This was my very first looping roller coaster. First rode it in 1994. I was so scared but by the time I got off of this one, I hopped straight in line for Viper.
We've really come a long way in roller coaster design since then. Seems like you get a little break between every element here compared to modern coasters' relentless pace. Super cool they've kept this running for so long
@ThomasBlithe Yes, agree. It will be 50 years old in 2026, and still rides surprisingly well. The loop is also really intense. You can't beat Schwarzkopf loops 🙂
I rode Revolution for the 1st time in October of 1978, right after I graduated from Marine Corps Bootcamp. Back then The Coaster had a 5 Train Operation, and there were NO LAME TRIM BRAKES before The Loop and after The Tunnel. The speed going into and out of The Final Helix was Absolutely Awesome. Unfortunately Revolution is just a Shell from what it used to be. BTW, That's why The Transfer Track Train Storage Area is so large because of The 5 Train Operation it once had.
Wow, that must have been awesome. It rides better now than it did 10 years ago. The trims used to bring the train to a standstill before the loop. The added OSRs were also terrible, glad to see they're now gone and it's back to the original lap bar restraint.
@@XtremeCoasters I don't know why the park added those awful OTSR'S in 1992. Some stupid rumor that it was a California State Law. If that was the case, then why didn't The Train on Montezooma's Revenge at Knott's get OTSR'S? The only thing that were added to The Train was Seatbelts. But it's funny after the premiere of Twisted Colossus in 2015, and Revolution closed for a renovation, Then reopening in 2016, The OTSR'S all of the sudden disappeared especially when TC Inverter riders 2X. So much for that So-Called State Law!!🤣 But I'm thankful that Revolution is still in operation to this day. I just remember how it used to be. Also, The best version of The Colossus I rode was when The Coaster operated with The Single Buzzer Lap Bar PTC Trains, AKA Screemy Meemy Version in National Lampoon's Vacation. You know how much Coaster Enthusiasts are Always Praising about The Trains with The Single Buzzer Lap Bars? Well let me tell you. Riding Colossus with those Trains was Pure Airtime Nirvana!! I'll be honest with you, I'm not a fan of Twisted Colossucks. I rode Colossus also in 1978, and during the time when The Park added Those Devilish Fiberglass Morgan Trains, and covered the double down with that Lame Block Brake. The park should have worked hard to preserve The PTC Train version.🎢🎢🖤❤️
@ellexking9136 The first time we rode Colossus was in 2006. It had already been totally butchered by that point and was pretty underwhelming. Which is a shame, as both Colossus and Revolution were both coasters we wanted to ride since being kids, thanks in part to National Lampoon's and the Rollercoaster Movie. While Twisted Colossus is the weakest of all the RMC coasters we've ridden, it's better than the state Colossus was in when we rode. It was trimmed so badly that it barely made it through the turnaround sections.
Correct, but this higher, faster and longer. It was also built first, opening in 1976. Sooperdooperlooper opened a year later in 1977. But both coasters were manufactured by Schwarzkopf, that's why they look so similar :)
@soly-dp-colo6388 😂 It did open in 1976, so isn't doing too bad. It rides like new with the new trains and lap bars, they did a really good job with the refurbishment.
Not the biggest, fastest or scariest, but 100% classic, and always a must ride when visiting the Mountain!
Absolutely!
Revolution was my 1st ever attraction as a ride ops in 94. I always love this ride!
Nice POV, brings back memories. 10 year old me was sort of sad that there was only one loop :)
Sounds like you've been a thrill seeker from birth, much like us :-)

@bloodtypexneg Awesome! Thankfully, the horrid OSRs from 94 are now gone, and it's back to lapbars 🙂

1st ever ride on this was a walk on front row ride, just back in April.
@stuartblankenship5336 That's lucky! What did you think of it? We love it, it doesn't feel like it's approaching its 50th Anniversary.
It’s the Classic Revolution.
It sure is 🙂
It’s great the way the trees have grown up around it.
Agree, it makes for an amazing ride 🙂
I miss the old days when the third drop was covered by trees. Night rides used to be so awesome.
They still are awesome 🙂
Great video did u get one last ride on kinda-ka at six flags great adventure theme park before it closed forever
@michaellittlejohns7968 Thanks 🙂 Unfortunately not, really sad to see Ka go, bit hopefully, they will build a worthy successor in it's place.
The trees have grown up around it so beautifully.
@@williamhanna4823 Yes, they have. Speeding through the trees makes it feel so much faster 🙂
❤ W vid again (RIP King Da Ka😢) ❤

It’s just like the sooper dooper looper at Hershey park

Lovley setting I love the rickety ones fast ❤️😊👍🏻
@@crystaldance5731 It uses the terrain amazingly well 🙂
It kind of looks like an "old revolution" now. I've never seen so many tyres on a track.
