Very helpful video, definitely eased a little anxiety about finishing this tomorrow, but the fuel mixture screw has me thrown off a bit. Are you able to adjust it when the carb is back on the bike? And does the old one just screw out?
So i am looking to get one of these kits does anyone know if i would need to replace the needle. Or can i just keep the one thats in it and just put the jets in
If youre just doing a carb rebuild then you should be fine with the stock needle. Of course you should always inspect parts before reinstalling them. But if you are doing a performance rebuild aka putting bigger jets in, you will need to use the needle that comes with the kit you buy
No it wasnt and you can actually do the whole thing with the carb still in the bike. Just loosen the clamps and turn it to access the float bowl or the top of it.
You dont have to but it's a good idea to upgrade the exhaust. The kit comes with instructions for if you have a stock or after market exhaust. If you do the 3x3 mod though you should consider an aftermarket exhaust to fo with it. More air in means more air out and you'll have a lot better performance if you upgrade the exhaust to go with the 3x3 mod
@@brianmay9829 ok. I was just wondering because originally I did the 3x3 mod and a slip on exhaust, 160 main and 25 pilot (im well below 4000’) And it really opened the bike up. Then last week I installed a full MRD exhaust so today I swapped out the main jet with the 170 like it says in the instructions and I have to say that I noticed no difference from the 160. Just in case any of your viewers are in the same situation. Thanks for your response
@@outlaw9728 Thank you for asking this question, I have a full yoshi exhaust on mine, but the previous owner never jetted the carb or cut the hole so I was wondering the same thing. Sounds like I will be sticking with the 160 as well when I do mine!
Very clear and detailed explanation for installing the JD jet kit. Best I’ve seen. Thanks.
Thanks bud. You made the jd jet kit install ez. The only hard part was wiggling the carb in and out of the bike.
Worth it, bike rides so much better. Glad I could help
Great video. Made it easy peezy. Lots of these videos on RUclips but yours is the one I used when I went to do my jetting.
Hell yeah, hopefully I'll take the time to do more videos someday haha. I get sucked into my work and forget to pull a camera out most of the time
This was really great and no nonsense! It helped me.
Glad to hear it
Good looking out in the video
Really well done thanks!
Glad I could help
Is the 4th clip position counting up from the blue side of the needle ?
It didn't really specify in the paper I had but thats what I assumed and the position worked for me

Yeah if you get the extended screw adjusting it is super easy and yeah the old one just screws out

Super good vid. Was it hard to get the carb out?

Do you have to get an aftermarket exhaust? Will the JD out and 3x3 mod be good just with the stock exhaust? I have a 2015 DRZ

Sorry for the late reply man
@@brianmay9829 no prob bro.
Did you stay with the 160 main jet or did you go to the 170 after the MRD exhaust install?
I stayed with the setup from this video after the exhaust swap and it ran well all summer for me
