Amazing....@0:56 you mentioned that you can get an equivalent map pic from google earth, but how come you get the exact latitude & longitude and scale in google earth of that heightmap image? I am a new learner and I might be asking you silly questions. Please pardon me for that.
Well, I just eyeball it. Heightmap and Satellite images don't need to be EXACTLY of the same place when you download them. But they do need to be of the same place ultimately, so that's where photoshop step comes in, where I manually align them and crop them to same aspect ratio.

Any sort of lines or figures are just masks on a coloured background made by spline node.
