This is a good idea! However you should also try doing your sketches with water soluble graphite! It'll disappear as you paint!

Use a grey watercolour pencil to draw lines on your canvas. It comes off much more easily.

I have orange canvas, and all this did was leave a big white mark all over the fabric.... And the pencil mark is still there. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh no! That’s so strange. I have never used an orange canvas before, but I have no idea why it would turn white if it’s just water and a little soap. It could possibly be that it has washed off the colour on the canvas leaving some of the blank canvas behind? In which case an eraser would probably do the same. If that’s the case I would think the best option would be to mix up a matching orange shade and paint over the lines that you no longer need. I hope this helps ❤️
