From GRRM's script for GOT S4E02: "Robb sits drenched in blood amidst the carnage of the Red Wedding, surrounded by the dead. His dead face slowly transforms into Grey Wind’s wolfish features."

About your idea that robb wargs into greywind and then wargs again into that westerling, I don't think so. Six skins said that he is pretty sure that once his main body dies and he wargs out, he'll lose his warging power.
Robb got spawn camped
Hey, do you have a video about the theory that Jaine Westerling is carrying Robb's baby?
It's specifically stated in the world of Ice and Fire that Warg specifically and only refers to a skin changer that has a relationship with a wolf and is not just another generic term for any skin changer
@@post-leftluddite no Warg is the general term for any skin walker. The Wildling with the Eagle was called a Warg repeatedly.
The idea of Rob looking at Arya through Grey Wind before he dies is fucking heart breaking, holy shit.
I didn't think of that...
They even put it in the show, the eye connection Arya has with Greywind. It stings a bit more with that shot.
Although in the show Grey Wind dies before Robb so it seems unlikely. But in the books it could well be the case.

If I knew my last words were going to be “Shaggy Dog” I’d put a gun in my own mouth due to shame.
The jokes about Shaggydog and the genuine comedic disgust people have for Rickon naming his wolf that makes me laugh every time.
Sansa: names wolf Lady because she wants her wolf to be gentle and graceful like a lady
Arya: names her wolf Nymeria after the great warrior princess.
Rob: calls Wolf Grey wind because he's fast and he's gray (I think)
Jon: Ghost because he has a white wolf, who is very quiet and kind of mysterious
Bran: calls Wolf Summer, because of the hope for summer after the long night? Or something

I just love the fact that this Stark supporter, in his last moments in the middle of a battle for the life of him and his friends, decides to free the direwolf and let him get into the fight. It just shows the level of respect that the soldiers had for this mystical creature.
If they covered it head to toe in heavy boiled leather or some half plate armor and gave it dragon glass claws and fang attachments it could kill more white walkers than any soldier

My takeaway from the books is that Rickon and Shaddydog probably bonded the quickest, and Rickon started warging Shaggy immediately, though not consciously. Which is why Shaggy is so possessive of Rickon and why Rickon acted out. He didn't understand what was happening. People put his behavior off on having a lot of change at a young age; but nobody thought to look for the gift in someone so young. Off topic; apologies.
Laverne Blaszczyk I doubt that'll happen in the books.
Rickon will reconquer Winterfell, leading a horde of cannibal madmen riding on unicorns

Just the fact Robb's final words were his direwolf's name, exactly like Jon's, is suspicious. I think this happened.
I cried when Lady died in the book. She was such a good girl :( She may not have been as cool and badass as the other direwolves, but she was a good pup, she didn't deserve what happened to her.
Everyone with a heart cried.
The show doesn't really show how Rob distances himself from his direwolf and his ancestry. With that taken into account, his death seems a lot less random. In literature the death of a character often comes after the symbolic death of his identity. For example, Ned's whole identity revolves around his honor, yet it's only once he gives up his honor that he's killed.
What do you mean? His identity is that of a northerner fighting for north. By keeping his direwolf in a pen and doing the other things this guy mentioned (idk the specifics, but i trust Alt Shift X wouldn't just lie), he's giving up being a northerner in order to win.
That's a betrayal of one's identity (atleast in fiction).
As for the afterlife thing. No?Idk? If it is, it plays exactly 0 role in the story and i dont see how it's related to this at all.
The point is the symbol of restraining his wolf - which is his psychic awareness having its eyes shut to danger. Same thing happens to Jon, he has Ghost put in confinement and Jon is knifed to death. But these are symbols of the psyche being asleep or closed off/ignored. It's the mythology of the sleeping psyche that is in danger, but will awaken to grow from the naive sleep walking boy/child - to the aware awake man. Usually this occurs via a monumental catastrophe. Hell think of snow white and all the animals trying to warn her...

