When the door is answered, it is the sheriff showing up to Thanksgiving (the POV was that of the sheriff's - the actual killer.)

I really hope we will get the sequel, maybe even the trilogy, because it's giving major scream vibes- the main girl, the friend group, the investigation who's the killer, the occasion to kill people every year (Thanksgiving ofc). And the fact that from the main friend group survived only Jessica, Gabby and the other guy just like Sid, Gale and Dewey. There's a potential for a very good film series
Man, that scene in the beginning where the shoppers just don’t care and go crazy, is so funny and horrifyingly relatable to me as a customer service worker. It makes me feel so uncomfortable

Im not usually someone who gets disturbed by deaths in horror movies, especially slasher ones. But damn! A lot of these deaths had me look away a few times. The one that grossed me out the most was the wife who was cooked alive and almost served to her husband! Like this was still a great movie, but good God 🤢🤮

Her name is Nell Verlaque and she has those cute deer like captivating eyes but has a presence about her that has to exist organically, so I could see her having a great career. I'm glad Thanksgiving finally became a movie since its trailer was one of my favorite parts of Grindhouse and the making of that trailer as detailed in the Grindhouse companion book was hilarious. (btw, the trailer was filmed in Prague right after Eli Roth filmed Hostel: Part 2.)

Machete (2010), Hobo with a Shotgun (2011) and this movie were later made into full-length feature films. As of 2024, only "Don't" and "Werewolf Women of the SS" have not yet been made.

what I love about this movie is that even after 50+ years there are still creative kills, or taking old ones in new ways. THe first kill alone, the freezer door, then the bin.
I knew it was Dempsey very early. When Jessica was talking with both the boyfriends outside the police station Dempsey comes out at 20:30-20:40 they pan out to a statue of John Carvers face. Also based on his height lol and just the way he was moving. The way he was killing the first woman, his mannerisms, I immediately just was like that’s Patrick. 😂
I rememeber his character talking about him being "a single man who knows how to cook" and then it click it was him when he was cooking Kathleen (I think her name was that, the main girl's step-mom).
Hey Greg and Roxy, great movie and reaction, reminded me of a Horror/ comedy I don't think you seen/reacted to (Behind the Mask: the story of Leslie Vernon). When you said the killer charges after people it reminded me of that gem, it's a tribute to all slashers, old and new😊
I love how legitimately horrifying the Back Friday sequence is. It feels scary real. Kinda don't like that he was laughing throughout it, but everyone reacts different.
Kathleen (the stepmom) is played by Karen Cliche. She was also in Saw VI during the Shotgun Carousel trap. I enjoyed her performances in that film and this one, and I think she’s a total babe ❤️🔥 Hope to see more of her in the future!
I honestly think you have to suspend your disbelief when they reveal who the killer is. Cuz there are so many scenes in the movie where you were like how did they get over here so fast dressed as John Carver when two minutes ago they were over here in regular clothes. I firmly believe that there were two killers. I'm happy that it got greenlit for a sequel. I'm dying to revisit the world of John Carver.

Eli Roth planned a franchise for Thanksgiving, so not all the answers are in this film. A loose end, for example, is when the new police officer (Bret Labelle) is introduced to the detective (Peter Chu) by the sheriff (Eric Newlon) and we see that there is a disagreement between the two that is not mentioned again. As Eric is revealed as the killer, Labelle will probably be the police officer we follow from now on. This story between him and Detective Chu will come to light in the sequel. That said, there is a theory that there was another killer with Eric, but it wasn't revealed in this film. That killer would be Ryan, and this theory is strong because the actor who plays Ryan was wearing the clown costume in the parade scene.
I love this roll for Patrick especially because I am almost certain him and Neve are coming back in Scream 7 🤷♀️ at least that’s the direction they want it to go! I’m here for it.

This movie has some "My Bloody Valentine 1981" vibes. The Big Connection there's the dude that went away then comes back and his Girlfriend is in a new Relationship and they fight over her. Also it's a small town where a tragedy happened. Plus THIS movie was partly filmed in CANADA and some of the landscapes in THIS movie have a bit of the same look/feel in MBV1981...
I agree going back and watching the movie and KNOWING who John Carver is I tried to look for points in where in the timeline we'd have him make sense but it lost me COMPLETELY after the post parade massacre and how it only make sense is if that dinner was pre recorded otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Thay character to be viewing the life stream, being masked at the dinner and then sometime after trying to dump and frame one of the boyfriends- THATS where it lost me. As for the David Schwimmer looking guy I just don't think he added ANYTHING to the story but that's just me.
There is a sequal in the works but I have no idea what the story will be. Patrick being the killer was unexoepected because I also didn't expect him to play the killer seeing how in Scream 3 he was a suspect but not the killer haha. any way I do like this movie because of all the horror movie nods as it were that they have here and also because of how original the kills are as well. He got away as a fireman that is why they focosed on that one shot and that is like in the My Bloody Valantine remake but never mind.
Ironic how the only real actor I knew was Dempsey since Im a big Grey's fan and he ends up being the killer lol But I've been watching Suits not long after I saw this in theaters, and it's already in my top 10 favorite shows. Love Louis so much 😅

This movie has some "My Bloody Valentine 1981" vibes. The Big Connection there's the dude that went away then comes back and his Girlfriend is in a new Relationship and they fight over her. Also it's a small town where a tragedy happened. Plus THIS movie was partly filmed in CANADA and some of the landscapes in THIS movie have a bit of the same look/feel in MBV1981...
I agree going back and watching the movie and KNOWING who John Carver is I tried to look for points in where in the timeline we'd have him make sense but it lost me COMPLETELY after the post parade massacre and how it only make sense is if that dinner was pre recorded otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Thay character to be viewing the life stream, being masked at the dinner and then sometime after trying to dump and frame one of the boyfriends- THATS where it lost me.
As for the David Schwimmer looking guy I just don't think he added ANYTHING to the story but that's just me.

The killer was obvious early on, but I still enjoyed this movie. There's a lot of potential for sequels.

There is a sequal in the works but I have no idea what the story will be. Patrick being the killer was unexoepected because I also didn't expect him to play the killer seeing how in Scream 3 he was a suspect but not the killer haha. any way I do like this movie because of all the horror movie nods as it were that they have here and also because of how original the kills are as well. He got away as a fireman that is why they focosed on that one shot and that is like in the My Bloody Valantine remake but never mind.

there’s no way it was just one killer, I’m still convinced it’s her boyfriend as well, he wasn’t even seen until the end like what but then what are his motives 😭 also would have liked to see her dad and her friend after they survived in the end, still loved this movie!
