This guy is a great and under-rated actor in my opinion. He needs more opportunities in Hollywood. He also seems like a really cool guy, you know, just in general.
Honestly, Julian McMahon did a really good job with what he was given. And I LOVE his costume in the movie! I love how the costume designers were making a more realistic looking costume, yet when you look at him, you can still tell it's Dr. Doom. He just looks badass!

In the beginning Julian tries to remember some comic facts about the character, but he's clearly having troubles with it, and then in the next shot he's with Stan Lee and he's like: "Hey, what's this dude's deal in the comics?" That kinda cracked me up)) As for the actual performance, I agree with most of the comments here - Julian did the best he could with the script which was faaaar from perfect, or even that good. But Doom at least...you know...did something here, tried to split the Four. Yeah, Julian wasn't that tall or strongly built, but I could totally dig this interpretation of the character, if the writing was good. Meanwhile, Doom from the 2015s version only had one badass hallway scene. Aside from that he was waaay too cliched, even more that Julian's version. And all he did to the Four was....throwing a couple of rocks at them...rocks, yup, that should do it, DOOM, not exploding their heads (which you did in the previous scene with random guards), but rocks. Man, that just sucked. However, Toby Kebbel was also capable of giving a great performance. But Doom was given even less screentime than in the old movie. It was extremely rushed and lackluster, while the old one had at least something decent (well, in my opinion).

Julian is a great actor with a lot of charisma, but for me his voice just didn't sound right for Doom....too clean, too youthful, with not enough dark gravitas. The outfit and mask looked good though, especially in the sequel.
100% Agreed. He might make an interesting Lex Luthor, Gordon Godfrey, or something. He cannot fight convincingly. But Julian can use words as a weapon.
in order for Doom to be properly represented the actor performing needs to have a commanding presence both physically(at least 6'2--6'3 with a strong build) as well as personally. grandiose, strong, steel willed. so large that he overshadows all else on screen. McMahon and the writers did not pull it off.
