The men and women involved begin before 0600 all the way past midnight. This goes on for multiple weekends until August 9. Being able to see a little bit of the behind-the-scenes of what uniformed personnel do has given me a new appreciation for the long and hard work involved. I will not tolerate racist comments or wording intended to incite hate. This video is never meant to fuel any misplaced sense of nationalism. I do hope to make more Mobile Column videos as the rehearsals continue. Thank you, and Majulah Singapura.

The Leopards are a sight to behold. While moving in column, I think it looks better to have 1 turret at 10 o'clock, the one behind at 2 o'clock and so alternately from 3rd vehicle onwards. Also it will be nice to have a sole AMX-13 leading the Leopards in. That will show how far our Armour forces have progress over the years.

The SAF and Mindef has a mission of defending Singapore through Deterence and Diplomacy. What you see on NDPs are Deterence as well as exercised conducted. Of course, exercises serves the purpose to ensure that the soldiers are well trained, it also reminds others that the SAF is not slacking and are constantly training to maintain standards and be ready. Diplomacy is conducted through lets say bilateral exercises, exchanges and cooperation. Mindef focuses on policy, defence ties and meetings like defence minister meetings e.g. ADMM+ where they reaffirm ties like you usually see on their website when they meet a country. The Navy always like to use the phrase "We work with like minded nations" on their ads where cooperstions from different militaries also bridge ties lets say counter piracy which every nation can agree on. To sum up, main mission of the SAF is to secure Singapore through deterence and diplomacy where they deter potential aggressors and build on friendships and ties. Making friends is better than making enemies. And should they (deterence and diplomacy) fail, to secure a swift and decisive victory. Remember that more than half a year ago, someone was in our backyard(waters) and claim it as theirs. Diplomacy was mainly at work to settle the issue. Which is standard. Deterence was at play though not so direct. An LMV made its presence known and it upseted the leader of that country and even he called us out for having a warship there. I would think it is because it was good enough. Well for us at least if you look at the changes throughout the 1st and 2nd generation SAF. AMX-13s light tanks were the primary tanks. Subsequently upgraded to SM1 standard(that is what we call them). It is said that we were the largest operator of the AMX 13. I mean it is no big achievement or whatsoever. Just a no. Transiting from a light tank to a main battle tank is pretty big. Imo Rather than perhaps a medium tank. The SAF underwent a transformation known as the 3rd gen. It is a major shift forward that involves all services. My take is it is costly and during that period, the defence budget went up alot. Which is pretty obvious looking at the overhaul. New F15sg, subs, ICVs etc.. The subs are 2nd hand btw. Archer class subs from sweden. Only bought 2. I think the 2A4 was a decent transition. It wasnt a new or best kind of equipment. Then again how do u define best? Best in the world? Or best suited for yourself? We prefer the later. The 2A4s were great opportunity. Known as the great german leopard fire sale or whatever people call it, it was a very good offer. With the cold war ended, the germans need not that many tanks. The 2A4s were the most widely produced variant if i am not wrong. So there were alot of excess stock available. We bought the tanks, modernised it with the evolution upgrade by IDB. So it turns out decent. Observing regional players MBTs, the leopard 2SG fits fine. With additional enhancements along the way. Not anything big. Like a commander's sight. Nothing much, but it serves well. I would agree with the earlier comment as well. Any MBT can be destroyed by an ATGM or disabled. Not saying it is useless. MBT still has a role to play in this period. APS increases its survivability. So there are still avenues

And Sg forces out guns and out numbers the opposing army by several times, precisely for the purpose of a huge pre-emptive raid all the way pass Malacca with mobile, armoured and airbone divisions. Sg Airforce outnumbers the opposing airforce in quality and numbers by several times, 200 leopard tanks vs 80 old Russian tanks, and then, it's armoured sweep of their land to take out their offensive ability, followed by staged retreat to defensive perimeter and UN mediation....not interested in fighting in Jungles, only in knocking out their invasion capability.

Tu 95 is a slow beast , there is a multiple defence umbrella of 3d radar, AWACS , F15, F16 , Aster missile etc to deal with it. Besides we are not at any conflict with nuclear power. This military is purely for deterrence and self defense. With a nuclear warhead many countries will be gone in 60s. However I read a centurion tank was at a middle of a nuclear blast , it survive and was operational for a long career. So your statement may not be true.

Sg Airforce outnumbers the opposing airforce in quality and numbers by several times, 200 leopard tanks vs 80 old Russian tanks, and then, it's armoured sweep of their land to take out their offensive ability, followed by staged retreat to defensive perimeter and UN mediation....not interested in fighting in Jungles, only in knocking out their invasion capability.

Tu 95 is a slow beast , there is a multiple defence umbrella of 3d radar, AWACS , F15, F16 , Aster missile etc to deal with it. Besides we are not at any conflict with nuclear power. This military is purely for deterrence and self defense. With a nuclear warhead many countries will be gone in 60s. However I read a centurion tank was at a middle of a nuclear blast , it survive and was operational for a long career. So your statement may not be true.
