If A-train does have a self sacrifice fight against Homelander this season I wanna see him just say fuck it and take so much V that we get to see someone actually beat the dogshit out of Homie for a minute before going down.

It's verbatim stated that Homelander can survive all kinds of artillery and that implied nukes as well. Unless A train becomes as powerful as HL somehow, there's not much chance of seeing that happen. Even Soldier Boy, Hughie and Butcher amped on V together couldn't jump him. It's theorised that Soldier Boy's V destroying radiation wouldn't even work, cuz V isn't just inside HL, he is fundamentally made of it and is technically the genetically perfect version of SB. Homelander maybe a diabolical villain, but he certainly isn't a fraud. If this happens, it's definitely to give A train some plot convenience before he dies.

If the writers wrote it that way, I would be disappointed because in most comic iterations, the speedster is a master at speed. So while a “Superman type” may be strong and fast, usually any being that is a solo master at either one would outclass the Superman type, forcing them to push themselves to meet that challenge. It’s good balance overall. They could write it where a-train has been holding back because he knew that Homelander would consider him a threat.

And HL has laser vision. In theory, he should be able to split anyone in half whenever he wants. Doesn't matter that A-T is fast, bc mach speed is many orders of magnitude slower than light. If HL fights someone and doesn't kill them, its either because he doesn't actually want to kill them (he wanted to have kids with Maeve for example, so he didn't kill her even though he could have), or it's bad writing.

Flash can move faster or at the speed of light, throwing a punch or any even light objects like a rock or something would result in gigatons of energy imparted onto the target. The flash could run with a big ish rock and throw it at a mountain to end the world basically.

Only going by the show, but A train is able to things like open doors while traveling in speed. He blew through a body without taking any damage himself while in speed. Also when he moves we don't see him till he stops, Homelander is seen when traveling most of the time. I think he maybe faster but limited to his normal sup reaction time. Like in season one when he was searching for Translucent he was easily seen in the sky. I don't think A train could win but Homelander won't be able to catch him.
A-Train is constantly pushing himself, Homelander barely tries. In season 1 f16 fighters were already in route to the plane before Homelander even left Vaught tower, yet he gets there and leaves before the jets ever do

A-Train's sight and reactions, such as opening and closing doors, is adjusted to his super speed level when using it. So he would be able to out maneuver Homelander and avoid being beaten.

You're wrong about A-Train's speed. During his training we see him run around a running track in 1 second, and even less. And considering running track are standardized at 400 meters, which would put him at more than 900 mph and his brother said he was off. So his top speed is very probably in excess of 1000 mph like it was said right before his race. Which is 444.44 m/s or Mach 1.3. That's nowhere nearly Homelander's Mach 2 to Mach 4, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be precise.
I always felt like that scene of Homelander being fast enough to save Butcher was a case of the writers straight up not realising how fast that makes him. Given that his flight speed is only about 40% faster than A-Train's amped running speed, and the two actual fights we've seen him in are way slower than either thing. They're probably moving faster than humans, sure, but unless you also want to scale Temp-V Butcher and Hughie to being that much faster than A-Train as well, since they were fighting Homelander and not being blitz'd, I feel like it's honestly just a weird outlier. We see A-Train fight at speed against Kimiko, and he's clearly moving faster compared to her by enough to blitz, but Homelander is moving relative to everyone else in that scene. And I just don't think temp V allows someone to move that much faster than a Supe whose whole deal is speed. Unless season 4 has repeated speed scaling which makes that speed consistent, I personally feel iffy about actually including it in debates. Combat speed is almost always slower than travel speed.
On top of getting himself and Butcher away from the explosion, he would have had to be somewhat gentle with Butcher to keep his back or neck from breaking. There's also the fact Homelander could hear A Train coming from a mile away and be ready for him.
It doesn't even matter if A-Train was faster. It would be like with Omni Man and Red Rush. He just couldn't inflict enough damage to severely hurt Homelander no matter what

