Hi Jeff, I’m buying a new car soon. Trying to decide between this and the Subaru Crosstrek. I’m leaving toward the crosstrek because of the AWD system. Is the Corolla cross AWD system full-time or something like the Camry AWD? Thanks much! Love the videos!
I just got my Cross XLE a few days ago and absolutely love it. My biggest immediate takeaway thus far is how ridiculous most reviewers have been about the car’s acceleration, which is perfectly fine. I live in Greater-Washington, DC, with some of the worst traffic anywhere and have had no issue merging into aggressive traffic barely tapping the gas petal. It’s also incredibly spacious and comfortable from a driver’s perspective if you’re tall, which needs to be put out there. Thank you for the great thorough reviews, Jeff.
Same. I think it feels a lot faster to me than it actually is because all these reviews conditioned me to expect the slowest car I’d ever driven in my life. It basically feels like a normal car for the price point!
It’s because these car reviews are from salespeople not the general public. They compare it to premium sports vehicles subconsciously. They review vehicles with 300 HP so then when they feel a “normal” car it is slow. I drove just the normal corolla 22 and it felt normal to me too and it wasn’t “noisy” and sluggish. I think they don’t realize 95% of car buyers dgaf about 0 to 60 in 5 seconds. Also MOST do not go off roading, most do not quickly accelerate in sharp turns, most don’t drag a trailer or boat. Also, most people don’t “punch” the accelerator from stop light. We just normally press the gas pedal gradually.
@@jaydel3 Those reviewers are idiots and stuck up trying to upsize you to a Lexus or BMW . Why don't I buy the hybrid model then upgrade to nice seats found on luxury vehicles at a custom shop.
Keep up the great work Jeff. May I ask for a side by side comparison of the Corolla Cross vs the RAV4? I think a lot of us would like to see that if you could make it happen. Thanks 🙏.
@@kaleimaile They didnt even ask about looks. They asked for side by side comparison, what you said is 100% irrelevant. Also not everyone can afford a 32k Rav4 Compared to a 21k Cross. Why be so divergent?

Thanks for the review, Jeff. I like how Toyota added Safety Sense 2.0 to all trim levels. I'm disappointed that the rear turn signals are not amber, like RAV4 (safer, IMHO). I'd be interested in your take on DRIVING the Corolla Cross: acceleration with the CVT; quietness at speed; seat comfort; handling on rough roads; independent suspension (AWD) versus torsion bar (FWD). Keep up the good work...
Reminds me of a larger Toyota Matrix. Those things were also built off of the Corolla sedan and had a lot of cargo room (way more than the Corolla hatchback).

Love it I'm a proud owner of the Corolla Cross LE for 2 weeks now..I only wish there was a arm rest/ cup holder in the back seat. I do miss having that feature!!!
@@newamsterdanm that's why you should not buy..... Salesman and Toyota waiting for people like you who don't think.... only purchase right away because of new nice car. CVT only 100.000 miles means not reliable at all.... You only got first gear than cvt apply think why if cvt fail you can still use your first gear to drive to your local mechanic to spend thousands for your cvt
@@yournightmare9999 lol Toyota cvts can go more than 100k miles ive seen with my own eyes. Past 167k miles. Every other car brand cvt definitely will fail at 100k.
I like these but the MSRP gets pumped way up by Toyota forcing things on the consumer, such as Toyoguard wax job for $699, and hood film for over $419, and mats for another $399, and even patchcords for phones. That's $1600 of stuff you really do not need. And then the dealers add their own add-ons. So look at the MSRP, then add around $4000 for stuff you really don't need. Hate that about Toyota.
Bought a Jet Black LE Saturday with moon roof and cross members for kayak. So far I have not been disappointed. I thought I was not gonna like the CVT, however no issues as of yet
I tell you what I DON'T like about it. We've had ours for just a bit less than a month. Toyota skimped out on the paint job inside the doors & the rear hatch. No clear coat! Just flat paint. That's bullshit! I wish I would have noticed it earlier. Was too excited about having gotten rid of our old Chevy Traverse. I plan on complaining about it later. It's not what i would expect from Toyota. Other than this, it runs good for a 4 banger engine, a helluva lot better quality than our old Chevy Traverse.
Ugh. No clear coat? I need more advice here! I am honestly not surprised, yet stunned at the same time. Thank you again! I asked you a question of about the mpg in a different post. = )
Jeff - love the music references and energy!. I don't really dig SUVs but this is more of a Wagon like Toyota did with the Tercel 4wd and Corolla Alltrac of the 80's. Those were great 4wd wagons which used the proven parts of Toyotas mainstream cars and packaged them in a wagon body with car handling and enough AWD to get you out of trouble. I'm looking forward to the Hybrid AWD version here in Australia being released later in the year.
Thanks Jeff! I've been waiting for this one. It's better looking than I thought it would be, and is attractively priced. Makes me think that maybe I should've waited but then again I've only got another 33 months to go on my 3-year Venza lease. Great job as always---Holla! LOL
I like this car and am considering it as my first car but the gas tank is kinda small for it’s size. Even the c-hr which is smaller has a bigger gas tank

Jeff, I thought Barcelona Red was gone but it is already back by popular demand! What happens in a year's time when the Corolla is the top selling car in the nation. Will there be a feud fueled by anger over the question of whether the Corolla Cross is a real Corolla or an impostor masquerading as a Corolla just to increase sales totals. Are you steeling yourself for the inevitable turmoil as Camry loyalists cry foul?
Rav4 used to be this size until 2013/14 when they blew it up. The thing is Rav4 should have never grew to the size it is now because in Japanese market there were Hilux Surf and Prado that were bigger than Rav4 and smaller than Land Cruiser. Those two are not represented in North America's marker where vehicles grew as the size of population grows. I wish they would just introduce Surf or Prado, or Land Cruiser and Raf4 would be same sleek, compact SUV as it once was.

Your review is by far the most informative and fun one I have watched. Thank you so much for taking your time on this video. Loved it! Enjoy your holidays!
Nice video. I really appreciate the detail you went into for the interior and cargo area. I just wish this vehicle had more HP. 169HP for a 3125lbs (or 3325 with AWD) crossover is not so great. Also, lol that you totally avoided mentioning the transmission is a CVT. It's ok. Toyota knows what they're doing. The launch gear makes it a lot better than other CVTs since most of the torque is handled by a real gear before switching over to the CVT for 20+ MPH.
So did they fixed the water leaks on the roof rail yet? Toyota drilled holes through the frame to mounts the rail but only plugged them up with simple plastic gasket, some has reported leaking after a while due to heavy rain or car wash... which is the same design as RAV4 and that car was also reported leakage. Wish you can do a view about this more in detail
