2005 Toyota Camry wont Crank or Start

This video was made to give people guidance on where to look first when your car is having this same car trouble. Be aware that if your car is giving you this similar trouble, it may not necessarily be the starter or the battery.

The SECOND thing you check after the battery is the fuses then the relay and neutral safety switch. Those things are the simplest and cheapest. After tracing the problem you end at the solenoid /starter. A solenoid is not always cheaper than buying it already attached to the starter. By the way, if you hear a click, it's not your relay, fuses or neutral safety switch. If you DON'T hear a click then it could be any of the 3.

What if the Camry clicks once and turns off. I have a guy I know running into this issue. He has to take like 10min to start his car. Key in the ignition goes to start and clicks then turns off. He does this multiple times then bam the car starts up fine. He’s replaced his fuses, start and ignition. Still having the same issue.

I'm having this issue. Took it to Toyota dealer. They couldn't find anything wrong. Looked at the mileage from the time I was there with the same problem til now with the same problem. They said I don't drive the car enough. Got in it this morning. Turned the key it wouldn't start. Turned it a second time it started. I'm having headaches now.

I believe I have the same problem on my 2005 Canry. Except that hotting the starter worked but I am going to replace it anyway..my battery is 5 months old and the starter looks like the original starter

Perfect but make sure to tell her not to hold the key for that long after its started. Especially with camrys that can burn the starter out early again💯

How much did the starter cost?

Since there is no click, you can just replace the starter solenoid, which is cheaper than buying the complete starter. I would just buy Toyota starter solenoid. After market starter does not have quality solenoid, which will fail quickly (mine failed after 6 months).

Not always true. I have this starting issue right now and the solenoid was $20 more than the starter

You might have a bad battery or the battery terminals may be loose.

@@stephanierebecca823 Yeah, The headlights come on but the engine won't turn. You are correct about the bolted down wire that goes from the starter to the terminal. Actually it's the positive wire, (Red) wire.

Same here but took the starter off and took it to Oreilly it passed. So after that I didnt know what to do.

Really... My Camry did this tonight After work (first time) and I never could get it to crank. I actually rebuilt this motor myself about 4 years ago so I'm mechanically inclined but locking the steering wheel never occurred to me. I'll try that tomorrow before I begin chasing down other potential problems. Could you give me a brief description of what your cremory was doing? Like were you getting full power when you turn the key to AC but when you bumped it over to start you got nothing... No voltage drop no. Crank no nothing?

I replaced my battery and I have no lights, no nothing. The battery has been tested and the battery is fine.
