    Wow he did a whole lot less cussing than me lol, boy lining up those transmission lines was so much fun lol. It wasn't easy but the satisfaction you feel when you turn your truck on and drive off is second to none!, shout out to my pops!! for helping it would have probably taken me a week to get it on by myself. Bit of advise if you have a hard time lining it up bring it down take a breather and start the installation over from the beginning.

    Always always make sure the converter is all the way before bolting it up so you don't damage the pump. My friend is a tranny builder and he's had to redo a bunch of trannys that he's built cause some people put them in themselves and don't make sure it's all the way in. They have extensions that are real long specifically for tranny work for the bell bolts also when I do the converter bolts or nuts I do one then go 180 from that one then do it then the other 2

    Hey I hope you can get to my comment but I have a 95 f150 with a 5.8 and an e40od trans. I’m putting another 5.8 back into the truck. I’m just confused now because on the left side looking from the front of the engine there looks to be two alignment dowels one in the trans and one in the bell housing. I don’t believe that is normal just let me know your opinion about it and or how to get the one out of the trans.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  28 дней назад

      If I remember correctly, there should be an alignment down in the back of the engine and an alignment dowel in the Bell housing of the transmission and they are opposite each other. Are you saying there are two alignment dowels on the same side which is making it impossible to fit them together? I’ve never removed an alignment dowel. But I’m sure there’s a way to get them out.

  • @RedLightJhunkie
    @RedLightJhunkie Год назад +1

    Does the torque converter push back enough to allow the ability to line up the bolts separately from the dowel pins when you install the transmission or do you have line up the dowel pins torque converter bolts all at one time when you install it

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  Год назад +1

      They have to be lined up at the same time. It sounds more difficult than it is. The dowel pins will start to line up and insert sooner than the torque converter studs, but not by much.

    Great video! I'm trying to avoid replacing my transmission. The past two days it's been clunking when decelerating from 2nd to 1st coming to a complete stop. It's clunking/bucking pretty hard and I don't want it to get worse. Trans is a Jasper remanufactured w/40k miles and the rear end is remanufactured with 1,500 miles and the u-joints have 10,000 miles on them and the engine has 40k on it, remanufactured. I seem to have a wet area near the back of the transmission near the driveshaft where they mate. I think it's trans fluid but my fluid is full. Is this related or two separate issues? Why would my kinda new transmission be leaking? And from where? How would I replace that rear seal around where the driveshaft goes into the transmission? The clunking seems to be coming from the rear, but maybe I'm wrong. It's not really a loud noise, just a hard jerk. Pretty much only when I brake slowly, not nearly as much when I brake quickly. I don't know what all to check considering everything is supposed to be new and new-ish

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  2 года назад +1

      Thanks man! Transmissions are tricky. They require lots of diagnosing to figure out their issues but even then it’s not 100%. I like to start with the cheap fixes first. Chalk your front wheels, jack up the entire rear end so both wheels are off the ground, put your truck in neutral, and then go in spin one of the tires. i’m wondering if you will hear that clunk noise.

BTW I love the obs ford build, OBS fords are the best-looking 90's truck. I have an 89 brick nose which is a close runner up but the front end of the OBS looks so much better. • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  Год назад

      First and foremost, make sure that your fluid is in good condition and that it’s at the proper level when at operating temperature with the engine on.
      You can buy a transmission pressure gauge and screw it into the test port on the drivers side of the transmission. Then you can check the pressure needed to shift gears.

    • @TheMinuteMasters
      @TheMinuteMasters  Год назад

      Really? Do you think everything is seated properly? Is the torque converter itself properly seated inside the transmission bell housing? If the crank is just plain hard to turn, a lot of people suggest pulling spark plugs so that the pistons have an easier time compressing.

    • @andrewlyle4618
      @andrewlyle4618 Год назад +1

      I’m starting to think the torque converter isn’t seated properly in the Bell housing. The engine turned over just fine when I removed it. it’s so stuck that it started to loosen the bolt to the pulley on the crankshaft. But I can’t believe I got Two bolts on the torque converter on and it’s still not seated correctly so I don’t know.
