13:52 Bird was *too far behind the backboard~!* So what does he do? He snags the front of the rim with "english" & *BANKS IT IN* SLOWMO IT~! Yep, "banked it in" from behind the backboard. There was no slop in that impossible shot. It's perfection at it's finest~~! Larry is GOAT The end.🍀🗑🏀🍀👍
Nique is the epitome of class, and a freakazoid of the highest caliper. Larry had surgery on both achilles at the beginning of the next season. He was out after six games for the rest of the '89 season. The only year he wasn't on the All Star team. His pain threshold was ridiculous.
Dominique deserves so much respect. Not is he one of the all-time greats as a player, but the generosity with which he is willing to praise his competitors is just wonderful. He could be more bitter having never won a ring but he displays none of that. Just a legend in every respect. It's too bad he was injured during the Dream Team run because he deserved to be on it 100%.
Agreed! I had wondered why he wasn't on the dream team and I found out he was injured. It's too bad too ..cause I know he would have loved to have been on that team and he would have been phenomenal!
Birds will was his heart and love for the game. He would have played for free I am sure of it. The ability to play with his feet and back problems is just amazing. Today’s players wouldn’t even think of playing today if they had Birds health issues. Still the greatest player in my mind when you take into account how he played with his health issues and was still able to carry his team the way he did night in and night out.
I saw an interview somewhere where, later in his career or after he retired, Bird was saying that truthfully he probably wouldn't have played for nothing because, of course, he had financial responsibilities. I thought, then, when I heard it, that it seems like he's thought about that remark he made when he first signed with the Celtics since he first said it. Like he's weighed the Truth of it but also recognizes that the reality of being paid is what gave him the freedom to go all in to achieve what he did on the court. At least that's what I took from it.
Maybe my fave story of Bird.....and WIlkins because Dom in my top faves ever. Both those men were beasts that night, and Willis was a dummy for waking up Big Bird. Dominique is terrifying when he got on that net, just poetry in motion watching him slam one down....like violent ballet.
I recently found out that Bird had bronchial pneumonia in this game. I mean - we know about the back. And Ainge mentioned that both his heels were suffering from the bone spurs / achilles tendons. 🤯. He earned every penny they paid him. Dominique was such a worthy opponent. I like that Bird gave him that recognition there too. A quiet bit of "un" trash talk. 🙂
Yes , Dominique was a class act and the ultimate high flyer ! Unfortunately , he never grabbed a title , couldn’t get past Bird in the Eastern conference ! HEY BU , AFTER ALL THE RESEARCH AND VIDEOS , YOU STILL HAVE BIRD 3RD ALL TIME ? 🤔
When I watched this game I thought I was watching one on five full court basketball with all the other players on the court as mere spectators. Two guys in the zone at the same time. That doesn't happen too often. Great vid bro.
I've said alot about bird 🐦 but I wanna say Ty for all your videos, and respect to larry jo bird 🐦 ❤ so hope you hit your goal on your channel, your goal should be no less then the moon ☝👌🏀
Great one .. I remember this game very well and i concur .. This was a banger and one of the best of all time in my humble opinion .. I honestly thought the Hawks were going to win this series .. The Celtics were starting to get a lil older with up coming Hawks .. This was 2 years after tge Celtics lost their number one draft pick ... They drafted a kid out of the University of Maryland by the name of Lenny Bias .... Young man you should research this freak athlete... Growing in the Tobacco road area i got to witness this great player playing in the ACC .. Mr Bias was 6ft9 could jump out of the gym , play with his back to the basket , rebound , block shots .. I mean he could do it all .. Unfortunately he overdosed the night he was drafted and never played for the Celtics .. A very unfortunate tragedy .. RIP Mr Bias ...
You Did It, You Did It Thank You. Yes this was a well put together Video. You could tell Larry was hurting in this one too. I wonder if this Whole Game is out here somewhere on Video???Hint Hint ... ha ha ha ... Thank You Again
I liked what you had to say about Larry. I can't understand why anybody would want to say that they're player is better than Larry Bird. LeBron Kobe anybody could think of. Nobody has played this game as he did. He could be biased about your players but no one ever played this game like he did. Not one.
I know Jordan is always put at the top of the list for best players but what do you think his chances would be against Dom? None in my opinion. I saw both play in Boston Garden many times, Dom would have ate his lunch. Jordan is the most over rated player ever. He was a great player, yes, but surely not the greatest player of all time. Not even the best guard of all time, that goes to Magic.
Btw, I love Dominique, he’s a class act ❤
I like that Nick up front lists his sources etc.

The more I see Larry videos the more apparent it becomes just how respected Larry Bird is among his peers. And I’m here for it 🥰
Like someone said, Larry is your favorite player's favorite player!

Exactly! (Even the ones that won’t admit it 😂)
Ditto! 😁

Freakazoidal Maniac was a popular 80's term. A great term that needs to come back.
I agree lol!
This game was iconic bcuz Larry & ‘Nique went at it in the 4th quarter & Larry carried the whole team on his back.
Larry always carried the team.
I reckon thats where his heel spurs come from
😅
Have a great day Irish ❤

I always took that as ....he wouldn't have put his body through what he did.... if he wasn't getting paid to do it.

‘Nique was ROBBED in that one dunk contest!
@@irishgrl Yes ma'am he was......even Jordan if I remember correctly told Dom he won. That was epic.
take a long look at birds shooting hand index finger. he said he never had the same touch after destroying it.

No it doesn’t you right! Love to see it too
Instead of the Bird gang maybe you should start calling us the Bird Flock. Lol.
😂😂😂😂
My starting 5- MJ, BIrd, Magic, Kobe, Robinson. That is the dream team starting 5. I'll put them up against any starting 5.
Thanks for showing love to The Admiral himself
We were calling ppl freakazoids back in the 80s. And Australia is the butt end of the universe with that stuff lol
