This is a prime example of why I hate powerscaling for characters like this. We have never seen Homelander or Brightburn struggle against ANYTHING. Since unlocking his powers, NOTHING could actually stop Brightburn. We never saw an upper bound to his strength. Everything he did do, he did effortlessly. And pretty much same goes for Homelander. We only see him struggle against Butcher and Soldier Boy, who were both superhumans who we also haven't seen upper limits of. Powerscaling is inherently flawed.
Basically it's just another type of "my dad can beat yours" conversation. It's biased, sometimes immature and almost always inconsistent in one way or another. But in the end, it's still kinda fun.

Brightburn is superman, like alternate reality superman. Just instead of being sent to survive after their planet dies, he was sent to conquer. Thats why at the end of Brightburn you see a lot of the other DC heros being villians.
That applies for Homelander as well but only when he goes toe to toe with someone around his level then he can take damage so I think he’d be able to hurt brightburn since they are both basically invulnerable to everything

Just wanted to clarify on the improper use of escape velocity, it only measures what speed an object needs to be propelled at from the surface of a celestial body to escape its gravitational influence without having additional forces applied to it, since homelander isn't yeeted into space but flies there at a constant speed, means gauging his speed using escape velocity is impossible. Additionally, just going into low earth orbit doesn't count for escape velocity calculations as at that distance, the earths gravitational force applied to a body is still relatively powerful
In the finale of season 2 homelander sees the entitre united states from space but then it was deleted after kripke said that it was to early for his initial.
The weapons thing is complete bs and even chronic knows it. Consistently homelander has bled and been harmed by city block level attacks, and that one statement is never actually backed up, or even really known. Plus its never actually been tested, and was most likely said to intimidate/glaze considering on what we see. Although homelander does win
Inconsistency does happen and this is complet bullshit. Characters like Rexy can tank bullets but they get pierced by syringe. Or even characters like Godzilla in Hell whi can survive Hell itself but gets pierced by a tower.

(Though all of this being said, this doesn’t change the fact Homelander still quite literally bullies Brightburn with or without nuke level feats anyway because all of the feats we do see in the comics or the tv show are still greater than anything brightburn does)

The metal most likely came from his original planet, so it can't be reproduced on earth. We haven't seen him be damaged by anything else so far. And in the end, I'm pretty sure he takes over the world. So until further information, I'd say Bright Burn is invincible to Earth weapons like homelander. And yes, you are absolutely right that Bright Burn has zero experience fighting other supes. The only way I see homelander winning this easily is to maybe fly him into the sun? Bright Burn isn't as strong nor as fast, but he is more durable. Still, I think homelander could win based on his battle experience against other supes. But Bright Burn can not be killed on earth (with what we've seen so far). Homelander will have to capture him and find a way to kill him or just fligh I'm into the sun.

The best “opposition” Brightburn had was just a small squad of police officers in what I assume is maybe Kansas (cuz Superman). And meanwhile one could make the same argument for homelander too (cuz Vought doesn’t even have a military contract before the events of the boys starts so they wouldn’t have access to military arguments or a nuke), Homelander’s still at least got some feats in both the comics and show that can make those statements at least half true such as his fight with Soldier boy and him obviously upscaling every Superhuman in the boys (well in the tv show anyway, in the comics version Black Noir is stronger than him), which is far more than I can say for Brandon. (Also the ending to brightburn doesn’t have him taking over the world. He just gets away with the murders he committed and the end credits tease that the movie takes place in the same universe as the movie Super)

On top of this an explosion is far different than punching someone due to the surface area as well as the fact the explosion is in an open area where Noir was literally being forced in the position to take the punch. 2. The escape velocity thing is just nonsense as if you can fly, congratulations you reached escape velocity. When you jump as a human irl, you reach escape velocity. Also unless I'm misunderstanding the Homelander speed feat, you don't need escape velocity to leave Earth's gravitational pull. Escape velocity assumes no extra forces acting on a body, including thrust or friction. If you apply constant thrust that's just stronger than Earth's gravitational pull, you'll eventually leave without problem, even well below escape velocity.
Being able to fly into space doesn't mean he can travel at escape velocity. If he can fly, then he could fly into space at 1 m/s if he wanted to. Escape velocity is how fast something would have to move to be able to escape the gravity of an object from the surface with no added thrust.

