I know you stopped just over a year ago... but I always come back to watch your videos they are just soo good and approachable to learning - I also agree maxtrax for us have been one of the best investments to a self recovery raid!
As an old guy who just goes down onto the beach and gets stuck occasionally I really appreciate the presentation and insights of how to get out off trouble by just investing in the right gear. Thanks mate great job and service you are doing.
I can't believe neither you nor anyone else has commented on the spectacular backdrop. That place is a well kept secret and the view is absolutely breathtaking. Every single time. Even more amazing is that you can drive about 60kms from Perth, half of it being all bush and in the hills, and then suddenly you can see the CBD skyline.
In my area, if you are remote and on the trail (track), if you get bogged down and need to be rescued by a tow truck.... $500 is about what you will pay for one rescue depending on how remote you are and IF...IF...IF they can get to you.
I needed these last weekend bad. Thanks. Needed two full size trucks with 12,000 lb winches to pull out a Jeep sunk at the lake. These would have saved me no problem.
You’re presenting is 10/10. Have Learned a lot from your vids. This one maybe a little sponsored (I don’t know), but your honesty as usual and showing different scenarios where a product can fall or excel is on point. I like how you stay true whether sponsored or not. Keep up the great work.
Great Vid Michael. I once wondered if MaxxTrax saw my version many years ago and copied it except did a proper job LOL. I used to get the old bread crates and cut the bottoms out of those and carried four in my car for our WA beach adventures. They worked (albeit) you needed to get them laying totally flat so required proper ground preparation (otherwise you spun your wheels on them) but they gave me enough hard ground to get some momentum up to get me going again. The poor wife had to carry them to what ever spot I deemed hard enough for me to stop on once I had gotten out though hahaha ... she’s a good girl! Great vid mate!
great review Michael, Maxtrax are the best self recovery item you can get and they are pretty top value for the time they last, low maintenance compared to servicing or replacing a winch, I also use my trax as a ramp for my quad bike, double them up to load on the trailer
Good little video with some great tips and testing - thanks!! Today's 'word of the day': "Guys'"... Anyway guys, I hope you guys enjoyed... haha! 0:00 0:02 4:05 6:56 10:00 10:46 17:54 17:58 20:33 20:42 Took me ages to do that - and I watched it again!!
Top class video mate. Your a champion. Your number one in my book.😊 After watching this video, l'll be buying a pair of Maxtraks Extreme. Thanks for posting.😊
Top-notch videos sir. Your camping videos came in handy for me last week! You're making me want to buy a 4x4 when I can afford it. hahaha. Cheers, from sunny Southern California!
I love your videos thanks for uploading. Could you do a short video of how you prepare your car for beach work, ie rustproofing or coatings and washing etc
I have been enjoying watching your channel that I recently discovered. Also as what I think of as an odd twist of fate, MaxTrax USA is just down the street from me!
I watched your videos about the basics of recovery and always you have those maxtrax. I bought the extreme last week and still waiting to arrive. I'm looking forward to get it tested here in NZ.
Great review mate. I bought my first set 3 years ago from supercrap auto for $220 on sale, then my second set a week later for $160 (using points gained from the earlier buy to help bring the price down), so will pay to wait for supercrap sales to buy these I reckon. I've used mine several times in the Pilbara due to driving a prado & swear by them (never needed recovery gear when I had my old MK Triton!).
Thankyou for this info. It's just what I have been looking for...for a whole year now. Saw something being used in the northern part of Cape peninsula Qld. and just couldn't find any information..until now, that is. Bravo.
Little hack for you. I have replaced the plastic nubs with bolts and washers. Works as these new ones you have. I have been doing this for along time. Mainly just to be cheap. But it works like a charm. and grips well.
Recovery tracks in general are also great if you're in an area without other 4WD friends to help out, and places where you don't have anything to attach a winch to. Not to mention they can be used on more softroader type vehicles which may not have the option of good solid winch capable bull bars, rated recovery points and so on. The tracks can really be used on any vehicle - so they're super handy.
You won me over with the jack stand base! I don’t always get to pick where I need help. Snow is what I’m up against! Got snow demonstration? Great video 👍🏻🏆✅
Had a ford ranger 2x4 with difflock. Did a bunch of off roading and sand with it. My friend pulled me out thick sand once but otherwise it ran great just had to keep the revs up. Bought a ford ranger 3.0 tdci 4x4 xle. Now still have not done any 4x4 . Watch your videos now to see what recovery gear i am getting first. Max trax is forst on my list and a pump.
Nice work. Be interested if the flex and rebound of the maxxy extremes is impacted by the design change and ali grips. Feel free to drop another couple of tests for us.
well now that these new ones are out I bet you will start seeing the older ones come up for sale used. I always do that because I dont have the budget for this kind of stuff, I buy used and most of the time the stuff has been barely used and its like half the price.
When I first seen them I was wondering if the metal teeth would tear up rocker panels and I'm glad you pointed that out at the end of your video. Nice Review. TC
clearly this particular video was sponsored by maxtrax. otherwise he would mention other video he made comparing maxtrax with knockoffs that were not bad at all
We have a method that we use in two-wheel drive cars in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the city of Buraidah, which is that in the case of one of the rear tires stops rotating, we use the manual brake until the stopping tire moves
I can do that for you. I have both the pro's are cheaper but they don't pack up as well and the tips while moulded with a tougher plaster are not easily replaceable. For the added cost but with the continued ability to replace teether the MaxTrax is the real winner for me. :)
I owned a 07 huilx sr5 for 4 months now and I dont do much 4wd driving. I would to get a pair of tracks but dont want to fork out $300 or even $500, but I didn't want to buy cheap ones from Ebay. I found this guy from Facebook and he has a small business in bunbury. I got a good pair of tracks from him for about $150 and they seem pretty good.
This fellow is always seemingly in such a good mood, lol. Great video tho, sadly here in the states these are retailing for $499 USD which is a LOT compared to the $300-320 for the standard version
A $500 dollar piece of $5.00 dollar plastic isn't so bad if it gets you out of a bad place! I just bought 4 of these MaxTrax Extremes for my 10.000 pound H1 Hummer. Along with a winch, Kinetic ropes, tow straps, chains, a 60" Hi Lift Jack, and a Wyeth Scott come along. etc. I don't ever plan on getting stuck, and not getting myself unstuck! :) Of course, never say never! ;)
Hi, that was a great comparison. I still use the very first original MaxTrax and wonder if you have ever done a comparison between the original and the Mk 2. Thanks Stephen
You can make homemade ones with a 2 by 6 hard wood 3 inch thick boards nail bolts in that at 5 inch longer so the bolt ends also work as grip for them at a price of 14$ for everything. I still am going to buy these new maxtrax but if your on a budget and can’t spend 70$ on cheap ones than do quality ones for cheap
Your a legend, glad I am not the only one who works on their car into the early hours of the morning! I hope you manage to get done what you had too! 👍🙂
Seek Adventure Got her all done and ready to go wheeling this weekend. Your not alone working on your vehicle in odd hours, it’s a passion! Keep up the good work!
I'm baffled how people think these aren't useful. I'm actually thinking of getting a set of these, I was going to get a $100 set after your cheap track comparison video, but I feel like buying something that lasts 8 years with replacement teeth would be worth it. I worked in a plastic factory as a kid and the blend of ingredients mixed with the price of the moulds is pretty extreme, finding the best mix of those ingredients is the most expensive thing, it appears maxtrax have got it right on.
The Max Trax Extreme look excellent but are they really worth 3 sets of Treds (2 sets of Pros)? I wonder if it might be possible to fix burned off nylon teeth by drilling out a series of holes and using some large bolts (head on top).
That's awesome, i would quite happily pay 500 for a set or a 1000 for four. They are an essential part of the recovery kit, anything that is an investment in your safety can't be bad
after i saved up enough money for 20 years i was finally able to buy a set of maxtrax
It took me that much for a truck, loving the Ridgeline!
i don't even have a 4x4 and i just spent 20 minutes watching a video about tracks. was good to learn something new.
Man I love comments like this, thanks for watching 😁👍
I know you stopped just over a year ago... but I always come back to watch your videos they are just soo good and approachable to learning - I also agree maxtrax for us have been one of the best investments to a self recovery raid!

