Renee's admiration of Jimmy Carter is thoroughly delightful. The 4 minutes listening to her story was such a refreshing change of pace from our current political environment.
She comes across to me as being highly intelligent and thoughtful even though obviously nervous and somewhat uncomfortable in giving an interview. She knew Colbert was a big Tolkien fan. Her fandom for Jimmy Carter is understandable for intelligent human beings. World War 2 vet. Married for 76 years. Poet. Humanitarian. Religious. Principled. Honest. He's everything the current president is not. Both will likely end up being one term presidents but only Carter is a man of honor and integrity. A person who cares about others.
Yes, wonderfully said everything I too feel . I've admired President Carter 4 years. So sorry our current president couldn't be more like President Carter .

Jimmy Carter is all of those things, except he is not a World War II veteran in the usual sense of the term. He was in the U.S. Naval Academy during World War II, graduating in 1946. He served in the Navy until 1953, and in the Naval Reserve until 1961.
It's been said that Jimmy Carter may not have had a great career as a president, but had a brilliant and outstanding career post-presidency. He's more than a great president, he's a great human being.
She’s adorable! How wonderful she admires the brilliant Jimmy Carter for his wonderful attributes that have nothing to do with his being a past President.

Met her when I was a little kid. We were both taking French class lol I guess she was doing it for a role or something. Didn’t realize it was her until she got off the elevator. My favorite movie then was Down With Love and when it clicked who she was, I turned to my dad with my mouth open. She was carrying one of those big trays of Starbucks so I held the door for her and she was so grateful like I had given her 100 bucks or something. She kept saying thank you. Maybe it’s a southern thing, but definitely the most warm and friendly celebrity encounter I’ve ever had.
She is my one "claim to fame". Her uncle lives two houses down from me, here in Norway. And according to my mom - me and she played together on the local beach when we were kids (like 5 years old). =P
Love this woman. Such a great actor and person. And still so beautiful. Hear she’s 50 but, boy, she’s still a hottie. And she made me go and watch video on Jimmy. And made me appreciate him more. But she seems so vulnerable in this video. Makes me want to hug her and tell her how marvelous she is...
The entire interview was cool, but I especially loved her Jimmy Carter story. No how matter successful she is it's cute that she would get shy upon meeting President Carter 💗😂
She looks SO good! I remember a year or two ago when she was all over the news for “getting plastic surgery” and being “unrecognizable” and she said she was just living her best life. Boy was she right.
The first time I watched Renee’s interview was with Keanu Reeves and I instantly felt she was just as kind as him. The fact that she named Jimmy Carter of all the people just shows that she’s an amazing person.
A wonderful interview with a wonderful woman. I appreciate her President Carter story. He's the only president I'll go to Washington DC for to attend his funeral procession. His profound goodness has inspired me all these years. Especially given our epically degenerate parasite-in-chief, I will surely weep upon President Carter's passing.
Whenever that movie comes on for some reason I watch it. the movie was great it reminded me of those 1960's movie's with Doris Day and Rock Hudson glad someone else likes it too.
Renee...WOW.........you are AMAZING..THANK you for your service to HUMANITY.....for appreciating ....JIMMY Carter's...contributions to HUMANITY...for being you
I also remembered her telling the story before in an interview, but I didn’t realize it was so long ago. I think it may have been on Oprah. The interviewer was suprised she waited in such a long line & didn’t use her celebrity status to skip the line. I remember her replying she couldn’t do that. I also remember her saying she was in heels, because she wanted to look nice.
Love her she’s always surprising us how talented she is wait..reminding us ❤,class act she’s never been a run the junction girl but rallies for the public and her contractual obligations.
Imagine being the kid in 1980 and openly supporting Jimmy Carter just before election day and telling the class in a speech why they should reelect him as POTUS. Yes that was me and I am still alive today. Hey, he turned out to be a beacon for peace and that I hope we can all agree on.
Now that's how you tell a story. Brilliant. And points to her for managing to work in reference to Colbert's favourite director/films. Somebody did her homework.
Hope you don't have kids or pets, sounds like you go around slapping anything that moves. Take your meds if needed. Stop your shit it makes me think you're a nervous wreak. Have a nice day :)
I find it amazing thst she is talking about temperance and critique of consumerism here! That's not something you'd expect from a Hollywood Star! She is taking a stand here. I certainly didn't think she'd have such views!
Speaks laudably of Renee that she loves Jimmy Carter. President Carter is an exceptional human being. Renee has a beautiful heart. It takes an exceptional human to recognize another exceptional human being. The old adage - we see yourselves in others.
I never heard of Jimmy's book signing drawing such crowds with at least a 4_1/2 hour wait line out onto the sidewalk in the snow and cold after coming four hours early is still embrace by one so resourced as Zellweger. Clearly, the revolution will not be televised and clearly there is hope for humanity.
Very much my interaction with Adam West when I was younger. I admired him so much but when I got face to face with him I was speechless. I was only 10 at the time but still I wish I would’ve said something lol
I love Jimmy, too! And I had my own similar embarrassing moment at a George Takei book signing when I thanked him for his public service in San Francisco -- then remembered when I got home that it was Los Angeles. Sigh.
She's so different than I would expect. Crazy thoughtful . I hope someone shows this to Jimmy.

She's lovely and I thought in my ignorance she was British once when I saw her in the Bridget Jones movies. Her accent is perfect
Folks who sing well generally have a certain talent for doing accents. Meryl Streep certainly has that talent, as does the lovely Renee.
Of all the people she could have picked, her celebrity crush is Jimmy Carter - not the president, but the scholar, humanitarian and poet. 😍😍

Aww, that's a really sweet experience. Glad you had a nice encounter with her.
My favorite movie when I was a teenager was Down with Love! Loved her and Ewan together!

How can you not love Renee Zellwegger after that?

Rock on Rene. You are wonderful, genuine and sweet! Not to mention your intelligence.
So funny. Great story from Renee. "Hey" 🤣🥰

President Carter is a sweet, sincere man.
The one ex-president who is the most polar opposite of the current president.

Carter: Builds homes for the homeless in his offtime. Trump: Can't be bothered to close an umbrella. Polar opposites.
Proudly, he was the first president I was old enough to vote for, and still my favorite.

Jimmy Carter sheared a book of love letters through the years he wrote to his wife, simply beautiful.
Renee as Judy Garland knocked it out of the park. You were awesome, Renee. Thank you for your talent and courage.
My fellow Texan, and fellow Jimmy Carter enthusiast, Renee Zellweger. 💗
I love how her southern accent peeks out at times
The real problem is that performance on Colbert deserves an Oscar. That is the definition of a good celebrity story.
Judy /Bridget Jones wow!Icon among us.Loved the interview.Peanut Unicorn magic southern charm.
Ok. This is super charming. Very cool reasons to pick a person to wait in the snow 4 four hours to meet. Made me like her a lot.
Renée Zellweger is one of those fortunate people who become more attractive with age.
Surely you jest?
She looks bizar!
Only her mouth moves, and with effort she blinks.... too much surgery and botox.
What? She can barely move her lips.