you can escape earths gravity at any speed. 1 mph. 20,00mph etc doesnt matter. its just that we are talking insane distances and going slowly requires a ton of fuel and time. in reality the further we get away from earth, the less fuel that is needed to propel forward. also going into space is leaving earths atmosphere. escape velocity deals with leaving earths gravitational pull

You don't need to reach escape velocity if you can fly. Escape velocity is for beating gravity, but if you already do that because you can fly then it is irrelevant. No weapon on earth can hurt Brightburn. It is literally a plot point that only the metal from his shuttle can do him any harm. Soldier Boys nuke power does not effect his hand to hand fighting power, so homelander fighting with him is not an adequate measure.

Escape velocity is a bad metric. its essentially 'how fast do i need to throw this object for it to not hit the ground again.' and so it doesnt apply to objects with their own propulsion. You can also throw something into space without being remotely near escape velocity, it will just not escape orbit and so hit the ground again. If Homelanders flight also works by the mechanic of making him weightless its also kinda pointless.
Brightburn is much faster than Homelander and much faster than he lets on for the most part. There are more than several points in the movie when he's moving fast enough to not be seen as he starts messing with people. He slows down to a speed we can see, so the sight of his body and the sounds of him flying by can further scare his victims. He is Superman but evil. That's what the whole movie is supposed to answer. Superman can blitz anyone fast enough to make the Earth stop spinning but chooses not to. Brightburn does as well. Where is the fun in blitzing everyone when slowing down scares them more
guys, this guy doesn't remember a crucial part of Brightburn: the fact that the only think to hurt the kid is the metal from the ship he came down on. this means that as long as Homelander doesn't find the ship, the battle will go on almost forever, until they give up.

I agree with the fact that homeland would win, but I have one small correction. Just because he can fly to space doesn't mean he reached escape velocity. Any character that can fly could theoretically reach space by flying 1 mph for long enough, because they don't have to work against gravity. I have no doubt that he COULD reach escape velocity, but not because he's able to fly to space.
Homelander is underrated imo. Almost anyone he's pitted against is thought to be stronger and I'm not even sure why. For example a rocket has a limited fuel supply so they must reach escape velocity so they dont have to waste more fuel. But homelander could theoretically fly at like any speed and as long as he keeps going up he would reach space. He doesn't really have a fuel supply to worry about so as long as he keeps going up he will eventually reach space.

I don’t want to sound like a technical nerd, but Brightburn can only be hurt by the material from his home planet. Meaning that he’s (not totally) invincible toward earth weaponry. Though, in terms of strength based on his current age, he is much weaker than Homelander. Though, if (and it’s a huge if) he is able to get stronger as he ages into his adult body, he might surpass Homelander. But that’s very much unclear if he does, since the movie doesn’t really clarify what his adult kind are like.
Your point about Homelander’s speed doesn’t make sense (I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your verdict for the fight, I’m saying that you don’t understand how escape velocity works). You can fly into space at any speed you want, as long as you can maintain sustained flight, even if you go up at 5 mph you would eventually reach space. Escape velocity is the speed at which you’d need to throw an object from the ground in order for it to reach space (in this case, you’d need to throw a ball at Mach 33 in order for it reach space). This has nothing to do with how fast you’d have to fly, as it doesn’t apply to things that are self-propelled and can maintain their speed (as a matter of fact, Saturn V was flying at Mach 20, so by your logic it wouldn’t reach into space)

That's not an issue with Homelander, that's an issue with a shoddily written comic in which the crowbar randomly becomes stronger than any substance known to human beings. It's for all intents and purposes a magic crowbar that can kill anyone.
Just wanted to clarify on the improper use of escape velocity, it only measures what speed an object needs to be propelled at from the surface of a celestial body to escape its gravitational influence without having additional forces applied to it, since homelander isn't yeeted into space but flies there at a constant speed, means gauging his speed using escape velocity is impossible. Additionally, just going into low earth orbit doesn't count for escape velocity calculations as at that distance, the earths gravitational force applied to a body is still relatively powerful

