    Awesome tutorial and I'm not sure if you figured it out or someone mentioned it here but your issue with importing your messages on the first try was/is not a bug. It was due to not selecting MMTTY.FLdigi in the drop-down box before hitting import. But when you right clicked on the message buttons, it pre-selected it for you when it opened the message import window again. I know its a year later but thought I would throw that in there for "Just in Case" purposes. Again, this tutorial got me up and running. Thanks and 73. Harold K7ILO

    I just got the FTDX 10. Your video's were extremely helpful getting me up and running in FT 8 and Rtty using N1MM software for contest logging. Setting up CW was very familiar to me to me in N1MM but now I would like to voice recording for SSB contesting. Could you do a tutorial using the voice recorder in a Yaesu Transceiver controlled by the function keys in N1MM? Thanks, Jon K3CY

      Hi Jonathan,
      Glad you got it all working! Boy, the phone automation with sound files is quite dicey. The first issue is how your get the audio into the radio. You could rig up a interface from the computer soundcard to the mic plug and push the audio that way, or devise a way to send a CAT command to the radio to switch to data-mode to send the audio directly into the radio's sound card. And that's just the beginning! Now you have to setup all the audio files to do the exchanges. There are really in depth instructions here: n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/setup/function-keys/#special-measures-for-ssb-function-keys . It really is a daunting task. That's why I don't use the ESM mode for SSB.

    Hi Stu, thanks for a great video, just one question, is there a way to increase the text size in the Fldigi window? I have tried via the Fldigi config but the digital window keeps closing and not remembering the settings? Thanks again Rob MW0CVT.

      Hi Rob,
      Great Question! The settings for the window you speak of is actually part of N1MM+. I've personally never messed with the settings but here is where they are...
      The font settings are under the N1MM+ Config menu. You will find a Manage Skins, Colors and Fonts item. Select that and you should find an area to edit the font size for the digital window.
      Hope that helps, and let us know if it works!

    Hi, Stu. Do you have a video explaining how to edit the macros for a specific contest - in my case, the BARTG HF RTTY contest. In there, the exchange includes a 4-character (not 6) UTC/GMT time. When I enter "TIMEGMT" in the brackets for the "EXCH", and run it, it does a 6-character time (xx:xx:xx), not 4 (xx:xx). I was able to get the "599" to display correctly, but not the time. I was also able to get the Message number to display correctly, with the "#". What do I put between the "EXCH" brackets for the time? The exchange for this contest is:
     RST
     MESSAGE NUMBER: The number must be a three or four figure number starting at 001 and
    incrementing by one (1) per contact
     TIME UTC (GMT): A full four figure UTC (GMT) time must be sent as part of the exchange

    • @AG6AG
      @AG6AG  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Mike,
      I think what you are looking for is {TIME2}. I do not have a video on the macros as of yet. It would probably be a long and boring one... :). My main reference for F-keys and Macros is:
      n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/setup/function-keys/#macros
      It contains everything you ever wanted to know. You might want to glance at the {EXCH} variable as well. Of course you can't edit much in the contest setup.
      Hope that helps!

    Thank you for this video. I have been using Fldid for a long time now but have never done any contesting. I followed along with you and set up Fldidi with N1MM in the directory plus did all the other parameters that you set. Now, by marrying Fldigi with N1MM will I be able to set up a macro where the contest serial number will increment automatically after each QSO? If so How would I do that?

    • @AG6AG
      @AG6AG  Год назад

      Hi Smitty,
      Since N1MM is now the big dog in the N1MM / FLDigi relationship, you actually edit the F-Key macros in the main logging window of N1MM. The you can right click the buttons on the data screen and select import macros. These are located in the N1MM user directory usually located under Documents.
      The good news is that the default data macros for each contest are pretty close to what you probably want and require only limited editing.
      Here is more info on how to use this stuff: n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/setup/function-keys/
      Hope that helps!

      @@AG6AG Well I was still having problems working it. There were some things I needed to learn more about in Fldigi. I figured since Fldigi is a popular program it should be able to do almost anything other programs could do. So I went back to it and the forum for help. And now I am contest experienced from this week ends contest. I think I will stay with it.

