Can you believe the real plane's landing gear was brought up by the pilot hand cranking it? Polikarpov was the first plane with retractable landing gear.
Thank you for your kind comment which I really appreciate. Because the FW190 is 1/5 scale, there is no enough space to mount a 4 stroke radial. Maybe a little 3 cylinder radial from Saito would fit. Yes. It has been rebuilt and it flies again. 👍😎

The I-16 was a thing of beauty; loved the weathering and Cyrillic markings on it. It's really too bad about the FW 190; that also was a beautiful model. Unlike the poster below, I also quite like that "compromise swastika" - this being a German field, putting on an actual swastika would be quite offensive (and, IIRC, illegal by German law), but the "stylized" one lends historical accuracy without being offensive. Very good!
Damn that sucks balls!. was such a nice model!! That's why I always set up my larger scale models with dual independant elevator servos...a bit more time and cost but well worth it.

Oh shit man that would suck BIG TIME, the Polikapov looks absoultely mint what a fantastic model you can't get any more scale than that, and my deepest sympathy's to the Pilot of the FW190 also a very well presented model
Such gorgeous planes, love to watch these, but that must be super frustrating losing that bird, every time I crash I can barely contain my frustration. Love the sound of that engine, especially on takeoff, it's hard to believe that they're able to fit a 75cc in that thing! Anyways, gorgeous planes, love the increased frame rate. Cheers
fw-190 shot down from the rata fighter....lol, yeah right...!!! in this joint flight we can see how much faster airframe the fw-190 is, but the i-16 was a lot more agile and with very low stall speed limit...great video man, shame for the beautifull 190!!!
MANOS RC FW had a great energy retention unlike the ishak, which means the ishak could've only won if it turned and the FW overshot it, at the same speed the FW would've minced the ishak in seconds.
Die Rata kommt nahezu perfekt rüber. Der Klang kommt dem Original recht nahe. Hab mal eine auf der Hahnweide gesehen, auch das Flugbild ist super. Tolle Aufnahmen, wie immer! ;)

Amazing detailing on the Polikarpov! The landing gear, the instrument panel, all go far beyond typical R.C. models, and at that scale it really pays off! Two questions: What is the tapered, squared-off "cylinder" on top of the pilot's head-rest fairing? I haven't seen one (that I recall) in historical pictures of the I-16, my first thought was that it was a housing for a mini video camera- that would be some great P.OV. footage! But looking again, I don't think that's what it is... Some Soviet secret weapon? A thermos for vodka?? Secondly, I noticed that the "louvers", or radial slats on the front of the engine cowling were open at landing, and the scene before starting the motor, but closed during start-up. I know it's as per the original, but is it closed to let the motor warm up, and is it manually or remotely operated? Great work, great video, thanks!
In fact it is a camera-housing! But not for my pics. The full size aircraft operated by Boris Safonov (9141) had this cun-camara mounted for documentation of the dogfights and shot-downs. You may find pics in the web. The "Louvers" are remote controlled and observed by temp. sensor via Telemetrie.

Die 190, so ein Verlust schmerzt natürlich sehr, Der Sound und der Flugstil hat aber leider nicht zur Rata gepasst. I've got a great idea. Why not make one big enough to actually fit someone in the seat? With real controls. That way, you wouldn't need to fly it from the ground. How hard can that be? I think I'll give it a go. Don't anyone steal my idea or I'll sue.

And sad about the FW190 offcourse.. Part of the hobby I guess, but sad on a model with that much work in it..
Many thanks for your great comment. The horizontal slads on the landing gear are needed in order to cover the wheels when the gears are retracted. Have a look at the video of the maiden flight, where you can see how the landing gear operates.

I've got a great idea.
Why not make one big enough to actually fit someone in the seat? With real controls.
That way, you wouldn't need to fly it from the ground.
How hard can that be?