i need the show to stop killing direwolves
exactly! that doesn't bode well for sansa =[
In the books they were all so cool and unique besides Lady:
- Grey Wind - Easily the scariest of them all. Robb even said he should never have brought him into battle because he'd killed too many men to fear them now. He just rampaged across battlefields as this unstoppable icon of fear for Robb's enemies, and also through warging allowed Robb to scout out trails to make his marches quicker than the Lannisters predicted.
- Ghost - Fights undead, has been warged into by Bloodraven at least once, maybe three times. He might have met Coldhands, he fought with Jon against Wildlings and Qhorin Halfhand beyond the Wall, kept Jon alive in the Wildling camp by scaring the living shit out of anyone who tried to threaten him, and was Jon's inspiration for deciding to refuse Stannis' offer of becoming Jon Stark, Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, and keep his oath to the Night's Watch.
- Lady - Died because Joffrey, Cersei and Robert were fuckwits.
- Nymeria - Leads a wolf pack like 200 strong, pulls Catelyn Stark's corpse from the river therefore being essential to the creation of Lady Stoneheart. Wargs into Arya constantly from across the whole damn Narrow Sea, and indirectly helps Arya see again as Arya tapping into warging abilities constantly helped her learn to warg into a cat at will when she was blind.
- Summer - Bran's introduction to skinchanging and his powers as a Greenseer. Also fights undead. Manages to beat up Varamyr Sixskins and create his own wolf pack with another warg as a subordinate.
- Shaggy Dog - The most vicious of them all and seemingly allowed Rickon to be the first to warg, becoming an integral part of Rickon's identity and childhood.
And in the show the remaining four are being killed off or sidelined for CGI budget.
@@wafflingmean4477 Really? Wow! Good to know. I'm a fan of the show, and everytime a wolf dies it hurts my heart. Once the GoT show ends, I will definitely read the books.
@@sheylishka. I really wish I read them beforehand but I found the books through the show. Trust me, they're amazing. "...Starks direwolf killed four of our wolfhounds and tore the kennelmaster's arm off, even after we filled him with quarells..."

You're completely missing the point of the story, then. The essence of the plot is that war, fighting, killing, they are all futile. Renouncing violence completely is the answer.
I mean, his body was never found. It's definitely possible he managed to live, perhaps we'll see him show up to Nymeria while Arya is warging, or the Brotherhood will find him. Probably not however.

You didn't highlight the fact that Grey wind died *before* Robb did in the show, but in the books it was the other way around. I'm just saying that so people who only watch the show don't get confused. Anyway, a great video as always! This has never crossed my mind.
Game of Shows thank you i was confused before reading your comment.
Neseine B I'm glad I could help.
Game of Shows i think in the show Robb dies before grey wind. The slaughter didn’t start until the rains of castamere played and Robb lasted like 2 minutes after that. If the wolf died first in the show it was still has to be after robb was killed.
Tubbs 1971 I've watched the Red wedding like at least 50 times over. First, Talisa is stabbed in the gut, then Robb is shot with crossbows, and finally Catelyn gets shot by a crossbow in the back. In the next scene, Arya sees Grey wind being pierced by multiple crossbows of some Frey soldiers. He dies, and the Hound stops Arya from going to her mother and brother. That is when Talisa dies, Robb gets stabbed by Roose, and Catelyn gets her throat cut.
And btw, your last sentence kinda doesn't make any sense.
Actually if we want to get technical in the books we have no idea if grey wind is dead or not. It is an off screen death, so we just hear stories about it, and the stories have inconsistencies. There are stories about northmen turning into wolves and raging through the camp. Even the quotes presented in this video for greywinds death don't completely agree with each other. Grey wind may very well be dead but we have to be really careful with off screen deaths we only hear differing stories about. If we were taking every story at face value then Sansa turned into a half bat half wolf and flew away from the red keep. Stories can easily be bullshit, so there is some possibility that grey wind fucked a bunch of people up and ran away, maybe to join nymeria who is in that area. We just don't know.
It would seem like Martin to have a good character die more than one gruesome death...
@LagiNaLangAko23 meh. he dies for real eventually. Vargo Hoat's death is probably worse. The Mountain too. Oberyn. Ralf Kenning. Dornella Hornwood. etc.
He does die twice. Once in the show and once in the books. :)