Tbh, I do think it's not even close, if I'm not mistaken Homelander can even fly faster than A-Train, BUT Queen Maeve vs Homelander is a fight that shouldn't even have been close either, but Maeve shoved that metal rod into Homelander's ear, and then again, if I'm also not mistaken, Homelander wasn't paying attention to her the moment she did that, had she shoved it just a little deeper, Homelander could say bye-bye to his brain. It is all reliant on the plot, A-Train could actually end up putting one hell of a fight against Homelander if the writers wanted to.
DEvils advocate, he could just be outpacing the speed of butcher activating the explosives. Butcher pressing the button, and then the radio signal traveling between the micro electronics gives homelander a head start.
A few big things are important when comparing the speed of these characters. For one, Homelander has said himself that he can get to space, meaning his maximum speed (while likely not trying very much due to how he is) is around escape velocity. This is higher than that calculation. Secondly, A-Train dodging Starlight's attacks is not a light-speed feat. He is clearly reacting to where she aims her hands rather than the light moving itself. The Boys is also very grounded as superhero universes go, so light speed feats are very unlikely, especially given the effects they should have in the real world.
It would be sick if a train ends up fighting homelander in some way and they parody that scene in justice league where flash fights superman in the speed force! Such a cool scene, it would make homelander even more bad ass
the difference is that Homelander can only move that fast through flight. Meaning to match A-tains speed he has to fly forward, while A-Train can stop-and-go in an instant and has no issue changing directions at full speed

Keep in mind A-Train actually has a proper supe heart now, that's why he couldn't keep up or be faster than homelander. Compound V pushed his heart into overdrive, but it didn't regenerate it. Before, his heart was a normal heart. It was like how the new supe has a super regenerative brain, but her body is a normal person body.
My understanding is that Homelander can generate faster speed while flying in a straight line, but he isn't capable of small distance speed and fast object manipulation, like entering a moving car, or making an origami under a second. Stuff like that

If the writers wrote it that way, I would be disappointed because in most comic iterations, the speedster is a master at speed. So while a “Superman type” may be strong and fast, usually any being that is a solo master at either one would outclass the Superman type, forcing them to push themselves to meet that challenge. It’s good balance overall. They could write it where a-train has been holding back because he knew that Homelander would consider him a threat.
The point of the show is that Homelander IS OP. No supe comes close to him which is why he is so lazy and full of himself.And why butcher feels the need to take him down at any cost.

Only going by the show, but A train is able to things like open doors while traveling in speed. He blew through a body without taking any damage himself while in speed. Also when he moves we don't see him till he stops, Homelander is seen when traveling most of the time. I think he maybe faster but limited to his normal sup reaction time. Like in season one when he was searching for Translucent he was easily seen in the sky. I don't think A train could win but Homelander won't be able to catch him.

You're wrong about A-Train's speed.
During his training we see him run around a running track in 1 second, and even less. And considering running track are standardized at 400 meters, which would put him at more than 900 mph and his brother said he was off. So his top speed is very probably in excess of 1000 mph like it was said right before his race. Which is 444.44 m/s or Mach 1.3.
That's nowhere nearly Homelander's Mach 2 to Mach 4, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be precise.
I always felt like that scene of Homelander being fast enough to save Butcher was a case of the writers straight up not realising how fast that makes him. Given that his flight speed is only about 40% faster than A-Train's amped running speed, and the two actual fights we've seen him in are way slower than either thing.
They're probably moving faster than humans, sure, but unless you also want to scale Temp-V Butcher and Hughie to being that much faster than A-Train as well, since they were fighting Homelander and not being blitz'd, I feel like it's honestly just a weird outlier.
We see A-Train fight at speed against Kimiko, and he's clearly moving faster compared to her by enough to blitz, but Homelander is moving relative to everyone else in that scene. And I just don't think temp V allows someone to move that much faster than a Supe whose whole deal is speed.
Unless season 4 has repeated speed scaling which makes that speed consistent, I personally feel iffy about actually including it in debates. Combat speed is almost always slower than travel speed.

Tbh, I do think it's not even close, if I'm not mistaken Homelander can even fly faster than A-Train, BUT Queen Maeve vs Homelander is a fight that shouldn't even have been close either, but Maeve shoved that metal rod into Homelander's ear, and then again, if I'm also not mistaken, Homelander wasn't paying attention to her the moment she did that, had she shoved it just a little deeper, Homelander could say bye-bye to his brain. It is all reliant on the plot, A-Train could actually end up putting one hell of a fight against Homelander if the writers wanted to.

A few big things are important when comparing the speed of these characters. For one, Homelander has said himself that he can get to space, meaning his maximum speed (while likely not trying very much due to how he is) is around escape velocity. This is higher than that calculation. Secondly, A-Train dodging Starlight's attacks is not a light-speed feat. He is clearly reacting to where she aims her hands rather than the light moving itself. The Boys is also very grounded as superhero universes go, so light speed feats are very unlikely, especially given the effects they should have in the real world.
