My wife and a couple of her friends started one here! It took off surprisingly quickly too, but it did take a little while to educate people on how it is supposed to work. A few notable differences for our local group vs what you said: we encouraged people to avoid the acronyms like "ISO" and instead use the words "Ask:", "Give:", and "Gratitude:". It isn't like you'd get banned for it, but it is a nice way to show you actually read the page you're supposed to read. So like you said definitely read the rules!

Love this, thank you for sharing!! We need more stuff like this in the world!
In my neighbourhood we have something so cool that acts like one of those "little free library" boxes, but for food items, etc! People just drop food off/pick it up as needed. I don't know how many there are in the city but it's fantastic!!

there isn't one in walkable or bus distance near me in the UK - I don't drive and I don't own a smartphone (to get the app) for ADHD reasons, but it warms my heart knowing that they're out there! Glad you got some good stuff. 🙂

    1. Appreciate you addressing me in spaces like this. I was a bit apprehensive about this at first, feeling like there may not be a place for us for varying reasons.
    2. Your hair up and the glasses with the chains A LOOK™. 🔥

My mom basically hosts one of these over on WhatsApp and it is SO wonderful. Why would we all need a drill and a saw and a whole bunch of power tools when you can just borrow them from a neighbour? Why toss away something that's still good (just not perfect enough for resale)? Sharing really is caring :)

I didn't see one in my city (Rialto) on the website, but it's a nice. Then again I live with my Aunt who is very much a "call the cops over a noise complaint" kind of white lady, and she's spent more money on security cameras for the house since my grandma died last year than I think I've spent on any kind of camera in my whole life, so I doubt she'd be up for it.

adjacent, slightly more social thing: repair cafes. they're public events where people fix a ton of stuff, anyone can come by. there's usually people to mend clothes and fix electronics at the one I volunteer for. there was a shoe repair guy there once with a leather sewing machine from the 1800s
