This guy is by far the best at explaining exactly what the tool does and he seems like he's probably one of those cool guys to work with and to talk with about mechanical stuff... we need a lot more Danny's in the world.
This guy dropped more golden nuggets of "been there, done that" wisdom than I think I've ever heard in one video / one place. Solid gold props. Also, really appreciated that you let him fully explain at his own pace w/o overloading with questions. Excellent, both of you.
Love how he gave specific examples of where he uses so many of his tools. His experience really shines through. I’ll bet a lot of the other techs learn from him
This man knows his stuff. Love all the homemade tools. Astro Pneumatic makes a mid length impact swivel socket set too. Pinless, without the bulky collar and only sixty bucks or so.
That homemade quick disconnect heater core hose tool is genius. Such a tight fit back there and looks like it’s just durable enough for that job while still being flexible enough to get in there.
This is why I love watching these videos, was taking some DEF lines off today and was thinking "Man there must be a tool to make this easier" cause after the 3rd try and fail taking those little clips off they really start to dig into your fingers.
I love this channel. It gives me so many ideas or shows stuff i didnt know about and might want. But also the topic of having your stuff stolen. Thats something i never really thought about.
Anyone that still uses Ingersoll Rand, I take very seriously as a tech. Such a great setup. BTW - Sunex has deep universal sockets, aka wobblies, lol. I have them. I'm super happy with them. Thanks for the video 👍
@ToolBoxTour Ah, yeah. Sunex unfortunately only has them in 3/8 and 1/2. Don't know why that's a rare set. If anything, I would need universals more in smaller/tighter applications.
Most of my Gray Pneumatic wobble sockets have lasted 10+ years with daily use, I broke the 1/2 16mm twice. I love seeing tools others have made for special purposes.
I know the tool he is talking about with the gm heater hoses for the heater cores. His idea is perfect for that, I struggled more than I care to admit when I did one of those for the first time. I have never seen the actual tool on the trucks unless someone ordered one.
Lol I love Dave, I work in an automotive machine shop too, but the equipment and machines Dave has is on another level. Would love to work there for a while, like that new wet abrasive blast cabinet they got I would love to have at my shop
27:12 typicaly is a lineman socket. I start by buying a large 1/2" drive one and I'll mill it out to fit onto bessey clamps. That way when you dont want to ruin your shoulders and wrists you can use an impact to drive whatever with your impact and not your body.
I don’t remember what car show it was but they were working brand new Lamborghini that I just gotten off the boat. When they popped the hood, there was a brass hammer that looked like it was 50 years old. There wasn’t much of it left, but it looks so cool and vintage.
Great tour. Those harbor freight lights are great and I have bad luck with expensive ones. I've had that gateway problem on a Maserati (Chrysler) and had to get a bypass connector that was about $30 so we didn't have to pay their subscription
Thank you Danny for a great tour! As an ex Oldsmobile mechanic, I really enjoyed the brand specific speciality tool info. Great set of tools here, and they look used, unlike some other extreme tours. LOL I pretty much only own a bunch of Ford trucks, so if you could do a Ford truck mechanic tour, with all of the brand specialty tool info, that would be awesome. Thanks for the video.
Great video. I got bummed out when you didn't post a video for a week. I agree with the sizes he has out. Must not do a lot of brakes. Lol Equinox caliper bracket bolts are 17mm Older Malibu/olds Cutlass caliper bolts are 12mm Gmt800 platform caliper bolts are 19mm. But yet again I'm the guy who doesn't mind brakes. Keep up your videos when I get my organization down maybe you can shoot my box
Did you notice that little tool box with the handle in the lower right side drawer is the same one you asked about in your resent video on the truck tool tour.
The scan tools, have to pay Chrysler for computer info 2016 and up.The other option is buy a bypass cable to get through without paying for the info once a year. Those transmission line fitting clips,I save them too.Once in a while you will lose them removing them. Those flare nut sockets are a copy of the Koken design.Koken had a patent on them and came out with them first.Snap On copied it after the patent ran out.Spring Tools makes that Snap On spring loaded punch and chisel set
Not info Access, the gateways are locked so people can't hack into the computers. In 2014 a group of hackers hacked into a jeep and took complete control of it while driving down the road, it's for security not to rip off mechanics, the same way you need an LSID to make keys nowadays
EEEEEEE I have the US General 6 drawer service cart and I love it so much. Also when you said chevy and his classic setup. Its funny cause the Chevy dealership near me is called Classic Chevrolet. Its been there forever. It used to be called Bill Heard back in the day. For some odd reason everytime i go to get a part from Classic Chevrolet I always feel nostalgic. GM just has a nostalgic feel to them and I dont know why. And I like Ford better. Mainly for nostalgia and my Mazda is technically Ford.
Snap on has "semi deep" impact wobbles, i got a few, they are almost as deep as a regular deep, thought thats what it eas at first (edit) they also have deeps now, not sure when he was looking or what but they exist now.
As a gm tech as well it’s so cool to see and know what he’s talking about. Has anyone found any super strong t50 torx? I’m constantly braking mine on a steering wheel recall I have a blue point one and a couple impact rated ones but they all break.
Same. Gearwrech all broken. Have you tried the gold Snap On? Ive had good luck with Wright 3/4 drive hex when everything else breaks. They might make strong torx.
2nd the VIM. I have Mayhew and believe they may be VIM rebranded Mayhew, but Im not 100%. Definitely go one piece either way, and stick to S2 wrather that the black chromo as they're much harder.
@@nathankisner8332 I’ll definitely look into them I’ve been looking at getting the snap on gold next time I see my rep. I’m very interested by the wright ones
The braun lights are best bang for the buck i have a snap on one cause o broke my braun and i hate it so i got another braun i fixed my old light before i would use the snap on light thats how much i disliked it

