  • Taking a look at my first Sencut knife. I am already a big fan of both WE Knives and Civivi Knives. And I am liking what I am seeing from Sencut so far.
    Just one question....Is the Waxahachie the perfect EDC fixie? If not then it damn sure should be in the running.

    The reason for that style of lanyard is to give you a more comfortable grip when using the knife for extended periods of time. And you can switch it from pressing it against the front of the handle to the back to switch your grip without actually switching your grip. It works quite well for this purpose, especially if you have large hands. 🙂

    Go look at Outpost 76's tests and you will see that Sencut's 9cr18mov has outcut and out performed many other high end steels including loads of 154cm, S30V and even some import M390. Their heat treat on this steel is only a little shy getting an edge that can cut as much as Spyderco's S45VN. Whatever Sencut and Civivi is doing to their 9cr heat treat they are doing it right. I would rather have a more budget steel that's really well heat treated than a supersteel that is super soft. From the testing I have seen 9cr18mov and 14C28N are the two best budget steels out there in Chinese production knives today. Great review. Thanks for the thorough details.

      9cr isn't a bad steel at all. It just doesn't appeal to steel snobs. HT is key to unlocking a steel's potential for sure. AUS10 is another good midrange steel showing good potential.

    This is definitely a good one and Sencut has some amazing options out now. I thought of you today Baz, my daughter just started taking Guitar lessons and I just picked her up her first electric guitar and amp yesterday.

      Brandon, that's awesome. Hopefully your daughter enjoys the guitar and sticks with it. The first year can be frustrating so be sure and be supportive.
      Sencut is impressing me so far. The Waxahachie is a sweet little fixie.

      @@BrandonGavin_EDC find someone that will structure her lessons around learning popular songs. Any technique is more enjoyable to learn if it is part of learning a cool song. If I wanted to teach a young person basic chord shapes I would teach them how to play an AC/DC song. That approach is very satisfying for young players.

    The lanyard is there to use in survival. People can unravel that and use it for many things.

      It's definitely one of "those" knives that fall into a sweet spot. I think it would be perfect size for most EDC fixie users.

    Right on about the lanyard! When I first saw this knife I was like... 👀
    Maybe it’s designed for a less lethal option?? Knock your attacker out rather than cut em! Lol
    Great assessment video!

      It's probably made to be unraveled and used as a climbing rope, bear trap, or crocheted into a emergency shelter. You know, paracord stuff.

    Hmm, should I replace the similar Kizer Harpoon with this? Would be giving up D2 to get the nicer handle and better sheath.

    • @BazonBlades
      @BazonBlades  Год назад +1

      Ok....That's a tough one. Because I also love the Harpoon. I wouldn't give up on either one of them. Both are reasonably priced. I would just buy both.
