100 player "support" is definitely an overstatement. I've never seen a game struggle server-wise so hard, but I don't think the nukes helped.
Valve didn’t said it was a supported feature they were just like “you can now do that… at your own risk”

Currently there’s servers being set up to run as smoothly as possible with 100 players, it’s taken some work but they’re getting close to an actual playable experience
60 on 2fort was plenty on this one server and there was no lag. Another had 70 and bits of lag here and there so I guess it's just testing what your server can handle. Not just stick it on 100 right away because you can lol.
RT wasn’t lying when he said he’s going to do a Battle Royale in the form of the long awaited Class Wars 3, TF2’s most competitive gamemode.
Even though this was a one-off, it was a blast playing TF2 with you again after all these years as it really made me nostalgic for the old TF2 days back in 2017!

To prevent Engineer stacking, one server has Sappers adjusted to instant kill a building the moment it is placed on a building, by config maker mastercoms
I'm convinced Valve is performing a social experiment with TF2, trying to figure out how long they can neglect a game while still maintaining a player base.
So many old ones giving TF2 another round, if only for a day, is such an incredible thing.

I love the fact that rt still is willing to play tf2 despite him distancing him from the game.
This year has been really good and exciting for the tf2 community with the summer update dropping.
That thumbnail reminds me of a very special moment that lives rent free in my head.
One fateful day, I was on a x100 server as an engineer. I was chilling on the top of the highertower with a bunch of other engis. One of them had the brilliant idea of trying to crash the server with dispensers. It was so loud, but eventually we did do it.
Best moment of my life.
I was there during the last part and I can attest to the fact that having to climb the entire tower TWICE as a heavy was painful
I remember this stream. Because right as I saw the community post from RT I raced over to my computer, got on the server and then pulled up the twitch stream. I then watched with absolute horror as they finished the group photo and RT promptly ended the stream. It felt like the worst bit of bad luck. Though the hour I played afterwards on the server was some of the most fun I've ever had on a tf2 server ever
my favorite part of the summer update was all the classic tf2bers coming back for a bit. feels like when actors from an old tv show come together for a little qna or something.
all jokes aside, the "one spy vs everyone else" sounds like a really fun idea when it's not in a 100-player server

Saw the title of the video, and wondered how the hell the game could handle that many players.
Not very well, as it turns out.
The devs did say the feature was unsupported beyond basic implementation. It seemed like more of a “fuck it, if you wanna try making this work go for it, it’ll be funny” sort of thing.

@@Devaliussupposedly there was bug associated with a 33rd and 34th player joining a match by accident.
The easiest AND funniest solution was to just increase the cap to 100 lol
And it gets worse, apparently the players and the stickybombs ocuppy the same space in the server, so if too many people play demoman the server had a stroke and dies.
RT I think what you were looking for here was one of those boss fight mods for TF2 where it's everyone vs 1 person but that 1 person is super powered.

oh man this brings back some memories, I found this channel through the TF2 side of RUclips and have stuck around since, and to see TF2 again brought back all the happy memories I've had with this game. Thank u RT. I still remember the crazy fiasco with the oversized turret & the map that combined a lot of maps into one. Rising lava was fun too. Higher tower is another one I remember fondly :D
I started watching dan back in the original tf2 days, back when he done videos like Zombies in TF2, its always a welcome return for him to come back to a community that loves him so much
