Viper is a testament to the excellence of Magic Mountain. It is a thrilling and fairly intense coaster that could easily be the showcase attraction at many parks. At Magic Mountain it is a 30+ year old third tier ride that is a good warmup or plan B ride when the park gets too crowded.
Agree, this never gets a really long line, typically 10-20 minutes is the longest we've seen. The new Revolution is also close by, and while that gets a slightly longer line, they are both perfectly positioned not too far from the front of the park to ease the crowd on busier days.
I remember back in the 90s when I lived in Cali (I left right after riddles revenge was made and got to enjoy before moving) viper line was at least 30 mins
@@XtremeCoasters Oh dear, you're one of those people that thinks it's the responsibility of the guest to "learn" how to ride each roller coaster. That's asinine.
@alexdaley7616 Not at all. Of course it's far better if a coaster is smooth and re-ridable from the offset. This was, however, built in 1989 without the aid of computers and track technology we have today. Arrow coasters have never been the smoothest, you can however make the most out of them and even find them enjoyable once you get used to their little quirks.
I haven't ridden this since the early 2000s, and I know these days compared to the crazy things coasters do this one is pretty tame by comparison, but god dammit I love this ride and layout. It was so mind blowing when it first came out, especially that first drop and high loop. I can't even begin to tell you the number of times I sketched this coaster out on paper, or built it in various video games like Disney's Coaster and RCT1/2. A true classic.
@@XtremeCoasters I mostly ride them vicariously through videos these days and the way coasters have evolved in the last 10-15 years just blows my mind. Always seems like they are doing way crazier stuff now than the old school Arrow loopers I grew up with, good to hear Viper still packs a punch compared to the new kids on the block.
Haven’t ridden this in about ten years but I remember lines being super short for it back in 2014. And it’s a great coaster! I sure hope they don’t replace it. Maybe an update could be cool but don’t get rid of it please.
This coaster deserves a retrack. It's the last of its kind. Sadly I'm on the east coast and won't have a chance to ride this classic. If I win the lottery I will deffinatly buy it and relocate it to Ohio. Have vekoma fix some of the bad transitions.
I don’t care what people say, for it’s time I bet this drop was terrifying, along with all the inversions in a row lol and they put a new lift chain in! I know it was closed for a bit, that was probably why.
For teenage me in the 90s, this ride was utterly terrifying to approach the first time, though once you went on it once the nerves waned and the addictive thrills rose. That first drop was something else back then.

They better not replace this coaster. I love the batwing inversion.
@@gissneric Let's hope not. It's the only one left of its kind now 😟
I went on this ride yesterday, probably never again cause now I have serious neck pain
@@SlyShiningOfficial Oh dear, it's one you need to learn to ride. We didn't have any pain at all.

There is nothing tame about this coaster. It's extremely intense, probably more so than a lot of today's coasters 🙂

Thanks for this POV now I can ride Viper without having to ride Viper
@@garrettblack Thanks for watching 🙂
Great video

Classic!
Agree 🙂
Fun fact: The roller coaster scene in the film 'True Romance' (1993) is none other than Viper.
Really? Never seen it, but will give it a watch. Viper would have been pretty much brand new when that was filmed!
Reminds me of The Ninja at Six Flags Over Ga. It was painful. I don’t remember if it’s still there. Thanks for the post!
@reneecampos2978 Yes, it's still there. It's called Blue Hawk now, though. Thankfully, these rides better than what Ninja did 😂

@andrewkukawski5477 Hopefully, it will be running for many years to come. It's sadly the last of its kind now.
Very underrated coaster. I’d love if it could get the same refurb that Ninja in Georgia got, new trains and all.

Sadly Viper is the last Arrow mega looper/7 inversion still operating *i could be wrong*

I always think of the movie Encino man with this one😂

It's rough
@VelocicoasterFanboy 😂 It's a classic. I hope they don't remove it, it's the last of it's kind still standing.
Looks like it's still a head-banger, and not in the fun way :)
Thanks for the super clean POV.
@CubbyTech 😂 It's a bone shaker for sure, but it's a classic, so we still love it!
Viper seems rougher at times, smoother other times. I can't explain why.
@bobbyricigliano2799 Guess it depends on where you sit, and your positioning in the seat. Sit at the wrong angle, those OSRs are going to beat you up.
