Good point about the bolt on the steering wheel lol
Followed the instructions here , used the splash hub and my air bag light is still on
can you do a video on an nrg set up with the horn?
Do you guys have anything that will still let the horn work with an after market wheel?
Is there anyway install a aftermarket steering wheel but on a automatic transmission to keep the paddle shifters?
on my BRZ, the clockspring only has one wire going into the airbag. nor do I really know how to perfectly allign the clock spring. it moves with zero effort, and its really frustrating when you feed the wiring through.
then there is the horn
splash hub only comes with 1 resistor. the guy installing it did it wrong you will still get the air bag light on. you need 2 resistors in order to remove the air bag light.
in the video it obviously showed more than one.
I have a momo steering wheel for my brz but will the SRK-125H hub work without a quick release or do I need a quick release
My restors are both red with 2 black tapes one longer then the other help which do i conmect
Rambo Kid same, which do I connect??
Where the horn wire went!?
WTFFFF Surprised to see this guy form subispeed sitting in a BRZ FRS doing this video. So is FT96speedFactory a division of Subispeed???? Then why does Subispeed also sell BRZ stuff? Why not combines FRS and BRZ aftermarket parts on one website
I wonder can i do this on newer models (2017+)
I know i will lose some built in features but can i still do it ?
the splash adapter on your website says it works with sparco steering wheel bolt patterns I have an nrg steering wheel. will it work?
Do the automatic paddle shifters remain when switching to an aftermarket steering wheel or are they removed?
they are removed. But you will still have the slap shift :)
+Joey Cyganiak Should've bought a manual.
Shouldve bought a manual
Is there a way to do this with an auto but keep the paddles somehow?
I would like to know if this is possible too.
Yeah you buy it in manual
the resister that u guys used came with the hub kit? Or did u guys make it?
hows the freeplay with the sparco quick release? is there room for wiring while utilizing horn with the sparco quick release?
How do you set up the horn
Leonard Denicker that's exactly what i wanna know. Not only do you lose the airbag and cruise control, but also the horn?
The steering wheel they used didn't use a horn so they skipped that part entirely. Installing any sort of aftermarket wheel will result in losing the airbag and steering wheel button controls.
how many gears does the wheel hub has for toyota 86? as i have steering wheel hub adaptor for corolla which has 33 gears, so will it fit toyota 86?
I want a suede one so bad. Get rid of that "plasticy" OEM style that comes with it!
can you buy that resistor by its self for the air bag? Just curious since I was going to order a different hub adapter. or if anyone knows what resistor is needed??
What all parts will I need to do this and will it work with a 1016 automatic frs (comes with paddles)
Dennis Perez you have an automatic, you don’t deserve a nice wheel lol
Why does everyone hate automatic so much? Yeah I get the point that it's more fun to drive and you get a "better connection," to your car but it doesn't make your dick bigger nor does it make you special. So why all the hate?
It does make your dick bigger, if you owned a manual transmission you would know...
Do i need to remove the camspring
is cruise control still operational?
Of course
I'm guessing if we're using ecutek, map switching with cruise control, the cruise controls will be removed?
Yes cruise control is removed with an aftermarket wheel unless you custom fab a bracket to mount the controls. If you want to keep the stock controls you should take a look at the OEM Fit wheels we offer.
is that steering wheel 350mm or 320mm?
An install of a wheel and making the horn work would be a better video. At best I'd like my horn active for use.
so like... what happens when you hit something
After putting on the aftermarket wheel can you still raise and lower the steering wheel column?
No
Hi man, i have a 2012 genesis coupe, and my wheel have some controls on it, whats going to happend to the airbag light and hurn ?
I have an automatic would i lose the paddle shifters if i change to an aftermarket?
I don't own a frs, so I don't know if the paddle shifters are mounted onto the steering wheel. If they are, then you will lose the option to use them. I don't recommend getting a aftermarket wheel
+PMJS15 no you will not, they have options for paddle shifters
Is there any options that allow you to retain cruise control?
Chasen Blasdel ruclips.net/video/V7nxaFG4vxI/видео.html
+Chasen Blasdel Nice. That was my *first* question when watching this. Gonna check that link.
Chasen Blasdel what are these for why remove steering wheel
SO NO ONE CAN STEAL THE CAR.
Is there a video with the nrg hub on the frs? I know it's a little different since the clock spring doesn't have a perfect fit
We did not install the NRG hub but it looks like you will have to remove the gold and plastic ground on the hub to get a proper fit.
On the clock spring right?
will the installation for aftermarket wheel remain the same on toyota gt86?
Liutauras Tomoševičius yes
How do I make sure the wheels are aligned?
+Erock Will need to eye it and make adjustments as necessary.
can i use a quick release with a factory steering wheel? it doesnt look like i can but maybe there are different types of quick release hubs..
You guys do understand racing wheels like this mod are more designed for handling on tracks and such. They arent for daily driving your kids to school n shit.
"You mean I lose my horn, air bag, cruise control, radio, paddle shifters?"
Duh.
What Toyota emblem overlay is that? Is it on the website?
Timmy7842 www.ft86speedfactory.com/toyota-matte-steering-wheel-emblem-overlay-1957.html
FT86SpeedFactory hey the regular hub ( not the short hub) how close is it to stock, what I mean is with this hub does the steering wheel sit where it would stock?
My question is how did he get the black toyota logo on that oem steering wheel? Not even the real 86 has that...🤔🤔
www.ft86speedfactory.com/toyota-86-steering-wheel-emblem-overlay-1914.html#.W7tfv3tKirw
Why?
The aftermarket, is missing the most important features.
The horn and airbag
Mine has a horn
Yeah what about the horn and cruise control? :/
Exactly what I was thinking lol. I think this is more for people who go to the track or just care about the look of the steering wheel, not their safety
+ErockHQ - I would definitely look into aftermarket wheels if the cruise control stalk wasn't on the wheel, but I'm not hacking this car or making it less equipped so that's ruled out.
Nickel Reed who really uses that girly little horn on the 86 anyways. as for the cruise controll well I never use it so no big deal on my end
I never referred to a horn as feminine or masculine, it's just a horn, and in most states, required to pass inspection. So yes, I use it. My commute is also 32 miles one way 5 days a week so cruise control is also a must, not including long trips. To each their own.
Will it still pass inspection?
Not likely but given that the install video was only 5 minutes you could probably just swap back to OEM for your inspection
Is this hard to do on a automatic?
Mario Cortez Jr Should be the same process.
FT86SpeedFactory what would I do with the paddles? Are there wires I would have to worry about?
+Mario Cortez Jr There's is no way to mount the paddles so your SOL. You're better off learning to drive stick in the first place lol
No airbag no horn. Why would I want that
Is this street legal?-------------------
+Sauce Man Yep
+Sauce Man Does it really matter?
yeah cause im trying not to get fined.
No.its illegal with no airbag. Insurance companies don't wanna work with these cars.
Don’t do it, unsafe (no horn/airbag)
Ugly ass wheel