Shaggydog is a literary term for a pointless plot device.
NED WARGED INTO ARYA
OMG YOURE SO RIGHT
MUCH SMART
Nah ned warged into those damn birds
My Nigga lol
My Nigga not sure if youre joking or not. But Ned was not a warg at all. He did not warg into birds or anything else. It was the direwolves that awakened the starks children ability to warg Ned did not have one obviously. George also said that while Sansa was a Warg she lost all her warging ability when Lady died.
Robb is one of the only Starks other than Arya that commands my respect, he is pragmatic like Tywin but he is merciful also, a rare combination in Westeros. A shame he made the classic Stark mistake and didn't pick his company better
Oooooh... Did I just found a Stark fanboy? Oh, so salty... Now you're gonna deny me that he was dumb enough to not listen to his advisors, his mother and even his direwolf? You deny that marrying the damn Jeyne Westerling (whose house is sworn to house Lannister) was stupid as fuck? How about him dropping one of his lords' head from his shoulders when he could've just inprison him until the war was over? There are other things that I can't recall, but I think I just made my point clear.
He wasn't technically retarded. But he was a immature lad. And he, because he was a kid AND a king, should have listened, instead of thinking with his dick.
lol the guy who calls people retarded and can't handle being called retarded, writes a full paragraph about Robb's immaturity.
talk about the pot calling the kettle black.
+Max Bassianini I haven't called anyone retarded. I said some FICTIONAL CHARACTER from a book was retarded. Check your facts. Besides, you and Zach took it personally and even insulted me because I stated MY OPINION. Furthermore, I presented the reasons to support my opinion, so I don't think I deserve the way you are treating me.
+Zach Kabia I understand the things Robb must had endured, the pressure and the difficulties. And his cause was a good one; save his father (though later on avenge him), save his sisters, etc. But no one is gonna think about the many thousands of deaths that the stupid Game of Thrones the Lords play is causing? One of Martin's intentions to show us is that war is for the sake of a few highborns, but in the end it only causes suffer and tragedy to everyone, especially the common people. This has even said by Alt Shift X a few times in his videos. All this Game of Thrones thing is pointless (though entertaining for us readers). What is important is to be united for saving Westeros against the imminent threat that is looming above all of them.
I'd like to make another point... Robb should have gone North again to save his own land, IMO. He won every battle but he lost the war, even before he died. I'm currently re-reading the books for the 3rd time, and I'm juuust in that chapter in ASOS when Hoster passes away and Lothar and Walder Rivers are in Riverrun to treat with Robb. Catelyn (I don't recall if that was the chapter or the previous one) presents Robb the option of surrender. What does Robb say? No chance. It's his stupid pride, among many other mistakes that made him lose the war (and his head). Every one makes mistakes (even the damn Tywin with his hatred towards Tyrion), but if you make mistakes constantly and you don't act like a king should (for instance, keep your vows), then you're doomed. Because yeah, why Robb's bannermen should keep loyalty to Robb when he doesn't keep his words?
They really do have a habit of it don't they?
- Ned Stark trusted Peter Baelish too much, who then led him into a trap which ultimately led to his death.
- Robb Stark trusted Roose Bolton too much, giving him too much control over his army, which Roose used to get a third or so of Robb's army killed deliberately, and use his distance from Robb to discretely hand over Jamie to Tywin and organise the Red Wedding with Tywin and Walder Frey.
- Robb also trusted the Westerlings too much. For anyone who doesn't know in the books Robb married a girl called Jeyne Westerling. Talisa never existed in the books. The girl cared for him after he received a grievous wound, and cared for him emotionally after he got word his little brothers were dead. When he had sex with her he believed the only honourable thing to do was marry her. The Westerlings plotted to betray Robb from the start, as he had conquered the castle (which was how they met), as Jeyne's mother kept spiking her drinks with Moon Tea to prevent Jeyne from getting pregnant so Robb wouldn't have an heir (Jeyne only found out after Robb's death) and the rest of the Westerlings flipped sides the moment Robb died. One seemed to even be plotting to betray Robb long term as Grey Wind kept on having to be held back from killing him even when Robb clearly didn't want him to.
- Jon Snow did not realise how much he had escalated the situation in Castle Black, trusting that while his men might turn on the Wildlings he was bringing south of the wall, they wouldn't turn on him. He also sent all of his allies away from Castle Black. He sent Sam to Oldtown, he sent Aemon with him (to prevent Stannis from burning him), and he sent all the rest of his friends besides Doloros Ed who would have died for him to other castles, as them being too casual with him was undermining his authority in front of other brothers of the Night's Watch. He should have kept them close.
@Samuel Bradley
He was right, though. Robb made lots of stupid mistakes. He was a talented battlefield commander and usually a decent man, but that's all.
Breaking his oath to Walder was neither pragmatic nor merciful.
Turning his back on Grey Wind was neither pragmatic nor merciful.
Trusting Roose Bolton was neither pragmatic nor merciful.
Executing Karstark was neither pragmatic nor merciful.
These were all foolish decisions that cost thousands of men their lives and nearly destroyed house Stark, along with several other Northern houses. I am a Stark fanboy, and Robb was a fool.

