When someone tells me GoPro’s are horrible in low light, I’m gonna show them this video. Like, my dude, it’s so crisp. I hate when people say you can’t get good footage in the dark with these. You absolutely can, and your video is evidence of that.
I wont be that sure. I dont know what everyone is like, "oh this worked" without providing their own videos but using the same settings in my Go Pro 10 and still getting a lot of grain in the black areas. Post edition I guess.
The Gimbal looks interresting. Where do i get it, its flat like the Zhiyun Rider M, which unfortunatelly is not compatible with rider m. The company is called "home"?
gopro 11 Anti-flickering 60Hz -> 50Hz in camera preferences hypersmooth off 4k 25fps Shutter 1/100 ISO minimum 800 maximum 1600 10bit on High clarity If you set it up, Wouldn't that be the best low light condition ?
Hey Danny . This is a link to Moon Lantern Trail video I filmed last weekend . I don't have a light on my gopro so I played with the settings a little in post for the on camera pieces but everything else was filmed with yoir settings. I think it came out alright . Hope u enjoy it . Cheers . Btw I really enjoyed your videos and your vibe. All the best . ruclips.net/video/n1WyOCRRKxs/видео.html
Why am I not seeing some of these menu options, I set updated my GP10 straight out of the box? For instance “custom settings” or the “+” at the bottom of these settings. Is there someth8ng else I need to do to open these options?
What would you recommend for live drumming on stage? I think the low light settings will do the job but I'm scared about turning off hypersmooth because I wear a chest mount.
why does it matter what region you are in? if it's RUclips or social media, phone, PC/Mac... it's not a TV broadcast. please explain this. still learning about my GP10. thanks.
Thanks for this video... I will be headed to Disneyland and universal studios this October. I will be taking my hero 9 and 10 along and can't wait to put these settings to use in the evening. Once again thanks! 👍🏽👍🏽
I will be at Disneyland Oct 4th 5th and 6th, and Universal Hollywood Oct 9th. I just got the Hero 10 and all I want to do is avoid any noise in the dark/black areas. I'm guessing his settings with 400 ISO where there is no light (like in this video) and 800 ISO at places like Venice boardwalk and Disney at night, places where there is some light, and I should be ok. Im really looking forward to using timewarp during the day at Disney, then I can use the "normal speed" button when I want to focus on something. Anyway🍻 have fun!
Hey Danny!! Fellow Aussie here mate. I'm new to GoPro and thank you for the low light settings! Just saved it (and found the plus sign on 10 without the link 🙂) Just subscribed and thanks again
Aloha~ i am still trying to figure out what would be best setting for my gp9 and gp10 low light night shootings like night time parades or night/early morning drive video scenes ...so far i have tested/ tried many different settings but i guess low light/night scenes are not for gopros.the outcome is alwsy Too Dark or Too Noisy if its bright...i still do not know what is best setting yet?... i have decided not to spend anymore money with gopros i am searching other device to replace my GPS 9 and 10. sad
Merci
Hello I have problem with gopro hero9 when I record during the day shadowy places gets very noise and grainy pixelated. I'm shooting with 4k 60 fps, color flat white balance auto. Any tips?
Hi. I tried those settings for my gp10, but still It has poor quality at night. I would say my phone do it better... Would you recommend some settings for deep night car driving in absolute darkness or it's just a go pro and it's impossible to improve?
Danny Black, I tried your settings and I'm thinking the settings might be ok if I was shooting from a fixed position. Reason being I changed my setting to yours and went on a 19 mile bike ride at midnight. The video was ok until I rode through a downtown section. By not using HyperSmooth the video was blurred. I'm going to try 4K 30fps using HyperSmooth.
How did it go switching to 4k with hypersmooth on? I am looking at using my GoPro for low light setting and don't want to fork out £100 for a gimbal for one weekend
Dan would you recommend a go pro hero 9 for a video from a passenger jet plane when flying over a big city? if so would you use the setting you showed in this video?
Honestly the go pro 11 need to focus on only 2 things. Make it a little bit bigger just a little. To add some kind of heat sink. Battery size everything else can pretty much stay the same. And finally add a larger sensor and lense for low light. That's all that's needed for the 11.
You, are a God send. I've only seen one of your videos (obviously, this one) but I'm liking you already and subbed immediately. I look forward to seeing much more of your content and learning as much from you as i can. Sooo... We have the Go Pros 7, 8, 9 and Max 360 and we ride motorcycles, but our videos never look as good as we've seen others be. We know they can look so much better, but don't know what settings are best for each camera or each riding situation, such as day or night rides, street, track or rough terrain. Can you help me or guide me to where I can learn this? 🙏 Thank you so much. I'll be watching for sure... 🤗
Has anyone tried recording at low light at 240fps 1/240 (for better stabilization), and then converting the video to 24fps 1/24 using frame blending (to reduce noise)?
It needs to have a very good night mode. Either perhaps night Vision or something. I can’t imagine no one has “adventures” at night as well? I guess it happens during the day only? I still have a go pro sessions. I like how small it is. And really is it necessary to have the touchscreen?? Lol. What a waste. Make it much smaller and skip the touch screen. We can do all the modifications on your phone like I do with the sessions. I use my sessions as a body camera at night when I walk my dog. I like how durable it is and small. I literally just carry it in my hand and point it forward. I don’t like any of the mounts they have for body worn or even the wrist mount. I need something more simple and quick to put on, but for now I carry it in my hand and my dog leash on the other hand at night. But the low light and night modes need to be more improved somehow. I was thinking of getting a new go pro but it’s not worth the $500 or whatever. I would rather just use my camera on my iPhone X which has a bit better low light mode but it is blurry unless you stand still. Luckily the go pro sessions keeps its focus very well. The creator of go pro needs to be aware some of us use these for protection. Believe me a lot of crap can happen and it’s best to get it on video. Just happen to me the other night. Unfortunately I didn’t have my go pro with me because of the problem I have mounting it etc. it became too much trouble. I just wanna go for a simple walk. But things have changed. I gotta carry it all the time now.
Hi Danny, My name is Conrad Holland, I live in Malanda in the Atherton Tablelands 100 Kilometers West of Cairns in far North Queensland, Australia. I’m about to commence my own Gold prospecting Blogg,
It’s because of your region. You have the “anti flicker” on in the settings. Because some places in the world have different power currents the lights might flicker at different frame rates (NTSC / PAL) when you turn off the anti flicker you will see 30/60/120
hey incase you are wondering where the PLUS SIGN went for custom presets... I FOUND IT! check this out ruclips.net/video/cI0QlPxihqs/видео.html

