How does this armour guys feel in the vehicle and turret. I was in V200 sometimes during NS days. Don't like to be in a mobile oven,so hot, cannot get just out any time as wish due to ops. Now seeing these armour guys wrapped by armour. How do they feel when they were stew cooked same temperature for hours.
Wonder how all the guys inside all types of vehicle feels during drive past. Feeling being forced to do it unwillingly ? Or feeling excited and passionate about doing it.
u can tell by their reactions to the camera. these ppl are diff, when u give such roles, ofc ppl will be proud. when u kena storemen etc all that saikang, thats where u feel forced. armour guards infantry etc they dont feel forced due to the pride n honour that comes with the unit

They deploy in overseas exercises. Singapore's small size requires training space elsewhere. From Germany to Australia, India to New Zealand, our armed forces regularly train with our overseas partners in a variety of settings and conditions to simulate more realistic battlefield conditions.

Tanks are going to become scrap metal in a junkyard if they aren't protected by Air Force units. My previous unit was so important that we have to train to defend ourselves and our weapon systems from those pesky commandos.

Singapore armed forces has become a modern and capable force to recon with. They had to do this cause Singapore is a small country and to have a weak armed force would be a disaster and catastrophic. A strong and capable armed force is to preserve and protect their sovereignty. Building a strong armed force is actually for prevention of war too.
Nowadays, no leader want to initiate war. Except the Americans; threaten wars to sell weaponry. In 10 years time , all these will be obsolete in modern warfare.

The defence budget has not seen huge spikes in a long time. Year on year, the increase has been minor increments. The last major jumped was when the SAF underwent the 3rd generation transformation somewhere between 2007 - 2012 which saw major spikes that drew eyebrows and ire. Defence minister himself has said it that defence spending will increase steadily and will be kept pace with inflation. So a spike will not happen unless the security landscape in the region changes drastically. Small increases are managable which does not require the direct involvement of the 9% gst. Our country has more issues at hand. When the next generation of leaders takes the helm, their challenge is an ageing popluation, disruptive technologies, climate change and ensuring that we have a skilled workforce. Alrdy there is an increase number of hospitals being built. We have Ng teng fong, Senkang and upcoming woodlands. Alexandra underwent renovations, new developments in the SGH campus. A medical centre at NUH and most recently a Dental centre there as well. You cannot imagine what works are going on to meet the demand for 2030. Our transport system is getting bigger. Recently lta showed the Land transport master plan for 2040. New line is being studied and this is just an initial plan. More will follow. In the 2030 plan, you have 2 lines, Jurong region line and the cross island the line the heaviest class of all. One must not forget and neglect the existing lines after the mess we went through. So spending of transport will sure go up. Alrdy u heard of news that fares will go up eventually as operators cannot sustain as they are making losses. Refuse that and we are back in 2011 when all the breakdowns happened till today. Singapore really need such expensive war machine to showcase their determination, to frighten away their overwhelmingly big neighbours' aggression. That's what their strategy for psychological warfare is all about. That's the main theme and nothing more can be done.