This is literally the cruelest video I ever watched. How could you make the Red Wedding MORE tragic 😭😭
Please make a video on how Robb could've won the war, covering all the mistakes he's made and saying what he should've done instead.
He couldn't have won the war. Even if he kept the karstark men, got walder frey's men, and took casterly rock. We now know the rock is useless. They would've took it and lost the war anyways from a lack of resources. If they attacked kings landing straight away, they would've lost like stannis. The only way they would've had a chance is with the greyjoys, but that wasn't in rob's control. Baelon would've had to agree, which he'd never do.
MMG 006 He should have kept Jaime as prisoner, not break his promise to the freys, told Edmure about his battle plans, and shouldnt have executed karstark
Mateo12485 That is not true, kings landing was in a very weak state and they would be attacked by two sides. Stannis had a much smaller force and almost won if not for the tyrells coming and the wildfire trick
If he had just married the Frey's like he was supposed to he would have the support of the frey's and he would have been able to keep the riverlands. If he didn't send theon to the ironborn, he could have had their support, they could have raided the lannisters, so he could focus on tywins forces. If he had reached out to Stannis, I'm sure they could have crushed the lannisters together. If he had treated with the Tyrells after king Renly's death, they could have defeated the Lannisters. I'm sure he could have made some secret deal with the Martells or the Royce's he could have gained the support of the Dornish and part of the Vale. Any one of these options could have resulted in a successful campaign, but unfortunately he didn't
xbob Driesestig i think stannis was off the cards since he was so stubborn and would refuse to cooperate unless robb bent the knee

Robb is a great character study. Looking back he wanted to do good, and although you felt really bad for him when he dies....deep down you know it was truly justified, which makes all of his previous actions hold so much weight
Just curious, but what makes you think that his death is justified?
Wowowow. Beware of Brad guys. Don't promise him anything you can't fullfill or he will stab you in your heart.
stupid decisions as king. Killing karstark during a war, holding jamie and then losing him (should've foreseen his mother trying to free sisters) and of course, betraying freys. He was about as bad a king as kings get. He got all his people slaughtered, even joffrey didn't do that. In the end, intentions don't matter, results do.
I wouldn't say his death was justified. I would say he had it coming. That's not really the same thing.
He was inexperienced and did mistakes but didn't deserve to die for it like that. Karstark was an idiot and nobody would keep an ally like that. Not even Tywin.
Wow ....that was so intense, so creative and never saw it coming. Very cool Shift!
Always a smile on my face when I see a New Alt Shift X video. No matter gruesome and sad the subject matter. The Winds of Winter needs to come out soon so we get more videos from this excellent channel.
Although I do think giving a character a dramatic death then reviving them diminishes the impact of the death (Unless it's vital to the story), having Robb Warg into Westerling and briefly return would be good. Although I''d prefer it to be only hinted at rather than stated our right.
its so deeply tragic the way that both Jon and Robb were betrayed and both's last words were the name of their wolves, it shows how even among all of their worries in their lifes, their respective wolf just had such a big connection with them that the last thing they thought of was them, maybe asking for help or maybe as a warning, it also goes to show the simmetries between Jon and Robb, they were clearly close ofcourse, Robb declared Jon his heir if he were to die, they were both betrayed, both following Neds footsteps to their death (even though Jon does comeback).
Cheers to you, brother. That actually teared me up a bit.

I heard a theory that Ned Stark warged in to a bird when he died. That's why the first thing we hear after he dies is the flutter of wings and when Arya opens her eyes she she's a flock of birds flying away.
No no no. Robert Baratheon warges into one of the pigeons along with Ned, and as Arya walks down the Kings Road the two pigeons morph their heads into the heads of the characters respectively. Robert says "THE HOOOOAR is pregnant" and they fly away with Arya towards the sunset.

