James Ingram was one of the most underrated artist throughout the 1980’s. He is a natural singer and if you never heard him live then you have missed it. He passed away about 2 or three years ago. El Debarge is another talented singer from the 1980’s and still going strong today.

I haven't read the comments yet - I was so excited I went straight to typing so forgive me if someone has already mentioned but Michael Jackson was supposed to be the 2nd singer but had to drop out because his schedule didn't permit. Al B. Sure got his part. Knowing it was supposed to be Michael's part he purposely sang as close to what Michael might have sounded like. The result is this perfect snapshot of 90's R&B. His big hits were Just Once (from the movie Last American Virgin) ,100 Ways, Baby Come To Me (duet with Patti Austin and rose to #1 thanks to General Hospital) ,How Do You Keep The Music Playing (duet with Patti Austin ,also featured in the movie Best Friends with Goldie Hawn & Burt Reynolds). Listen to those songs ! He also has a duet with Anita Baker (When you love someone) from the movie Forget Paris with Billy Crystal and Debra Winger
