I don't know anything about RTTY, but your excellent how-to videos taught me almost everything I know about the ICOM 7300. Thank you.

Thanks for the clear explaining of fldigicontest and showing the actual operating in the contest.

Great RTTY is stilll alive. Started in the 70s with a mechanic Teletype and a ST6 homebrew Covertor with 88mh Toroids.. Long time since then.. 73 de Tom HB9DOD KL5X

There were tons of stations on during the contest. Unfortunately, you rarely hear any RTTY signals outside of RTTY specific contests any more.

Great video Tom! I have to send some time and learn some of the older modes. CW is one of those. 73

Thank for another great video Tom. I have watched your ic7100 videos end to end and they have taught me so much. I cant seem to get my 7100 to transmit sstv(mmsstv)
any advice ? Thanks for the great videos.

The most common issues I see with “not transmitting” problems is that the radio is not getting audio from your computer. Make sure the 7100 mode shows “-D” for “Data” mode. Make sure that you have Data Mode Modulation set to come from the USB port in the Connectors Settings menu. Finally, make sure that your settings in MMsstv are set to the right audio device. It should be something with “USB CODEC” in it.

I'm sure during FD it will be very busy. Any suggestions to get those contacts?

Probably the biggest suggestion is just practice and get really comfortable with FLDigi. You will especially want to have your macros setup ahead of time.

Thanks for the really nice contest walk-thru on FLDigi Tom! I have yet to make a RTTY contact, but this helped to get my understanding and confidence up to give it a try. I’m a bit familiar with FLDigi, so that’ll help too. Thanks a bunch! 👍📻⚡️Tom - WA7FLY

I just don't understand why there are such significant differences in my 4.2.04 and the on screen config. Ie. Yours shows LSB-D, mine does not even show that in the pulldown. It shows "PKTLSB." If I put my rig in rtty, and the fldigi in rtty, it sees the badot, but doesn't decode...so frustrated!

You didn't mention which radio you are using. I assume a 7300? Are you using the correct rig configuration file (for the 7300)? FLDigi (and most digital mode programs) send audio to the radio to simulate the tones you would get by actually shifting the radio's carrier. So you need to have the rig in LSB, rather than in RTTY mode. It is not really intuitive. The -D after LSB means the radio is in Data mode, instead of voice. So it is expecting to get it's audio from the USB port instead of the microphone. I hope this helps.