6:06 You are astonishing for this exact moment, in each vidéos. You offer an amazing theory that blow your mind, and then you say "we can go further". And that's where your videos shine and are the best on youtube about GOT topic
Amazing video
I always loved your videos (and don't get me wrong: I also liked this one, but not as much as many of the others.), but within the last months, I often asked myself: Isn't there more interesting stuff to talk about? ASOIAF is full of mysteries, und I would love to see more videos like the one about Varys/the Blackfyre theory (my personal favourite), the Faceless Men/Euron or the Great Northern Conspiracy, about theories that could change our perspective on the whole story. I know about Aegon's conquest or Rhaegar Targaryen, so these videos didn't catch my attention like the more speculative ones used to do. There are so many topics you could cover without entering tinfoil territory - the Great Empire of the Dawn, the role of Ashara Dayne, Melisandre's origins, plans and her final fate, Marwyn the Mage, Patchface, the Deep Ones or the "great stone beast" from Dany's visions in the House of the Undying, ... -, and I would lave to see you tailking about them!
I am very pleased you have upgraded your audio quality😁 I can really tell the difference between this video and s7ep7 review. An awesome video mate. Keep it up :))
Another great vid! Thanks 👍🏻
Fantastic video! I have been just a fan of the show but I intend to read the books soon. I have been hoping for a connection between the Starks & their wolves like in the movie ‘Dragonheart’ & this is adding to my beliefs!! A lot of people took issue with Arya surviving her wound in Bravvos but I feel that if she can connect with her wolf across the sea that implies a deep connection & maybe since her wolf is alive she is able to heal (with proper medical attention). We never see Sansa take a death blow after Lady’s death so can’t test it on her. The idea that Jon goes into Ghost is awesome & we see Ghost look up at Jon right before he “wakes up”. Summer’sdeath felt out of place & not sure if GRRM would have written that or not. Thanks!!!
Ive always wondered about the scratches on lady stonehearts eyes. Do you think its possible that Robb also tried to warg her, instead of Raynald Westerling? It reminds me of Varamyr trying to warg the spear wife, with her clawing at her eyes.
Tobias Ash Cat clawed her eyes because she saw Robb get killed
Glad your back!
Simply superbly brilliant..can't wait for the next season!
*N A N I*
>Wargs into Grey Wind
Frey Soldiers: Omae wa mou... shindeiru
Grey Wind: Nani?!
>Frey Soldiers crossbows make horrendous beeping noise and glow red before firing
Euphoric Visigoth Right here, lads. This is the gold comment you're searching for...
Goddamn, I laughed way too much at that reply
I think if Robb would of actually warged a second time, he would of tried to save Arya and not have abandoned her.
100 percent. no doubt in my mind
This channel is the best. Keep it up!
wohoo a new altshiftx video!! awesome
"Next book" -Yeah I wish I had more confidence that said book was actually definitely coming.
"Actually definitely" was necessary here bro. I don't want to say that I don't believe it is coming, I just wish I was sure, and I'm not.
It's simply not safe to assume that we're actually getting another book IMO.
It’s probably coming about in 2019 after S8
Dan B I hope so, but GRRM's motivation to write is something I have serious doubts about.
Chris Moore I think George still writes
He’s was busy AF with the show
And he’s working on 4 prequels
Love this, one note, the warg ability is in the body, and once you leave your body, you can only return to your body or die. As Varamyr could not leave his wild body after his mans body died.
Good to hear from you again, man!
Thank you so much for your videos! They are always fun and informative!
Can you please make a video about Young Griff and all the theories about him and him identity?
Thank you!
Game of thrones:
Robb dies twice.
Robb resisted Grey Wind, I think he knew he was a warg and was afraid of it. I do believe that he died twice, as you say.
Whenever I notice a new Alt Shift X video is out I drop everything. Some things in life just cannot wait.
Love your work bud
Damn, imagine:
The Winds of Winter
Chapter I: Ghost
I love how in the books there are so many freaking zombies.
Like we got ice zombies, fire zombies, nature zombies (like Coldhands), tree zombie/undead (Brynden), there's Lady Stoneheart who is also a fire zombie maybe?, then there Gregor whose a science zombie and there's the stonemen, who are... Like water magic zombies or whatever.
Damn George RR. Loves his zombies. (he's actually nights King plot twist)
WHY did you make this video! This is sooooo heartbreaking! i legit almost cried at this!
Great analysis, thanks!
By the old gods... have a happy weekend people XD
Just a question:
Did they beheaded Robb as well or did they just put the direwolves head over his?
These videos make me so happy
Oooh, it was so short :( nice work btw! Love your videos
