very helpful and right to the point.. thank you. now all I need to d is getting FLDigi and my 857D getting along .. which is surprisingly difficult ( no clue why ) .. anyway.. '73 stay save
To show or hide all 48 macro buttons, select the View->View/Hide 48 macros menu item. Toggling it on or off will show 1 or 4 rows of buttons. Make sure to have "One above RX/TX" ticked and uncheck the "4 bar macro set below TX" on the Config Macro Buttons dialog. That should display all 4 rows of macro buttons above the transmit section.
Wish I could give 5 thumbs up for this comment. Managed to finally get these 48 macro buttons by following your directions. FLDIGI is pretty unintuitive to setup.
Yes you can. I didn’t want to go as deep as using the dtr signal to key the rig. I’ll be adding it to my upcoming updates to all of these videos. Thanks
Thanks! Your videos have been very helpful as a new operator (KE2CPG--Jerry) I have a question--may have missed in the video. How do you set the speed of the of the CW? For instance my contact asks me to QRS? Thanks again and 73
Since I'm using an external keyer - WinKeyer USB - changing the speed if just a matter of turning the knob on the front of the keyer. If you're using a rigs internal keyer, there should be a on screen setting for that.
My K1EL should be delivered tomorrow via snail mail. I understand why CW was picked. Will the Keyer decode the CW and print to Fldigi. I use Flrig to PTT the radio. I use Flrig for JS8call, Varac, and Pat Winlink on my Linux laptop. Way back in 2009 or there about I used a Soundcard and Fldigi to decode and print on Fldigi. The Winkeyer is a new device for me.
The winkeyer usb is a keyer only, but I believe that fldigi includes a decoder - or has the capability of using a plug in decoder. I’ll have to go back and review.
I don't know if you figured out your macro "layout",, I did discover this though,, , go to your config,, ui and click , macro buttons click 2 scheme 4,, and see if that gets you want you want on the number of macros!
I can't tell you how helpful this video was... Thanks!
I will have to try this. Back in the day I had to learn CW to get my General license but never used CW for a QSO. Thanks!
I use it as a backup to my ears. I used to be able to copy in my head at around 35wpm, but age is taking its toll…
Great video!! I think I learned more about this program than in any other video!!!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks Tom, great video. I was wondering the macro for the "Log IT" to N3FJP logger?
If you used the ADP connection to N3FJP the logit on fl-digi will also log on N3FJP

Can’t you use FL Digi to transmit CW? If so, would I select Configure - Modem - CW - DTR-RTS keying to click the “Use flirt DTS/RTS keying”

Yes, I asked Scott (N3FJP) about that and he gave me the fix…. He often visited our field day site when I lived in MD, and we became friends…