      Hi Kevin,
      Down in the bottom right corner of FLDigi you will see a box with 0.0 in it and single and double arrows on either side. This is a Transmit DB adjustment. You can adjust the transmit volume inside of FLDigi and it will not affect the settings in either windows or the radio.
      Hope that helps!

      Hi Chris,
      There are a ton if places to edit macros in both N1MM+ and FLDigi. I would advise for non contest digital QSOs to just use FLDigi in standalone and import the ADIF log into your main log program when you are done...

    Hello Stu, I am getting ready for Makrothen RTTY and want to use FLDigi, because it works the best for my radio FTDX3000, will your linking N1MM to FLDigi work for this contest, all they want for an Exch is your grid

    • @AG6AG
      @AG6AG  4 года назад

      Hi Robert,
      The Makrothen RTTY Contest is fully supported by N1MM+ Here is the link regarding the contest:
      n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/manual-supported/contests-setup/setup-digital-contests/#makrothen-rtty-contest
      And FLDigi works great within N1MM+ with the FTdx3000. I know because I use one as well!
      Just follow the instructions in the video(s) and you should be fine. Here is the N1MM+ play list:

    Can N1MM decode multiple PSK signals like using FLDigi in standalone mode?
    Tnx! va2sib

    • @AG6AG
      @AG6AG  3 года назад

      Yes, but not the way that you are used to... You can have up to 4 additional monitoring windows running at the same time. This is done by creating additional FLDigi Directories and copying the FLDigi EXE into each of the directories. This allows you to decode a stream in each instance.
      Here is the info from the N1MM+ Website:
      n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/manual-operating/digital-modes/#additional-rx-windows-for-rtty
      I use this all the time to listen to more then one signal.

      Hi Aleziss,
      It's an N1MM thing. They want to control everything from start to finish.
      You can certainly import the ADIF log from a clean FLDigi log and massage it to work... But, at the end of the day, going through all the hoops really pays off at the end...

    It is not necessary to copy fldigi.exe executable to a separate directory. Just point to your installation directory in C:\Program Files(x86)\fldigi... Exactly as you show in the video, just put their the right path and you're done. Actually, copying EXE files to another location out of their original installation location is not recommendable. And copying them into Documents subtree is even worse (actually, N1MM is not much better in this respect... I would not put software configuration and databases in the same directory as my documents, because Documents folder should be used for ... documents??!).

    • @AG6AG
      @AG6AG  4 года назад

      Hi Jindrich,
      The reason you need to copy the EXE is so you don't hose your standard FLDigi config. You can copy it anywhere you want, but you need it in it's own directory to work properly with N1MM+ and not mess with your daily config.
      That all said, I guess if you are not using FLDigi for anything but contests then it wouldn't matter? You can also copy the EXE to different directories and register them as additional monitors.
      Here is a link to the actual installation instructions as per N1MM+:
      n1mmwp.hamdocs.com/manual-operating/digital-modes/#digital-fldigi-for-sound-card-modes
      -- Stu

    • @ok4rm
      @ok4rm 4 года назад +1

      @@AG6AG Nope sir. The fldigi instance started from N1MM has its own configuration, which is blank in the beginning. That was kinda annoying because I had to enter everything I have had configured before, except maybe those things that N1MM logger copied from its own configuration, such as maybe station call sign etc. One config parameter is especially annoying: fldigi when asked to shut down displays confirmation dialog by default. In some contests where you can use both digi and non-digi modes, after switching from digi to eg. ssb, the logger hangs because it waits for fldigi process to terminate, but fldigi does not, because it's confirmation dialog window does not have focus and is covered by N1MM windows. And what is peculiar, it is not possible to configure this instance of fldigi not to show the dialog because this part of configuration is not accessible in waterfall-only mode, which is how of is launched by N1MM.
      If what you say was true, this problem would not exist because my standalone configuration terminates without asking. Unfortunately, both N1MM and fldigi contain annoying design flaws, as a result of is not very comfortable to use them, especially together. But so far I didn't find better contesting logger than N1MM, so I have to live through it.
      On the other hand, the logger in fldigi is horrible, especially in contests, so in some sense combining N1MM and fldigi is sort of better option. And for multi-mode contests where some stations explicitly ask for digital qso after completing cw or fone, or vice versa, N1MM is the only option (especially when the exchange contains QSO number...).
