Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel are working together and competing against each other in a duel control Alpha Romeo driving challenge. One driver is on the steering, throttle and gears, the other is on the clutch and brakes. Speed or control? What will they go for?

Actually if you di it right it is no problem for the gearbox, search for shifting gears without clutch.
its really unhealthy for your vehicle if you do it wrong but yeah if you time the throttle and the gear perfectly its a thing you can do. down shifting is a bit more complicated tho

kimi's hilarious. he's just so low key usually, that ppl may miss it. i notice him making jokes that go over ppl's heads. anyways his sense of humour/ hilarity is one of the things i like most about him :P and likely one of the many things he and seb have in common and help them get on as well as they do. :3
Kimi is hilarious, he's literally the funniest of the lot. He's just subtle, generally. People seem to need things thrown at their faces in order to notice a thing is potentially a thing. Like how most assume Daniel is the happiest, because he smiles so much and is extra. Which doesn't necessarily equate to happiness at all though. True deep joy tends to be subtle.
Anyways Kimi has an awesome sense of humour, as does seb. Which is one of the reasons they're so good together. I love them. They are magical. :3
I'm a new fan of F1, and Kimi became a favorite of mine. I've probably watched two hours of his interviews over time, and I swear this was the first "joke" joke I saw him tell

I think Seb always had some good relationships to fins in general. His physiotherapist is also finish if I remember correctly. I myself am germand and have some good finish friends. I feel like somthing clicks easily between people of those both nations. Also Schumacher and Hakkinen got along very well.

I love when Kimi feels more casual and even laughs. In an environment where he can relax and have fun he really shows his real side. I mean, anyone would get tired of all the press conferences and interviews of racing, like what more can you say that you haven't said to the same questions week in and week out? 99% of F1 questions are mere speculation with no real answers until the GP is actually over.
There’s a reason why these guys drive in the most intense racing formula. The way they’re able to learn so quickly, and drive so well. Brilliant.

Kimi's driving is perfection, such finesse! It is like a ballet. It is art.
I love watching Kimi and Vettel palling around, they seem to get along great. Amusing that for all the claims of favoritism / efficiency at all cost that Ferrari get, they have an incredibly stable and skilled driver pairing of two world champions with zero friction.

These two are the best team-mates in the field surely. The down to earth nice guy and the sarcastic couldn't care less guy. Not "showy", just fun. Always enjoyable to see their stuff together and makes me happy to wait a bit longer for Leclerc. :)

If i remember correctly from the CarThrottle interview, that's the car that Kimi daily drives in Finland.
That's the car he daily drives in Switzerland, where he lives most of the time

How did Kimi start the car without using the clutch?! I know he's an F1 world champion but I didn't even know that was possible. Did he just use the gas peddle VERY VERY gently?
He was pushing gear leaver very gently in to the first gear. If car won't be running, you can also engage first gear and then turn it on, and it will start to move, but not 'very gently' .
if you select a gear before starting the car you can start the engine and it will go on.
You can also shift without a clutch so you can actually get to where you want without the clutch entirely.
Although you will have to turn the engine off whenever you came to a standstill or are in neutral. From neutral you can only get a gear when you turn the car off.

kimi switched to first gear without clutch while the engine was running. as far as i understand he just was just pushing in the stickshift gently and the clutch started to rub against the transmission more and more, until it stopped slipping through and got fully into the 1st gear

Represents the kind of drivers they are. Kimi very calm and neat, not that fast but consistent, Vettel more risky, a little faster but making mistakes. I would stay with Kimi. Consistency wins championships.
I mean, Vettel has won 3 more WDCs than Kimi, and 53 wins to Kimi's 21. No hate to Kimi, I love him, but it's not like Seb isn't one of the most successful F1 drivers ever, 4 time champion, 3rd-most wins, 3rd-most podiums, 4th most poles, and youngest WDC ever.

that's is not a proper way to use a gearbox, it won't last too long if you do this all the time, kimi just did it because it's a cheap car and he didn't want Vettels help :)
