PLEASE do removing stripped screws and how to avoid stripping screws. I have a rapidstrike with a stripped screw attaching the flip up front sight, and I can't even open it all the way.
A mod tip that I would like to see is how to properly and effectively apply epoxy putty, examples of what blasters it's good in to potentially extend the life of it and what good alternatives there are to epoxy. Hope you consider it :)
I had a Retaliator that I broke because I didn't pad the plunger head. Luckily I had a Recon MK2 lying around that I can take the plunger from, but I guess I learned my lesson. Definitely padding it this time.
There is an adative in gorrilla brand super glue that allows it to flex and increases the shear strength far eyond that of regular super glue effectively rubberizing it. If you dont mind waiting a silicone based adhesives would be better as it also flexes and will add aditional cushioning. Goop brand is my favorite. They label it with different applications in mind ie shoe, automotive, marine etc but im pretty sure its all the same except for maybe sun screens in the marine and automotive kind.
I wished I padded my Recon's reverse plunger, or even the dart sled, cause the last time I fired my recon, I took off the stock mount, fired it, and the back of the reverse plunger split in half and one part flew into my cheek and landed into a potted plant. This happened during January and I decided to buy an actual replacement
Might suggest a link to Bobololo's channel and his batteries tips video. He didn't have physical example like you have been using, but he did a great job of matching pictures with what he was talking about and he had some very helpful advice for using and keeping the batteries safe. Just wanted to leave a reminder that that topic has already been covered by someone else and I thought that you might want to take the easy route, making mor3e time to work on the commission backlog the you keep saying you have to work through.
There are no topics I could possibly cover as far as modding advice that have not already been covered...it has all be done...many times. But I wanted to create a dedicated series of simple tips on simple techniques all in one place to help beginning modders.
I used the 1/4 foam to pad my plunger in my alpha trooper and now I don't think the prime goes back far enough to let the clip in. Sadly I had to super glue the tube back together becuase it was solvent welded. Do you think the foam will compress over the next few days enough to get the clip in?
On the EAT, my plunger cannot be removed due to a cap on the rear side of the plunger tube. Is there a trick to removing this? I don't want to grind up the thing if it is unnecessary. I had to remove the A/R and I'm running an 8 kg spring, so... it needs padding.
Great modding video Captain. Your blaster videos are funny and very informative to watch and so keep up the great work! By the way I saw this post at Nerfhaven that suggests using Silicone Sealant would be better for padding the plunger head nerfhaven.com/forums/topic/22201-simple-and-durable-plunger-head-padding/ The Silicone Sealant would be more durable than craft foam because over time the constant impact between the plunger head and the end of the tube will cause the foam to collapse and be crushed When the Silicone Sealant is cured it will have the viscosity of very soft rubber and will absorb shock quite well I used Loctite waterproof silicone sealant to pad my Buzz Bee blaster plunger head and it seems to work just great
Can you pad a plunger head if it can't be removed from the plunger tube like the slingfire? Also does this make the blaster quiter and does this affect performance such as fps? Thank you for the great content captain.
I've had issues with magazine fed blasters not being able to load a magazine with a padded plunger head... The padding making the head too long which means the boltsled doesn't move back far enough. How is this issue resolved?
If you replace your plunger head with a metal one would you need to still pad it with a heavier spring load in it? My other question is will the metal plunger head 'for the long shot' work with one shot pistols plunger heads?
Have you ever tried the craft foam that already has the sticky back? I was thinking about using that but not sure how well the sticky back glue would hold up
@@CaptainXavier There's on orange tube on the strongarm that holds the plunger. It also has an AR attached to it. On the end of the tube is some padding. Does it serve a purpose or is it just cosmetic? Thanks!
Not much you can do with reverse plunger. If you can find a spring that fits that is an option. Alternatively a power stock. Some can have their internals replaced with elite internals...but what is the point? Just use the elite blaster...
Christian T-D 85 Captain a clear retaliator/recon or any of the other clear blasters is why you'd drop in elite internals 😉 because clear blasters are super awesome cool 😊....... Until they invent clear paint lol
is the padding meant to sit in top of the lip of the plunger head, or inside it? does the padding effect air compression at all, or is it simply to absorb impact from an increased spring load?
Inside the lip so it does not cause friction with the sides of the plunger tube. It does fill some dead space but a negligible amount so it is mostly just to cushion the impact.
@@user-zq6yz5gf6d already done LiPos and integrations. Not sure what a video on XT-60s would even involve. It has two leads. Solder wires to the leads.
@@CaptainXavier oh.. didnt know that, um.. *tries to think of something not already done* Airtanks? As in modding things like the titan and magstrike airtanks, and intergrating them into other blasters to make them extremely powerful
Sure, feel free to email it. Do a picture of me in full gear atop a mound of dead zombies with more climbing up at me. EIR flinging foam for all she is worth!
Absolutely! Pad the grip, the stock, the sights. I also would pad the carry handle, the bottom of the magazine, and front of the battery housing. For internals, I would pad around the barrel, under the flywheel cage, and behind the Rev and Trigger switches. The only thing you don't need to pad is the plunger head because the rapidstrike is a Flywheel blaster and does not have a plunger head...
Im going to remove the air restrictor of my magnus then i will add the plunder padding what will happen if i dryfire the magnus? Also how does it effect the performance?
The first couple of times? Probably nothing. Eventually it will break. As for performance, removing the AR will likely do very little if you do not also replace the breach. The AR is not there to limit performance but to reduce damage. Removing only helps if you have a system that can actually utilize the full air volume. A stock breach cannot.
PLEASE do removing stripped screws and how to avoid stripping screws. I have a rapidstrike with a stripped screw attaching the flip up front sight, and I can't even open it all the way.
Try using a drill bit smaller than the screw to get it out, and drill right into the screw. However make sure you have a strong drill bit
it is totally wrecked, and I will try to drill it out. Thanks! A video would still be good though
ooooh, good one. I will add it to the list.
Captain Xavier can you please add a link too the specific foam you use, just for a little more covient.
I'm pretty sure there are special drill bits that are threaded opposite to the screw. Once it bites in deep enough it'll extract the screw for you.
A mod tip that I would like to see is how to properly and effectively apply epoxy putty, examples of what blasters it's good in to potentially extend the life of it and what good alternatives there are to epoxy. Hope you consider it :)

Yes, it protects the plunger tube from the metal plunger. And no. The Longshot plungerhead is much larger than those in single shot pistols.
