I'd wager the previous owner yanked the original motor with accessories, bought a blown used one, stripped it for extras and then put it in the engine bay so the insurance company saw "an engine." You uncovered evidence of this with the VIN# on the block. If the car was being financed at the time, the bank owned it, and the owner basically committed fraud. I'm sure the insurance company who paid for it and the bank who financed it won't like being told they've been had. It's in their interest to know.

Since it's literally a Shit box on wheels pull the motor, brakes, seats, dash, DME, shifter, headlights, and wheels and trash the shell

Yah thats doable, but I simply don’t have that kind of time for parts to lay around and space before they sell. I’m just going to part out the motor and trans to recoup some money and put in a complete trans and motor. Yah I’ll lose a bit of money but not as much time. The rear end is a very easy fix. So theoretically the car will cost me 25% less then if you were to get one from the dealer. Still a loss but I’ll live with it 😂