Thank you, as a service member I work night shifts as a plane captain and I always wanted to record my launches, now I can thanks to you
Great tips. Will try them soon. Got my like.
Nice , best tutorial for Night Settings.
Thank you for your wonderful comment I am glad you enjoyed my video.

If you set it up,
Wouldn't that be the best low light condition ?
Thank you for your comment that might be some settings I have to try
@@MrBlackReviews hey if I put to 60fps what would be the pros and cons?
thanks heaps for your content, mate. I am going to a Chinese Lantern Festival in Adelaide tonight and I am going to use your settings. cheers.
Oh that will be awesome!! Please send me a link to your footage

I think you are the best blogger on video ?, American in Australia
it works for me, i love you man
Thanks for the low light setting. I have applied them, now I just need to get out and test them. Great video Danny.
Useful tips, and love the Story Bridge at night.
Thanks! I will try these settings. Greetings from Mallorca Spain

Im having trouble on my night shot of my gonpro 10 specially when im walking is shakey even if i walk slowly
Danny thank you! I shoot with GoPros all the time and love the night lapse. I am excited to try this out tonight!
why does it matter what region you are in? if it's RUclips or social media, phone, PC/Mac... it's not a TV broadcast. please explain this. still learning about my GP10. thanks.
Super interesting. the difference between auto and your settings is night & day
ABSOLUTELY TRUE what this video explain!!! I set the same settings and worked like a charm. Thanks dude 4 discover this!!!
Are the settings the same beside the wide angle for the anamorphic lens in low light settings?
Would you consider creating the QR code for the settings so it can be added via the special Firmware? GoPro Labs..
Thanks for sprinkling in the low light 💡 tips and tricks! It’s good to know about turning off the hypersmooth!🤙🏽
Great work bro... Very informative thanks a lot bro
Why did you set the sharpness to Low? Will the gp2 processor make the footage worse in low light with that setting?
OMG! What a difference it makes! Thanks for the video.
Nice tips bro... Tq 👍👏

Thank you so much. I've been having trouble with this when I've been filming flashing lights. Fingers crossed it will be awesome now
Is it good?
Thank you Danny! Appreciate all your video's! 😊👍
What is the best low light setting for GoPro max 360
Hey your tiny url links aren't working atm, can you give me the link? I'd like to buy this light!
The best advice thanks 🙏
But if you turn off the hypersmoot the footage will become all shaky and unwatchable. Whats your solution to this?
Hey Danny!! Fellow Aussie here mate. I'm new to GoPro and thank you for the low light settings! Just saved it (and found the plus sign on 10 without the link 🙂) Just subscribed and thanks again
brill as always, will be off checking this out tonight
great video Danny. I've been crawing that anamorphic lens for a while now.... :P

Thanks Danny! I made it when I went along with the video. I wish GoPro would let people create a settingsname themselfs.
Bonjour,

Lol managed to watch it in Egypt hotel reception
Great info as usual Danny
thanks for the advices. I'll try these tips tonight on my GoPro :)
Can I ask why I want the sharpness on low? I’m using for motorcycle fpv
Hi. I tried those settings for my gp10, but still It has poor quality at night. I would say my phone do it better... Would you recommend some settings for deep night car driving in absolute darkness or it's just a go pro and it's impossible to improve?
Amazing low light!

