laughs and cars with you!
Do you have any idea when you're gonna drive the hybrid version?
Within in the next month.
Battle of the torque less wonders with cvt's. Both need a better power train.
Thanks for those thoughts!
"little things just dangling there"...I should know better than to eat while watching one of your reviews. I nearly choked on my food when you said that.
You are freaking hilarious!
This car is too small for me. I am saving for the RAV4 Hybrid XSE. Thanks Joe for another great review.
You are so very welcome Dan!
Rav4 platinum is beautiful in black. Got a picture of it at dealership but was in display. Back in 2010 I test the Rav4 with 3rd row seat. It is only for a 2 yo. No leg room. I settled for a Highlander that was optional but 3rd row seat is okay but my kids grew out of it. Should have got a Sienna.
As much as I like the Corolla Cross. I already have a Corolla S with almost 300k. In 2021 got the new Corolla for my daughter. Once my Corolla S bye bye then I hope to get the Cross. My sister has a 07/08 Rav4 so I don’t like it but the 2021/22 Rav4 I recently saw is beautiful. I take care of my cars so they last long and no repairs.
I like the Corolla cross especially with the extra power standard. Not a fan of Corollas but this one is nice
That is so awesome.
Its kind of sad about the HR-V. HR-V (AKA ZR-V) in other countries has the rear vent with usb ports and the back seat arm rest. We essentially got screwed to cut costs here in the states. I hope they'll have a kit that'll allow you have rear vents later down the road, or have a 3rd party company like Mikstore create a kit. Really the biggest differences between Cross and HR-V is the features in the back seat. Corolla Cross has the rear vent, usb ports, middle arm rest, and more convinient spot for the cup holders in the door. HR-V doesn't have any of those and the cup holders are closer to your calf which is lower than I'd like.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
I’m waiting for the regular Corolla Hatchback review compared to the GR
“I know some of u guys are used to little things just dangling there.”
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you!
The highlight of your review "signing his balls" OMG I was LMAO 🤣
Tiger Woods signing his own balls?
I bought the XLE in Cypress with the Mocha interior and love it for my daily 50 mile commute.
That is wonderful Brad! Thanks for sharing your ownership input.
Excellent review Ratti! To be perfect the Toyota Corolla Cross is only missing one or two chrome exhaust pipes in the back! Take note Toyota, make this small change possible and you will win the design competition! Thank you
I am so glad that you like this one.
Been debating whether to get 2023 hrv or corolla cross for 2 years. But going back & forth from honda dealerships and such love the sexy lookin hrv sport, ive decided to get stay with toyota and get cc aka baby rav4. Its the LE wind chill pearl awd for pnw weather.
My mom drove a Rav4 and she liked it she's an older woman so I have suggested the Toyota Corolla Cross so I am going to show her this video 😊
That is wonderful of you.
This toyota Corolla cross ain't bad Joe. Ain't for me but it does serve its purpose pretty well.
When are you getting the '23 Corolla Cross hybrid for review? Looking forward to it.
Should be soon!
Yes! Looking forward to it too!
You just sold me in this Corolla Cross - color and all. Thanks for the test drive - plenty of zip in that 4 cyl!!
The first one you said was llx and XLE
I enjoy your videos a lot and I'm glad you started showing us the turn signals. As for the answer to your question, taillight wise bsolutely not. Honda HR-V, besides the new all LED lights, actually has amber rear turn signals. Sure, this one does have LEDs, but it's beyond just a zonk to not have the decency to include amber rear turn signals. Red turn signals are a proven safety compromise yet companies STILL use them simply because they can and sadly the North American governments haven't banned them like the rest of the world has. And it's even worse where the same light switches between functioning as a brake light and a turn signal like here yet it's so disturbingly common. And Toyota used to never do this until recently when for whatever reason they decided amber wasn't important. All the other Corollas have the decency to have amber rear turn signals, this one sadly does not
Thanks for sharing your perspective on this one.
@@RaitisRides I know I sound bitter but don't take it personally. It's not towards your channel. It's towards the manufacturers US decisions
I completely agree that red rear turn signals are a safety hazard. But I don’t think the Toyota across is one of the offenders. Look starting at 6:00. To me, the turn signal looks very clearly amber.
Now, one potential zonk is that it almost shares space with the red rear brake lights, which might confuse people behind you. But the color of the turn signal looks amber to me.
@@adamesd3699 Actually that's just the camera making the red LEDs look more orange than they are in person. And yes, combined function indicator lights that switch between braking and signaling are the worst offenders. And it's not just due to the color. It's the fact that in this functionality a turn signal being on means you lose a brake light for however long it's on
Joe Ratti…the greatest storyteller in Automobile Journalism of all times!
Thank you Tony for being so supportive!
Could these engines be more reliable than many of the newer cars with turbos pushing HP with 1.6 engines I wonder.
Love the way you present cars as always. TOYOTA now has exterior and interior design from the past. All of their vehicles.
I think is time for them to hire some NEW Designers.
They don't care about interiors, mechanical is all they care about and they know their customers lol
I just try both, but HRV looks better for me, and more Space, either way is good..
That is definitely a really pretty Corolla cross I cannot believe it but that is really pretty great job with the video joe
If you get it in front wheel drive and put an exhaust on it that will definitely help pick up the 0 to 60 time
This is true bit not by much.
Also it's not just 0 to 60 time if you're doing 30 miles an hour and you need to hit 50 to pass somebody that's when you would notice it also plus you lose about 2 miles per gallon with all-wheel drive
Love this dudes car reviews. He just randomly says the funkiest things 😂😂 Tiger woods’ balls?? Your “friend” from Toyota calling 😂 You need to post small clips of these on TikTok.
Can’t wait til you review the Hybrid version.
Stay tuned because it is coming!
Awesome review Joe send great camera work Steven!
That is really wonderful of you to say.
@@RaitisRides No problem. I think this sub is perfect for those who don’t want a ginormous vehicle and plus you get that remarkable Toyota reliability which is a nice touch.
Back in the day (1961) 9 seconds was a fast car. Now, most all electric cars can do around 4 seconds. It's all relative.
Corolla Cross. I would like it more if I could get an L with a manual transmission. The Subaru Crosstrek offers a manual.
No manual
Impeccable timing Raiti! Looking at either this or the HRV for my sister. The dealer shortages are definitely a thing and it’s hard to find either models
You hit the nail on the head.
Could u start laying in the back of SUV's so we could see the length? Thx
Thanks Joe for reviewing my favorite SUV.
Thanks Jeremiah!
It looks a little cheap which is surprising for toyota. You should call your friend from toyota, and convince him to do a slight redesign 😆. How about getting rid of the black cladding, a few sharper edges for a sportier look, different tail lights, and slightly faster engine, then just make it a new Toyota Matrix?! I had two of those long ago and each had close to 200,000 miles when I got rid of them.😁 Few zonks on the car but no zonks on your reviews Joe! Keep up the great work!
This absolutely kills the HRV lol
Stop the cap 🧢🧢🧢
Factsss
@Matthew Molt how is it dated when the car just came out 💀
I am glad that you think so.
@Matthew Molt But Honda can't afford to put a damn rear cupholders in their HR-V though.🙄
These are really popular out here in the Chicago area, I’ve seen maybe 1 or 2 XLEs, 3 or 4 Ls, and far and away the most popular trim is the LE, I’ve seen a ton of those
In the suburbs I don't see as much. I see a bunch of Rav4s and CRVs here lol

