As a young angler in highschool some of my very first bass came on the creek channels in my lake with rip rap where the waves constantly blew in plankton and baitfish. I learned all my favorite lures in that spot (floating minnow, rattle trap, spinnerbaits) in that spot building confidence and now ten years later I’m just now learning why that worked. Thanks for the video and thanks everybody for the comments. Gotta love it!

Never fish the rocks to much before. What times I have tried in past have got caught up and lost many lures. These are definitely good ideas and info about using a lighter weight or crankbait that will bounce more off the rocks than to dive deep into them getting stuck. Will definitely use some of these techniques and try new lures to get a better feel next time. Thanks for another great video full of tips.

Great video. I've had great success night fishing rip rap in the middle of summer. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. It's nice because there usually aren't small targets you are trying to work around in the dark (with lures, or maneuvering your boat). My personal experience is you don't seem to need to get right up where the water meets the rock in the dark. The bass seem eager to chase the lures away from the bank a little under that cover of darkness.

Great tips! I fished rip rap once and it was very dissapointing, I was very new on bass fishing and I was told by a local to use jigs only, it didn't make too much sense to me but I just followed his suggestion, it didn't take too long for me to lose interest and all the jigs I had on my tackle box, I was discouraged thinking that I just couldn't figure out how to use the jig on rip rap, but now that I know that as I thought back then other better techniques can be used I'm going back to this place and getting some fish for sure! thanks for the advices! also, if I could win the rage tail baits that'd be awesome ; ). Good tips, never thought of physically marking shore lines for hot spots. I usually just try to use landmarks but physical markers would be much better. Love crank baits and spinner baits.
