    Mate you just modified max trax using lock tite, your a legend , and probably a better device then their new replaceable stud trax,
    I'd put a bigger washer on the other side tho so it doesn't pull thru the plastic, awesome job 👍

      Thanks mate. The repair is very easy. Most difficult part was to work out the correct bolt length and thickness so the tracks are still stackable.

    You just saved me a lot of money, I was going to get the more expensive maxtrax with the replaceable teeth but don't need to anymore!

      Just remember not to overspin your wheels. After all the new teeth is metal.

    Great idea! Even if it only works short term, it’s still better than throwing away perfectly good trax.👍 subed.

    This is very clever. Great idea. If I may add my 10c…. My concern would be the metal on rubber wear. Maybe glue a plastic cap cover on top of the bolt and thread.
    As I say, very clever. I was actually RUclipsing ideas when I saw your blog. I was thinking about using epoxy and football boot studs on a cheap set of tracks.
    I just can’t justify the cost of Maxtrax.

    I see this video is 2 years old now? How did it work? Would you do it again or make any changes…? ✌🏻🇿🇦

      Yeh I don't really think that would be a problem with the metal studs. However I only used once or twice but it seems doing the trick.

    If you go to your local bolt shop instead of Bunnings you will pay about a quarter of the price or less for those bolts 👍

    It would be cool to see a follow up video of this fix.
    Like a "X" amount of months later type video. I am a bit worried about the bolts hurting the tyres.
    But otherwise awesome and very useful video.

      Cheers. I would love to find one day to test it extensively!
      I have actually used them once after the fix and it works alright. Check this link out time stamp at lennard poweline track.

    Have you thought about using a dome nut instead?
    Sharp threads will rip up your tyres.

    • @customcraftnadventure
      @customcraftnadventure  3 года назад +1

      Dome nuts probably not pointy enough aye. Also they take up too much height so tracks won't stack like before.
      Maybe file off the sharp bits to decrease tyre damage.

      My thoughts exactly. I get the point of not being sharp enough but I wonder if this isn’t too much

    Can you post the links to the hardware?

    Did you test it to see if the bolts just rip out under load?

    • @customcraftnadventure
      @customcraftnadventure  3 года назад

      I haven't really got a chance to test it yet. But I assume it won't. I think the plastic should be destroyed first. But the track itself is normally real tough.

    Do they still stack though? I’d also put the nut on the inside, the head of the bolt makes a more tyre-friendly grip point.

    • @customcraftnadventure
      @customcraftnadventure  3 года назад +1

      yes they still stack although they are a bit tight.
      to answer your question, i think it may be even more trickier to stack them up if you put the nut inside. Not only you need to work out the exact length of the bolt, but the nut itself may simply be too thick for the tracks to stack.
      also the bolt head may not be pointy enough to grip in my opinion. That said, you can try that and let me know.
