The “Grandes études de Paganini, S. 141” were composed in 1851. It is a revision of the first edition of the “Études d'exécution transcendante d'apres Paganini, S. 140”. The third piece, La Campanella, is the most famous of Liszt's works. It is an arrangement of the melody from the third movement of Niccolò Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 2.” Campanella” means bell in Italian, and the sparkling tone of the high notes represents the sound of a bell. The most difficult part of this piece is the leaps of up to 15 degrees. While it is a very difficult piece, it is also impressive for its beautiful melody, which has been performed by many famous pianists. It was also a famous piece owned by Fujiko Hemming.
03 - From the beginning, there is a challenging leap including the 15th degree
59 - A series of triplets in the right hand is difficult
24 - An even more difficult 32nd-note quartet is played
00 - A quick passage in the right hand is beautiful
32 - The music is quiet, and the theme appears mournfully
17 - intense simultaneous leaps by both hands (the hardest part)
48 - The music intensifies in intensity
09 - The climax is a series of octaves in the right hand

A lovely relaxed tempo! It can be fun to hear interpretations that are like a gallop but some relaxation helps the themes open up sometimes 🥰