Toyota makes excellent cvt. Them and Honda do the best ones. It’s not an transmission people like but still gets the job done

I have seen a few.
Just about six inches shorter than a RAV4 from just a few years ago. But this is deemed “subcompact”. 🤷🏼♂️
I don't like flat black on any car. Hope there is another option.

You should compare the not released yet 2023 Cross with the hybrid system instead of the previous gen against a new car. Not really fair.
HUH?
@@RaitisRides
In your title and what you talk about in the video. You’re comparing the new 2023 Honda HR-V. To a previous gen 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross. The 2023 Cross was updated with more tech, power train and cosmetics.
I’m just saying. It’s a bit unfair to compare new to old.
Edit: for reference. The new Cross for 23 is getting (mentioning some): A hybrid, more trims including sporty looking, more power with a 0-60 of 8 seconds, more tech, new looks inside and out.
I know some of you guys are used to things dangling down there 😂😂😂😂😂

I question the long durability of CVT transmissions. They seem to be time bombs in other cars. But i realize nobody wants manual transmission any more except in sports cars.
It will be interesting to see how it pans out!
Allegedly Toyota’s are better but still I agree they’re crap
The transmission is made by Aisin, it should be reliable if properly maintained.
@@matthewalexis Is there any CVT that can deliver 200k miles? I know manual transmission cars that replace clutches, but keep going forever. It seems the transmission in many cars is the weak spot.
