THANKS. this fixed my 06cobalt took a half an hr and it didn't start immediately after the third time but about 3-5 mins later it started. ran lie it was on 2 cylinders so I shut it off an popped the hood to look for issues, didn't find any so I tried the key again and it fired up and ran fine.... self healed lol oh btw mines at 200k miles and still peppy as ever and no pesky light!! (anymore)
I’m a locksmith, you’re right on the explanation you gave, and have a key already.But when you don’t have an original key and you want to program a new one. You have to do the 3x minutes time.

The original 30 minute programming is if you've lost all your keys and so what I had to do was go to GM with the title of my car and they get the codes from the factory for the key. So when I got back to my car I had to program the key and that is the one that takes 30 minutes
bought a reprogrammer for my 2009 Chevy cobalt LT and after I programmed a fob to it, my engine light came on. I ran the code reader and got a p0700 code and u0073 code. This makes no sense why it came on right after I did this but it’s been fine. I only have 89k miles. Any help/ideas why please?

heres a question, I have a key that is broken in half, can i use a new unprogrammed key that was copied from the 2 broken pieces, and turn the car on while using the end og the broken key that has the programmed RFID, to trick it into thinking the key thats in the ignition is the one is programmed to start it, then follow the the steps to reprogram the new key?
Sorry for the late reply don't know if that work with a chip key I know it work with The key the have the modulator on it I have done that with my other car You can't hurt nothing by trying
Get a key that doesnt have a chip. Insert the clipless key and palce in the on position. Take the broken chipped key and place it on metal of the ignition. Once the security icon goes away turn off while the chipped key is still in contact Now remove and proceed to next step.
Hello all, I have this problem now. My original key broke in half. I was able to get a new key cut but can’t seem to get the original key code to copy to the new replacement key. Even when holding the plastic or metal part to the ignition. Anyone know my options?
I program keys on the spot our machine is $ 4,000 If you have no key at all we have to cut off the vin nummbers then program a the only key at that point for the car. If you do not have a key program you still will need someone like me to come out or tow it to the dealership and that cost way more.
I'm not a mechanic or a technician but for myself I would try this idea If you have a newly cut key that has the chip transponder in it and the transponder is working thin it should work if that's not working take the key to Home Depot have them cut you a new key it could be possible that transponder in the key is not talking to the car I would try that first if that doesn't work thin you're going to have to take that car to the dealer and they're going to have to program it

If you have no keys you need to wait the 30 min, what your showing is if you already have a working key, but good video regardless!

You will need scanner snap-on or maca to program fob key
did this with my 2nd of 3 keys in the G5 now to figure out why the doors won't work with the fob
also Ace Hardware would not touch my vehicle

You just have to take the VIN number to any Chevy dealer and they will cut you a new key