How was it? I would like a camera for walking mainly on low light, so id really appreciate to know.
How did it go switching to 4k with hypersmooth on? I am looking at using my GoPro for low light setting and don't want to fork out £100 for a gimbal for one weekend
Great video 🔥🔥🔥
Should I use auto shutter to shoot musicians on stage at night or ???
Thank you for sharing Guy!
Are these settings also work on Hero 8?
Ohh that’s how you get low light turn off hyper smooth!! Smart
Dan would you recommend a go pro hero 9 for a video from a passenger jet plane when flying over a big city? if so would you use the setting you showed in this video?
It's July 2022 and in around two months, Go Pro 11 will be unveiled.
Do you think the Go Pro 11 will improve on night-time filming over the Go Pro 10?
how do you use the time warp and to be able to record the stars?
This is amazingly helpful. Thanks so much!
Would 24or 25fps be better than 30 in low light? Even slower shutter speed.
yep
Thank you!
Great information again from Danny Black.👍
do you have settings for go pro 11?
Hey Danny, I have been looking at buying a portable AC unit on Kogan. What AC do you have and would you recommend it?
hey walker sorry for the delay... I bought mine from Bunnings but I dont see that particular one on their site anymore... but it was around $400
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you for your my friend.,,I try to my hero 10
Tq man ❤️
Hyper smooth off??? Means no video stabilization
Very helpful tips
i want to see result moving gopro with night setting your version Bro...thanks

Wait how did you add a preset? I have the 10 and it doesn’t have that option
I don’t know why. But I just noticed. I think they took that plus sign away.. wtf ????
You have to click on the right corner and thema you can click the plus icon of you scrol down. I just did, mayby new update.
Been trying to get more low light and it’s hard but when it hits it hits!!
I do a lot of motovlogging and have not had the best night videos. Have you tried these settings during night action shots or high speeds?
Thank you! Didn’t even know about the custom settings, this was sooooo helpful. Compared to my previous night mode footage this looks WAY better

GoPro Hero 13. They have lost my business due this issue. Going with the Insta Ace Pro 2. Much larger sensor.
Has anyone tried recording at low light at 240fps 1/240 (for better stabilization), and then converting the video to 24fps 1/24 using frame blending (to reduce noise)?
Great not wasting time 👍
thank you so much!
You left out a step. You should have also hit the ☑️ check in the upper right hand side to lock in the custom settings.
Shutter speed auto ?
Why keep the fps so low?
Because you want to capture as much light per frame as possible. Double the frame rate, and you capture half the light, which translate to more noise.
So just turn on a flashlight?
It needs to have a very good night mode. Either perhaps night Vision or something. I can’t imagine no one has “adventures” at night as well? I guess it happens during the day only? Nice video. I'd be curious to see how these settings stack up while cave diving. It's pretty damn dark in underwater caves, as you might imagine.
These settings make the night time worse than the regular settings on my GoPro....
I used go pro hero 9s in my last video “tesla vs infinity g37” and my videos came out 💩💩 I’m gonna check the settings and use yours for my next one
Gotta usa a guimbal ☹️
The only answer is for people to boycott companies for change & force them to release cameras with wider apertures. Like 1.7
Hi Danny,
My name is Conrad Holland, I live in Malanda in the Atherton Tablelands 100 Kilometers West of Cairns in far North Queensland, Australia.
I’m about to commence my own Gold prospecting Blogg,
Tried this without a gimbal. Unusable. So, gimbal
from now on for low light.
will this presets be good on motorcycle night ride?
Can I find a video in America, where they don't use stupid low frames per second
my dads from perth random ik but felt like i wanted to say this lol
I think my 10 is broken... Everyone on youtube has 4k 30 fps. And I only have 25 or 50 choices. wtf...
It’s because of your region. You have the “anti flicker” on in the settings. Because some places in the world have different power currents the lights might flicker at different frame rates (NTSC / PAL) when you turn off the anti flicker you will see 30/60/120
Я купил себе го про 12!
The black/purple blotches of darkness are much more noticeable with your custom settings.
Whenever someone mentions RGB light, I hear LGBT Light 🤣
If only I could mount a gimbal to a helmet
Still getting a lot of grain. I would prefer to get a pitch black than grain. Totally ruin the video.