The weapons thing is complete bs and even chronic knows it. Consistently homelander has bled and been harmed by city block level attacks, and that one statement is never actually backed up, or even really known. Plus its never actually been tested, and was most likely said to intimidate/glaze considering on what we see. Although homelander does win

(Though all of this being said, this doesn’t change the fact Homelander still quite literally bullies Brightburn with or without nuke level feats anyway because all of the feats we do see in the comics or the tv show are still greater than anything brightburn does)

@@ThrilledHalo There’s really no evidence to suggest that Brightburn is immune to military level armaments or nukes. The best “opposition” Brightburn had was just a small squad of police officers in what I assume is maybe Kansas (cuz Superman).
And meanwhile one could make the same argument for homelander too (cuz Vought doesn’t even have a military contract before the events of the boys starts so they wouldn’t have access to military arguments or a nuke), Homelander’s still at least got some feats in both the comics and show that can make those statements at least half true such as his fight with Soldier boy and him obviously upscaling every Superhuman in the boys (well in the tv show anyway, in the comics version Black Noir is stronger than him), which is far more than I can say for Brandon.
(Also the ending to brightburn doesn’t have him taking over the world. He just gets away with the murders he committed and the end credits tease that the movie takes place in the same universe as the movie Super)

Also unless I'm misunderstanding the Homelander speed feat, you don't need escape velocity to leave Earth's gravitational pull. Escape velocity assumes no extra forces acting on a body, including thrust or friction. If you apply constant thrust that's just stronger than Earth's gravitational pull, you'll eventually leave without problem, even well below escape velocity.
Being able to fly into space doesn't mean he can travel at escape velocity. If he can fly, then he could fly into space at 1 m/s if he wanted to. Escape velocity is how fast something would have to move to be able to escape the gravity of an object from the surface with no added thrust.

you can escape earths gravity at any speed. 1 mph. 20,00mph etc doesnt matter. its just that we are talking insane distances and going slowly requires a ton of fuel and time. in reality the further we get away from earth, the less fuel that is needed to propel forward.

Escape velocity is a bad metric. its essentially 'how fast do i need to throw this object for it to not hit the ground again.' and so it doesnt apply to objects with their own propulsion. You can also throw something into space without being remotely near escape velocity, it will just not escape orbit and so hit the ground again. If Homelanders flight also works by the mechanic of making him weightless its also kinda pointless.

Brightburn is much faster than Homelander and much faster than he lets on for the most part. There are more than several points in the movie when he's moving fast enough to not be seen as he starts messing with people. He slows down to a speed we can see, so the sight of his body and the sounds of him flying by can further scare his victims. He is Superman but evil. That's what the whole movie is supposed to answer. Superman can blitz anyone fast enough to make the Earth stop spinning but chooses not to. Brightburn does as well. Where is the fun in blitzing everyone when slowing down scares them more

Escape velocity is the speed you need to reach to get into space if you have limited acceleration. For example a rocket has a limited fuel supply so they must reach escape velocity so they dont have to waste more fuel.
But homelander could theoretically fly at like any speed and as long as he keeps going up he would reach space. He doesn't really have a fuel supply to worry about so as long as he keeps going up he will eventually reach space.

I don’t want to sound like a technical nerd, but Brightburn can only be hurt by the material from his home planet. Meaning that he’s (not totally) invincible toward earth weaponry. Though, in terms of strength based on his current age, he is much weaker than Homelander. Though, if (and it’s a huge if) he is able to get stronger as he ages into his adult body, he might surpass Homelander. But that’s very much unclear if he does, since the movie doesn’t really clarify what his adult kind are like.

Your point about Homelander’s speed doesn’t make sense (I’m not agreeing or disagreeing with your verdict for the fight, I’m saying that you don’t understand how escape velocity works).
You can fly into space at any speed you want, as long as you can maintain sustained flight, even if you go up at 5 mph you would eventually reach space. Escape velocity is the speed at which you’d need to throw an object from the ground in order for it to reach space (in this case, you’d need to throw a ball at Mach 33 in order for it reach space). This has nothing to do with how fast you’d have to fly, as it doesn’t apply to things that are self-propelled and can maintain their speed (as a matter of fact, Saturn V was flying at Mach 20, so by your logic it wouldn’t reach into space)