Busy dude working on those modern GM trans.... The HD trucks are little better the 1500 is dead to me once they went to struts stop using Greaseable suspension and steering parts ... The electric parking break, steering hard pass for me in a work truck... I even prefer mechanical fans
I absolutely love GM, thanks to their piss poor quality they easily put all my children through college, funded my home on 120 acres of hunting land, my new Ford trucks and ranger boats every couple years.
Must be boring for that guy working at a gm dealer just sitting around and having nothing to do all day. Now, if he were at a CDJR dealer, he would be pulling his hair out, going full speed hustling, putting in over 100 actual hours a week, and not being able to keep up with the amount of garbage they have to fix.
He’s lying TLC is so slow I use my autel quite often like mentioned regens , fast learns and live data the MDI2 feels like your living in 2006 lol … but he’s definitely a GM guy

Great video with a real tech from the real world, Huge boxes with unused tools for 100 000 are boring. This is alot better.
I worked with Danny here in Denver and dude definitely had every tool needed to fix ANYTHING! Glad to see someone highlight his tool collection!

Danny, thank you for this tour. Perfect mix of special tools, homemade, old and new.
Yeah his homemade tools were cool to see. Thanks for watching Nathan!
This man knows his stuff. Love all the homemade tools. Astro Pneumatic makes a mid length impact swivel socket set too. Pinless, without the bulky collar and only sixty bucks or so.

Dude's a better engineer than most of the guys building the cars. His tooling game is top
Very cool tour. Love the "1776" customer tag hanging from his cabinet. 🇺🇲 🤘
Saturday. 12hr day shift. Drinking coffee. Watching a cool vid!
Really liked this one. Gets what he needs and isn’t trying to be the chrome collector to have it all just to take up space.

That homemade quick disconnect heater core hose tool is genius. Such a tight fit back there and looks like it’s just durable enough for that job while still being flexible enough to get in there.
I made one for the ac lines on my ranger before I had a disconnect set
I like that he’s not tidied up and cleaned everything before hand!
Lots of ideas from this one thx
I love seeing the fabricated tools. It’s so cool. That is a great setup. Great video buddy.
Glad you enjoyed it John!
I love these tool reviews, I have learned a lot more about tools I didn't even know existed.
