My favorite ambient producer making my favorite genre of music? This is going to be awesome to listen to!
at 61 I just started playing with with the ambient form and you are my go-to source for inspiration.
Very nice workflow my friend well done thank you for sharing your project progress with us like 13 !!!
You amaze me every time, this is so cool!!!!!😎
Oh my word! This was insane haha! It was already sounding so good and then you wacked out the Jan Hammer lead at the end as the cherry on top. Class stuff as always!
Great work, please keep the synthwave coming, can't get enough of it!
More is coming :)
Thanks for the new album, Alpha I - loving the exploration of more instrumental sounds, and the extra attention to detail at lower frequencies (sounds incredible with a subwoofer)
Thanks so much!
bitwig is the best
how lovely is that
Diva is going strong in this track 🎚🔉
Awesome stuff. I love those Jan-Hammer-Vibes. City Limits Vol. 2, I hear you knocking.
Scratch it up, let's hear it. 😎
Perfecto!!🎉
loving this warts and all approach
The guitar/lead is awesome.
This is a serene and wonderful C.D. track.
조용하고 멋진 CD 트랙입니다.
Thanks for this. I really like this genre, especially for working out, but a lot of the music is made by relative novices. Having someone with your level of experience brings it up several notches.
I think you're right that it's probably a lot of novices, or at least amateur and young producers, at least that's my perception for much of the indie synthwave stuff I've listened to, but I think that's part of the charm and what makes it work. I don't consider myself very good at this genre at all, and a lot of what I've attempted has gone into the trash, but I'm getting better by studying and listening to other synthwave arists (particularly The Midnight, ELFL, Gunship etc), Actually I think it was thanks to me studying a tutorial by The Midnight on Sonic Academy that really helped me improve and come up with this track. I still think I suck at this genre, but I also really like it and will continue to get better at it, I hope!
@@stateazure agreed - the amateur aspect lends a lot of charm to the genre, and can give it a sort of minimalistic feel which I like. If there are too many layers i can get lost. Personally I gravitate towards the songs with a catchy repeating melody backed by a driving bass, with limited if any percussion. "Desire" by College is a great example.
stunninng, synth power at its best...goosegumps...
Thanks, Igor!
Is the final track available to listen to? Very nice reminds me of good old times. But more deep analysis and critical reflection now: I loved really much the altered, enhanced, intro sounds before the rhythm track. What I recognised and realised is (I'm sure you are aware of this too) that drums make the delicate electronic sound patterns drown and suffocate in the loud drum rhythm track. I'm not sure if this could be avoided, by lowering the volume of the rhythm track?
There's no release version yet, and only has very rudimentary mixing levels, since the focus was purely a creative one in developing the majority of the track in a short period of time. I'll re-visit it at some point and include it on a synthwave based release in the future. I'm not sure about the drum levels, it could very well be they'll get reduced in the final version. This what you hear here is VERY rough, and without mix or mastering, or any structure, many more hours would go into this before it is release ready
U-He is the best
I love feeling like it’s the 80s again.
That Jan Hammer lead guitar Omnisphere patch is just too good man! Would be awesome to know how to create that.
Thanks! It's quite a basic patch, most of the sound is really Guitar Rig Pro 6 or Rockman FX (I forget the actual name, but I think it's based on the same distortion Jan Hammer actually used)
I've had to pause the video to ask where that SolarRain - LotR Bass Pad1 is from at 16:20 is from please? Google doesn't help me. It sounds awesome.
I'm not at the end of the video yet so can't say much other than so far, so damn good!
Hi. That's a custom patch I made in Omnisphere, that I used on my track/cover Love on a Real Train :)
I am in love. 😍😍😍
Fantastic music !
Reminds me of Mitch Murder, very nice
Not only a great track but this was also pretty much a masterclass in using the Clip Launcher, which is something I've mostly avoided until now because I've been working on more structurally-complex forms. I've been planning to make some Synthwave myself, so thank you very much for sharing your workflow, it's really helpful.
By the way, is that drum kit your own selection of different sounds, or did you get it as a package from somewhere? Just curious. I always find drum sounds very hard to get right.
Thank you, glad you found it insightful! I use the clip/scenes quite a lot, but for more structured stuff the arranger is probably better and I'm starting to use that a bit more often again lately, though it's fun to use a combination - clips to build the layers/parts really fast then record them to the arrangement view and do more complex stuff there. I don't remember where I got all my drums from, some are from classic emulator banks, others are from sample packs like Neon 80s - Zenhiser. I then collect a bunch of my favourites and created Drum Machine presets with them ready loaded with my favourites spready across the keys and ready to improvise with.
@@stateazure Hey thanks for the helpful reply, I really appreciate it! I'll go on a hunt for sample packs I think... need to spend some time on building presets :)
@@stateazure Hi, just dropped in to say thanks again! This video inspired me, I made a synthwave track, and it became the final one on a four-track album that I released on Friday on Bandcamp. Without you, that might not have happened. Thank you for everything you do :)
Awesome!
More 🙏
27:27 was that planned? gorgeous
Nothing was planned!
Are we to expect a perfect distillation of the livestream?
Do you mean a release of this track?
❤❤❤
Noice.
Opion Question: best mellotron plug in?
I'm not sure, but the Mellotron V by Arturia is nice.