Great video - I want to complement you on keeping the language clean. It is refreshing and makes the video much more enjoyable.
Thanks Richard, I really appreciate it 🙂. Its nice to know others feel the same about it.
not sure how profanity could make a video less enjoyable...
As an old guy who just goes down onto the beach and gets stuck occasionally I really appreciate the presentation and insights of how to get out off trouble by just investing in the right gear. Thanks mate great job and service you are doing.
You Guys are the king's of stuck!! thanks for the info it's nice to see all the different ways to get un- stuck!!
I can't believe neither you nor anyone else has commented on the spectacular backdrop. That place is a well kept secret and the view is absolutely breathtaking. Every single time.

Love watching your stuff. Keep it up. Cheers from Texas 🍻

Take your old trax. Drill out the old worn spikes and stick some bolt / nuts through with fender washers and boom.
New spikes. 😁
Think I'm gonna do that... cheers :D
Just wondering why you couldn't do that with cheaper options of tracks

Im actually doing this to some fiberglass waffle board trax I have cause my snow chains chewed up the edges.

Great vid, didn't even consider the track damaging the body, thanks for all the effort in this vid.
excellent job, i've had a set of extremes since last October for testing, they are extremely durable and effective.
Great job max tracks should sponsor your channel
Well done

Being aluminium now I wonder if they would rip your tyres to shreds if you do spin tyres on them?
Love your vids, love how you're always smiling, having fun making these videos 😆
Ok, I have seen several reviews on the traction boards of several makes but yours takes the cake. Well done, mine are now on order. You sold me.
Done like a pro mate. I reckon you should be picked up by Tv stations or something, your work is that good. And thanks for the video 😁

There is simply no cheap version that does what maxtrax does. Amazing product. I never go 4wheeling without them. Great videos mate
Got a feeling KINGS will try and copy these at some point.
Sorry, but yes there is. XBull does the exact same thing and doesn't bend you over and shove in you for some damn plastic traction boards.
Thank you, looking to buy my first set of recovery boards and this video set my mind up for a set of Maxtrax-extreme.

You should do a comparison between the tread pro's and the Maxtrax extreme.

I loaned my Tred Pros out and they came back with many of the teeth melted off. That is why I'm planning to replace them with the xtremes.
Awesome video with great explanation and demo. Great content.
Awesome video!
One thing I'd thought about, do the old MK2 and the new Xtreme stack together?
Nice job on the review. No mention of replacement teeth?? or cost per " tooth " if available??. Thanks, enjoyed the vid.
Well done Michael, keep up these great vids.
Another great video, very informative, keep up the AWESOME work.

May be an idea to get some bright coloured long cord to attach to the tracks, it could make finding buried tracks that much easier.
Maxtrax has a cord like that available, but I never see people use it lol
